I have been taking my dogs here for around 12-13 years now. They are very caring and have always taken very good care of my dogs.

On the morning of May 2nd, My very healthy, 2.5 yr old German Shepherd, Matilda, had a scheduled…read moreroutine spay surgery at Youngsville Animal Hospital that was done by Miranda Bailey, the Owner of YAH. Two days later, Matilda is in emergency surgery at Blue Pearl specialized emergency hospital due to life threatening peritonitis/septic abdomen and resulting paralytic ileus, 104.2 fever. The Blue Pearl ER surgeon re-opened her belly and found the cause of infection...her abdominal cavity (peritoneum) was contaminated by foreign objects that fell inside of her open abdomen *during* the routine spay surgery at YAH. The contaminants were an alarming amount of **long strands of Matilda's HAIR** and that's how Miranda Bailey closed her up, full of long fur scattered inside of her peritoneum. And then remained silent while letting us leave her facility, knowing the suffering and Hell that awaited us. In order for all of that hair to have fallen inside her peritoneum, there was a massive departure from the most basic standard of care and practice. It is INEXCUSABLE . This extreme level of carelessness caused unnecessary suffering and the potential death of a loving soul, my best friend. It is terrifying that a licensed professional allowed this to happen. These kinds of things happen after a back room, clandestine, illegal surgery...not by a professional in a supposedly controlled clinical environment/OR. My baby went in a healthy, vibrant being and ended up fighting for her life in ICU. IV fluids, IV pain meds, broad spectrum IV antibiotics, close monitoring; JP draining infection/fluid from her abdomen, protein malnutrition, The good news is that my husband and I decided stop listening to Bailey's advice "give sodium free broth, let her rest all day" and to rush her to an ER in time, exceptional Blue Pearl Drs diagnosed the septic abdomen and I opted for aggressive treatment, immediate surgery to re-open her abdomen. Abscesses had not yet had time to form around all those hairs, her abdomen had to be lavaged several times by the surgeon, antibiotics and treatments started asap. That gave her a fighting chance and she got through the vulnerable, unpredictable 5-7 days, which helped her chances of recovery greatly increase. I would panic every time I got a phone call, terrified of getting the news that I couldn't bear to hear. It was horrible for her and for us. After almost a week in ICU, and because I'm a RN, She was able to come home with 24 hour supervision, a comprehensive plan of care, around the clock meds for pain, nausea, appetite stimulants, antibiotics. Activity restrictions, rest Cardiology diagnosed infective endocarditis (infection in her heart's aortic valve) caused by the peritonitis bacteria from the hairs washing through her body. She is a very different dog now $20,000+ vet bill, expensive ongoing antibiotics & medical follow/up, ongoing $$$ cardiology monitoring for the remainder of her life. No accountability from YAH. Instead, Bailey and YAH publicly attacked my personality and character with completely false statements in public forums, her website, the YAH FB account, and others Bailey unethically obtained confidential medical records that she posted in public social media forums without my consent or knowledge. She cherry picked bits of the records taken out of context to fit her false narrative of a business statement. I was already barely holding it all together and she decided to make life even worse for me than the nightmare she already created. Gaslighting our community at the expense of truth, well being of others. Bailey's Actions speak louder than any of her words. I trusted Bailey for over 2 years....Matilda could have been anyone's pet. It's reasonable to wonder how many others did not survive to tell their stories?

