this place is always so overpacked and loud, you can't even have a conversation with someone, and I used to like the food, but this chicken Parm was so rubbery and weird texture of chicken!! it's the same change I noticed at Popeyes, their tenders used to be so good. Now they are disgustingggg. Like you bite into it and feel how unnaturally rubbery it is. when I've been eating chicken like that in the dark, I literally flash a flashlight on it to see if it's raw. Soo rubbery and dense... barf. also, there is way too much sauce or dressing on the Caesar salad. The service is quick though. read more

Seating is fast. Servers are top notch. Ambiance is great. Prices are good lots of food for your money. Food is always perfect. Lots of parking. I prefer the Stone Road Guelph store overall the stores in Southwestern Ontario. We frequent this store a lot with my family and friends, we drive from Kitchener. Came in for a bite on Mother's Day, after the dinner crowd passed noticed service was still quite slow. The menu has been reworked, before there were $15 options with unlimited soup or salad. The location now only offers minimum $20 option. The garlic bread was served with unsalted butter and the salad was consistent as always. To minimize table service a shareable salad bowl was provided that gives approximately four servings. I noticed at this location at 8pm was a wave of busy and then at 9pm service was pretty slow even though it wasn't busy;I guess there were shift changes. The location tags Scene card so don't forget to bring it, it is a bit arduous to enter as the server expects the patron to enter the VERY LONG MEMBERSHIP NUMBER into the payment terminal. This was pretty ridiculous that scanning was not an option. Take out containers that were box with plastic or wax lining was provided for leftovers. read more

I just finished what was one my favourite meals. Hells Kitchen Chicken was first introduced to me around 25 years ago. I was looking for something rustic Italian and Hot. I was not disappointed. The two real chicken legs hag been marinated beautifully and the Chef made sauce with real ingredients and lovely whole pepper corns and fresh chilli peppers really made me sweat. Loved it. Tonight I received (via delivery) 2 I think were frozen breaded chicken patties with some canned bland sauce that was so greasy it was better suited on the pasta in the same plastic container. They have taken a really good real bone in chicken entree and reduced it to fast food quality and ingredients. And Please, Please stop putting the packet of dressing IN the container with the salad. Unless you washed the packages, They're NOT SANITARY and contaminate the salad. I couldn't eat that. I like to avoid getting sick. Shame. Look up the old recipes and hire a Chef that can cook them. Because with the prices you are charging...... We'll another favourite restaurant gone plastic. read more

Every time I go here, the service is so awful and slow and the food comes out barely warm. There was even a hair on the side of my bowl when I ordered my Italian wedding soup yesterday. On Valentines Day, I had expected it to be fairly busy but to my surprise my boyfriend and I were the only ones in the restaurant for lunch. I expected a tentative server but instead got once again, slow delivery time, waters unfilled, served bread maybe once at the beginning. Unfortunately I had another bad server yesterday too. Not sure if she had bitten her tongue earlier in the day or was hungover but she wasn't communicating to us properly and seemed tired. I also had a coupon code for a free appetizer, while my boyfriend just wanted the buy one get one as a take home and she wouldn't accommodate for that because we were at the same table even if it was under a different bill? Just seemed preposterous. If I had gone with a group of people I would have not let that fly. Surely she could have rang it in separately. Service was slow, waters were unfilled, food was cold, server was awful. Felt bad and decided to leave her a tip anyway because that's just how I was raised but I will not be coming back to this location. East Side Mario's as a whole isn't exactly known for high quality food. As a result I was mainly focused on franchise consistency with other locations and customer service. Unfortunately this Guelph location failed on both ends. Customer service and interaction was limited and the wait staff are mostly students eagerly awaiting the day they never have to come back. ESM has disappointed me so many times in Toronto over the last couple of years or so but this time in Guelph I was wowed. The service was so friendly and the food quality was great. I got the Hell's Kitchen with a side of spaghettini Alfredo and it was the perfect combo. Even the vegetables on the side were cooked perfectly. My only suggestion would be for the dish to have way more vegetables (just too skimpy). Kudos to this location overall! read more

I am surprised to see that this restaurant doesn't have rate that I expected. I was here last Monday and restaurant was pretty busy. Our server was very attentive and good. I didn't expect much of this restaurant but it wowed me. All you can eat salad was fresh and delicious. Pasta was cooked the way I want. Valuable price for good meals. read more

