We loved it! Came in on. Saturday night without a reservation about 8pm and they were able to kindly seat us right away. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Fantastic mushroom soup (a very big bowl, a not usually one to spilt soup but definitely could w this one). I had the namesake pizza and and was very spicy and delicious. Downtown guelph where parking is almost non existent, this is a place found visible at the intersection. When you walk in, you first get greeted by the hostess. It was a Saturday at 2pm, so we weren't hopeful to get a table, however a few empty tables near a very nice looking bar and within 5 minutes we were seated. Promptly given beverages, the service was wonderful. We were a party of two. The ambiance was tasteful and quiet. We were able to actually talk and hear each other. Calamari arrabiatta - 8/10 The calamari was nicely fried. It lays on a flavourful tomato sauce with pieces of Thai chilis scattered. That's the spicy part of the dish, only if you eat the chili as well. Drizzled with lots of a mayo like sauce on top. Eggplant parmigiana 8/10 This was surprisingly small for $12, but from this I have concluded that their tomato base is very very good. Nicely seasoned. Baked well. Cheese was melty. I kind of wish I didn't get the ends of the eggplant though... Arugula e prosciutto pizza 8.5/10 This is a neo style pizza so expect the crust to be very thin with a soggy middle. The ingredients are very fresh. I found the dough to be a little salty for my tastebuds but still a very nice pizza oven flavor. Bolognese - 8/10 The pasta was Al dente and perfectly cooked. A perfect place for a romantic evening with some decent Italian food. For the best experience go for the house specials and pizzas. So our dragoncello pasta was different in taste but very dry and very fried types. It should have had some more cheese or if it wasn't fried it would have been been a little better. The house red was off dry, smoky and very delicious wine, paired well with our pizza. We ordered a 1/2 ltr. The house bread served along with balsamic vinegar and olive oil was a winner. It was a rosemary bread , served warm. It was one of the best bread we've ever got. My 2 year old also loved it. I wish they refilled, we requested but they still didn't bring any.. our server Jes was very cheerful though. The pizza was the highlight of the night, cooked perfect. The pesto was very aromatic and fresh. St last but not the least tiramisu- hmm not sure of I liked the offbeat taste! Very good Italian restaurant in Guelph downtown. We ordered the Toscana pizza (vegetarian), it was with basil pesto, fior di latte, olives, artichokes, mushrooms and roasted red peppers. It was fantastic. We ordered the dragancello pasta. It was with cremini mushrooms, tarragon pesto, fresh cream and grams padano. Pasta was okay. Came here for a date night with my husband as I've been wanting to try out this place since moving to Guelph! I absolutely loved the charred octopus. The mushroom crostini doesn't seem to be on the menu anymore but I'm a huge fan of mushrooms and was not disappointed with these! The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the pizza we had ordered, we opted to get one that had anchovies on it and found that it ended up being far too fishy for us, that was an error on our part having never tried them before. It would've probably been wiser to go with a safer bet where all the toppings were things we had tried before but honestly, it was an experience and we still managed to finish 90% of the pizza! I don't think it's on the menu anymore either. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly and their recommendations were and descriptions were spot on! I had lunch today at Buon Gusto, which is in downtown Guelph. I love love love pizza and ordered a D'Abuzzo pizza. Their pizzas are made in a wood-burning oven, hearth-baking them at 900 degrees Fahrenheit for 90 seconds. It was a good pizza. I liked the crust, which is the traditional Neapolitan thin-crust style ... it was soft and chewy. The cheese was creamy. The salami was salty. I looked around online before I found this gem of a restaurant, which had lots of great reviews. The pictures looked tempting, so "why not"? I am so glad that we did. The menu was full of some great sounding foods and we found it hard to choose. It was a Friday night, so we made a reservation and it turned out to be a good idea. The restaurant at 5:45 was almost full. Anyway, the bread was warm and wonderful and came with olive oil and balsamic vinegar combo to dip. I love this start. We each ordered an appetizer (Bruschetta and Buratta) and a pizza. Wow! Everything was great but well, dinner tomorrow as well, yay! The restaurant is quaint and the staff was informative, friendly and efficient. This is a definite return to, on our next trip through Guelph. read more

Came for a late lunch around 2 pm on Velentine's Day. We ordered and got our pizzas in under 10 minutes. Both pizzas came out piping hot, not burnt and were accompanied by red pepper flakes and red pepper sauce. The red pepper sauce tastes quite spicy and a bit acidic. The buon gusto doesn't really need any more heat as there are sausage and hot peppers on it already. The margherita tasted great but it would have been great to see s bit more basil on there. Service was great. Their bathroom towels are the some of the toughest paper towels I have ever seen. If you live in Guelph, you gotta try Buon gusto at least once if you like pizza! read more

My favourite wood burning pizza place in Guelph. Be sure to make a reservation, it's usually always busy. My favourite app is the Burrata, it's the perfect consistency of cheese. Went to a few Italian restaurants and this is in my top 10, easily. The restaurant itself is beautiful and clean. Modern with a little rustic touch imo. Our server (didn't catch the name unfortunately) but she was super attentive with us. She came back at perfect times to clean off our dirty/finished plates, and wasn't pestering us over and over again whether we were okay with our food. There was 6 of us, and our food came at a reasonable time. Each person enjoyed their food, and so did I. The washrooms are gender neutral, so one person can use the washroom one at a time , but they have 5 or 6 of them :) In addition, there's not private parking for this restaurant. It's literally on the street, so either you might have to walk for 10 minutes, or parallel park in the good first spot you see! I would definitely come here again. I loved it. My friend from Italy also approved that the food here is quite authentic and delicious. My favorite was the appetizer which was composed of fresh mozzarella, crispy prosciutto, fresh arugula and figs, and bacon jam with toast. It was a good size to share before the main. I got meatballs and polenta as my "main" (it is under appetizers). It seemed small at first, but oh boy it filled me up! Polenta was nice and creamy, and meatballs were packed with flavors but slightly on the dry side for my liking. Overall, great food, friendly service, and good atmosphere. A consistently good lunch or dinner option. Hard to get a spot for dinner unless you've booked at least a week in advance, which is testament to how popular they are. Service can be a bit hit or miss -- sometimes, spot on, other times, a bit slow or overly self-congratulatory. Sometimes the host/hostess is friendly and warm, other times, likely when they're under the most stress due to peak volume, a bit abrupt. But never has service been terrible in my many visits. We have noted over the years and particularly recently that bar service is generally slow, so pounce on making your drink orders as soon as you get seated. Wine by the glass or bottle is very good -- and prices are reasonable, though not low. Ambiance is good, though it can get a bit loud at peak times -- but by no means unbearable. The decor is comfortable, trendy, and very Guelph with exposed stone walls and just enough trendiness. Casual to smart casual attire. Living in Toronto where amazing Italian food is so accessible, I gotta be honest and say, Buon Gusto will give most of those chi chi fu fu places a run for their money! Not only was the food spot on and authentic, but the value was very good as well. My favorite Italian pasta dish is Linguini pescatore. Buon Gusto has mastered this dish, with the right combination of 4 different types of seafood, perfect balance of sauce and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Dave greeted us at the door and before I could turn around to get my Mom's purse out of the car, Dave had already escorted my Mom to our table. Dave offered suggestions for parking as well. Dave was on point and did not miss a beat, he ensured we were well taken care of and had a couple orders of bruschetta brought to our table before we even ordered our dishes. Our server was excellent as well (Kristen, I believe) She also did not miss a beat and was super cordial to our many questions and requests.