I am so angry and frustrated with East Wake Animal Hospital right now. I called them on Wednesday,…read moreApril 3rd to let them know that our little Yorkie mix had to be euthanized Easter morning & requested to get a copy of all her records... The lady that answered never once had 1 ounce of sympathy nor did she give any type of sympathy at all and just said she'd email them over. When I said, "I appreciate the condolences by the way", she literally hung up on me. I called back and spoke with another lady & told her what happened and that I wasn't finished with what I needed & before I was even able to tell her what had happened on the previous call, she immediately said she was so sorry about our pup. I thanked her & explained what happened on my first call and proceeded to let her know that I wanted to request no further communication regarding potential appointments for our fur baby because it would be too difficult to get those phone calls or emails; she completely understood. I asked to speak with a manager, so she had one call as soon as they were available. When the manager called, she did nothing but defend the first lady in every way. And the comments she responded with would be considered "gas-lighting"... like "I'm sorry you took it that way." But whatever. I will NEVER take another pet there. I am appalled at how they handled everything. They tried to say that that is completely unlike the lady, she has been there for the past eight years, has been well-known for her sympathy for with customers and that they think it was just a misunderstanding. She told me, "I'm sorry if that's how you took it." She said she talked to the girl before calling me and said that she said there was a pause on the line so she must have thought that I had hung up. I said no ma'am there was no pause at all. Then, when I told the manager that I knew there was nothing that could be done about it now, but that I just wanted to let them know that I felt like having to euthanize my dog could have been avoided had my concerns initially been addressed when she started showing signs of issues a few years ago. I just wanted to give them my feedback and opinion in hopes that maybe it could help someone else. I explained to her that I had talked to them a few times about her constantly licking the air, licking her paws constantly and smacking her mouth that made me feel like there was some issues going on because that wasn't normal for her, but I felt like I was just being brushed off. When the vet just brushed it off when I talked to them about it, it made me feel like maybe I was just overthinking it. When she was seen at the urgent care vet that we had to take her to to have her euthanatized, we mentioned it to them and that vet said that was a clear indication of nausea in dogs. However, it kept seeming like the manager kept trying to put blame back on us. I told her that I didn't feel that we would have been at that point had my initial concerns been addressed when I brought her in about it a few years ago! Then I brought her in in January due to vomiting & diarrhea with blood. They said it was likely a food sensitivity. We had bloodwork done and they said her bloodwork looked normal. Taking their advice, we gave her chicken and rice but she got to where she couldn't digest the rice. That Saturday night she wasn't acting right. Then, Easter morning her stool was nothing but blood. After getting her records & reviewing her bloodwork, her labs were NOT normal! There were 4 results that were abnormal & all levels indicated signs of disease or cancer! Looking back at her symptoms, we believe it was cancer of some kind. But had they listed to us, we may have had a chance to help her! That did NOT do their job. I know it's been a couple weeks since everything happened but it's been a very difficult time for us. I also know two other people whose experience there has been VERY questionable and their dog having to be euthanized due to issues with care received!

She came several times over the past few years to check on her and to help with a reoccurring ear problem. We eventually had surgery done on her recommendation and it alleviated her suffering for several years. After 17 long years, we finally decided her quality of life wasn't there anymore and decided to have my cat put to sleep. Dr. Lash and Jessica came to our house and were wonderfully supportive and caring. They made Feffer comfortable and allowed her pain and discomfort to end peacefully. They comforted us and reassured us we were doing the right thing. I highly recommend their services they provide and can attest to their professionalism and caring personalities. If your animal doesn't tolerate travel well, or it's easier for you to have the vet come to you, I feel you can't get better care anywhere else.

Lock n load, you're going for a sweet, sultry ride with LVC!…read more It's a rare clinic that can manage the behavior of an exhausted, disorganized human with a historically nippy "standard husky nut" for a patient. Louisburg Vet Clinic, specifically, Dr. Thomas, Alayna, and Amanda, did this not only well, but with a quiet passion our emotional fluffernutter appreciated and was lulled to snoozy satisfaction. New clients receive a $40 discount, so remember to ask about it! Tell them who referred you, as that's another benefit program in place. LVC presents a full wellness recommendation, for the best care possible of your pet, but do not hesitate to discuss and edit the list to fit your family, your finances, and maintain a good, open communication with you. I know my family, bipedal and quadripedal, appreciate that! I witnessed Amanda be so helpful and patient with clients via phone and in person. She was cheerful, patient, organized, and empathized where needed. Even if technology isn't jiving with their speed or demands, they keep a professional face and demeanor ;] Alayna was skilled with husky veins, which are notoriously shy, narrow, and buried under thick skin and thick snow coat. She owned that venipuncture like a boss, without shaving, altho we would've been fine with a clip window if needed. Dr. Thomas really shone, being patient and understanding while I reviewed what my mother's needs and goals were for this new family member with a second "leash on life" as we struggled with her aggression with other animals, and we have a full house already. Dr. T was well informed, communicated well with myself and with staff regarding diagnostics, vaccinations, diseases, and stress/anxiety and fear behavior modifications. She handled our girl with a soft touch, thoroughly listening to her chest for signs of infection/inflammation, our top concern. They offer Purevax vaccines for cats, which are the only ones I give my own cats for 14 years now. None of those on Purevax only got fibrosarcomas, an aggressive cancer, like the mass my kitty grew back when Franklin AC was open, that had regular rabies and distemper vaccines historically, with adjuvants. Can't wait for LVC to carry 3 yr Purevax, so mine can slog through their due dates 2020 and 2021. They carry Royal Canin Rx diets, my preferred treatments for dog and cat GI distress, urinary obstruction/crystals, or renal disease/insult. Their involvement with local animal programs to help Franklin Co stray and unaltered pets is very commendable. I love how the community once served by a mixed small/large animal practice in my childhood, now has such a veterinary gem focused on small animal medicine, a very specific niche, for us Warren, Franklin, Vance, etc county residents! Cats aren't dogs, and dogs aren't horses, so medicine and patient care should reflect that, which LVC does in spades. Thank you, Louisburg Vet Clinic, for welcoming my family. Can't wait for many more "steps forward" in the right direction for our sensitive flower of a husky, and more of our animal kindred we'll introduce soon!