My first time dining at East Side Mario's a few months ago visiting Guelph with two friends. I ordered the sauteed basa fillet special with mushrooms, fresh basil and primavera vegetables in olive oil for $12.99. Service I must say was fast, some will say a little too fast, but it's nice to see efficiency in a restaurant. Large portion of fish, exquisite and a seafood lover like myself enjoyed it very much! Service was terrible and food was not at the normal east side Mario's standard. I had a terrible experience at this East Side Mario's location today. They have a deal on for buy one get one to take home for their pastas and my sister who was sick wanted me to take one home for her. I also brought my friend who is recovering from an eating disorder and she said she was torn between two different dishes. I told her to order them both and we would get one packed up to go so she could eat some of both and take the rest to go. Both of the dishes they wanted were on the buy one get one menu. The waiter I got was a overweight bearded man in his 60's who I have seen at this location many times before and always has a terrible bedside manner and is always grumpy with customers. We all ordered our food and then I asked him to get the two pastas for take out and told him which take away pastas we would like with them as part of the promotion they had put on. He then rudely stated that we could not get the promotion pastas with our take aways as they are only offered when you're eating them in the restaurant. I said okay no problem can we get them ordered to the table then so we can try them and then we can pack up the extras and still get the promotion. He then shook his head and said no. We were all confused by this but I asked again and he said "no you can either substitute your original order with these pastas and get the promotion or get them for take away and get no promotion" the manager then came over and told us he was correct and we cannot get the promotion on the pastas and cannot get them ordered to the table. We were all shocked that the manager was so unaccommodating and unwilling to simply bring us two extra meals that we would be paying for. My friend with the eating disorder ended up feeling like the waiter and manager were judging her for ordering 2 meals and didn't eat anything while we were there. She is still upset about the way we were treated. She said that had we all been men we wouldn't have been questioned for ordering two extra meals. I will never return to this location. I would also definitely not recommend the food, as what came to our table was over cooked and was drowning in sauce. I am appalled by the experience I had today, and will not be returning. read more

So my swim team is called LSC (Lakeshore Swim Club) and after the swim meet we had a group dinner here. It was good us kids sat at one table and parents sat at another. We ordered food was really good. Until we asked for the free garlic bread we were maybe 15 kids and the waitress said only 6 for almost 15 kids and wasn't it "free garlic bread". Also I saw that everyone was getting this special unicorn drink and I wanted to get it. I asked the waiter and he said "YOU GOTTA WAIT BUDDY". And I said ok. Be didn't give it to me after 15 minutes after just ordering a drink!!!!! My friend also asked him for the same drink and he said "YOU GOTTA WSIT AFTER THE FOOD BUDDY" And it also took him 10-15 min for the drink to come!!!!!! So after the food I asked the waiter for a type of dessert can't remember which but he said I can't have it. Your probably thinking that it was out or something but no your mom has already paid for the meal and you can't have it. My mom was fine paying for the dessert and he still didn't give it to us!!!!! Honestly I would probably not recommend this place because the staff are very rude. And by looking at the other reviews some other people didn't have very good experiences. I was so disappointed on our pick up order last night. We normally eat in the restaurant and it is always, without fail, excellent. Last night we decided to call in our order and both pizzas were terrible. When we opened the box to double check our order, the pizza looked like it had been thrown in the box and it was all over the place. The pizza looked like it had been sitting for awhile and not fresh at all. The second one was just a vegetarian and it tasted like no sauce or cheese had been added. I know they were busy but when you fail this bad with a good customer then it is very disappointing. read more

We went into the Guelph East side, we really wanted Carbonara, what a mistake. The sauce was runny vs thick (no egg). When the server asked how it was my husband told her what he thought. Her comment was "well we are not authentic Italian" We both left about half on our plate. We ate the bread and salad, but paid for the meal. I also ordered a glass of house wine, comparable price to many places and upon bringing up to my nose I could smell that it most likely came from some jug, the taste confirmed. The quality of food at this place has gone down hill drastically in the past few years! It's really a shame, because it used to be 'the spot'. Food feels like pre-made, pre-cooked junk, the salads almost always have too much dressing, and the staff is always hard to flag down because they rarely come out of the back except to deliver food. Stingy on the bread (probably because it's unlimited), but if you give me two breads then you won't have to be bothered to come back every two bites I take. Ordered pizza here. By the time it was brought to the table it was barely warm, the cheese was coagulated and the crust was undercooked. It tasted fine for an undercooked warmish pizza, but that's not what I expect when I order pizza fresh from a restaurant. We came here because it was Victoria Day and not much else was open, but would not come here again. The frozen pizzas I make at home are better than this, so I'd rather stay home than come back here.Also the music on the patio was blasting way too loud. Jess that works the take out desk is rude, I notice i only have problems when she is working. I always get calls about extra charges for sides of parmesan after completing an online order. then when i get my order delivered, there's maybe two sides of parmesan cheese which i ended up paying $4.00 in additional charges for because i asked for 10 sides of cheese. the food is good, you just have to keep your fingers crossed a decent person is working take out when you order delivery read more
