Robert's team led by Carlos laced the wood back together (they had to take up a larger part of the floor because the boards didn't line up perfectly on either side of the old repair) and were able to reuse many of our existing boards to do it, you can see the new wood over by the wall in the collage. They sanded the floors down and prepared three stain samples (bottom left photo of the collage) based on colors we picked from a fan book they loaned us. The bottom right photo is the finished product and we couldn't be happier with how the floors turned out! They took great care of our home, using plastic to cover the openings to the kitchen and all vents so the dust didn't end up anywhere it shouldn't, and cleaned up the remaining dust when they finished. The stain is Nutmeg from Duraseal on red oak hardwood, with a Satin finish polyurethane sealant.

At Ganahl's I was treated with little care by a guy behind a desk who had no trim suggestions except either fiber cement board or redwood. HOWEVER, at Imperial Annie immediately suggested Bodyguard's 5.5" trim made for exterior applications. (I like the Bodyguard trim because it had eased edges that looked more finished than straight lumber edges). Annie explained how the pine product is double primed, etc. She called her supplier right away to see if they d it in stock which they did. She also showed me samples she's ordered for another client so I could see the quality of the product. In other words she took the time to care about what I was looking for. At Ganahl's they really didn't care about what I actually needed. My husband might prefer the redwood option(because it's a more "noble" wood than pine,) but I definitely prefer the great service at Imperial which is where I'd go for any future hardwood and moulding needs.

They will point you in the right direction and help you find what you want or don't know you want. BTW If you're looking for the really good stuff, go next door to their sister company Amirian Tile for their top shelf selections. I took a moment to pause over the (what felt like countless) hours and thousands (more like tens of thousands ) I've spent here and honestly have nothing bad to say. This place is a local gem. It's where you should start your remodeling journey and most likely where you'll end up buying from if you do. Ok, one minor criticism. Glendale Tile has a classic movie popcorn machine. They should clean it out and run that baby like it was meant to be run or get it out of the shop. I see it and I crave some fresh popcorn but it's perpetually stale. I found Burbank Carpet on Yelp and was impressed with their 5-star rating! I used Yelp's "Get a Quote" feature but apparently that didn't work (I've had trouble with that feature) so I called to see if they'd received that quote request; they had not. I decided to deal directly with the company via the contact info on their website. I spoke with Fabian and we set up a time for him to come by and give us a quote for replacing the vinyl sheet flooring in our kitchen, back bathroom an laundry area (all connected). He took all the measurements and showed me some samples; we liked the grey wood plank pattern. Our existing floor that we had installed when we first moved in to our place was now 29 years old, and had come up in several places. Fabian said he would remove all of the old flooring and fix any underlayment issues. He also gave us the option of staying with the coved edges we already had, or going with a flat install with baseboards all around. I received Fabian's quote within 48 hours and was impressed with the total cost of the job (which included moving the washer, dryer and refrigerator out and back)! We went with the coving option which, although not the current design trend, is better for cleaning, plus it cost less than the baseboard option. Burbank Carpet's crew arrived right on time for our scheduled appointment. It consisted of the father and son team of Raul and Raul. They were simply amazing! Not only are they skilled craftsmen, but they were cheerful and great to have around. The son answered any questions I had and didn't mind me watching him work for a while (I'm a DIYer myself and always learn from watching those with "the skills"). Although the job was estimated to take one day, it actually took another half day due to the various problems that show up once you remove the old stuff. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the final bill, which was the exact price I was quoted. I gave Raul & Raul a nice tip! Our new floor is now the showpiece of our home! One guest thought it was real wood! I HIGHLY recommend Fabian and Burbank Carpet for any flooring needs. read more

These guys are amazing!! In terms of price, quality, and service they can't be beat. We got 3 quotes from 3 local stores and Burbank Carpet was a few hundred dollars less than each of those stores. They even beat out our family friends who own a local store and gave us the "family friend discount". Fabian was extremely responsive and his crew was great. They are honest, efficient and experts at what they do. No hidden costs, no suprises...we paid what we were quoted and nothing more. They were able to carpet our entire house in 1 day and did a very thorough job. From the very first meeting throught the installation, everything was so pleasant and easy. Fabian was great with communicating my options/costs and I never felt pressured. I had one of the major carpet companies in my house the weekend before and I had to kick the sales guy out because he was so rude and pushy. The installation went smoothly - Fabian's guys arrived on time, were polite and worked quickly. Unfortunately I had a blue pen ink on the carpet less than a month after installation. Fabian's guy came out and did the spot repair and you can't tell where the stain was at all! I recommended Burbank Carpet to several friends and they loved them too! read more

I'm installing Junkers flooring in my home gym. Junkers recommended…read more The Great Carpet Company to do the install, stating they have done it many times and do a great job. From the first day of the install, I could tell things weren't being done properly. They did not remove the old base boards before beginning to lay the floor, they also did not check the level of the existing floor before they began to lay the Junkers flooring down. This resulted in the Junkers floor not being cut properly to fit, with the old flooring being uneven with big sloops in it and the base boards not being cut / fitting properly or being installed properly. The floor needed to be leveled prior to any Junkers flooring being installed. This did not happen. Shant, knew my concerns and expectations. He insisted the floor was installed properly. I reached out to Junkers since they recommended The Great Carpet Company. Junkers then sent out a 3rd party inspector as well as one of their own team members to inspect. Both determined the flooring was not installed properly and needed to be redone. The work done be The Great Carpet Company was determined to be of poor quality with uneven wood pieces, poor craftsmanship of the cutting and install of the base boards and sloppy work on the finishings. I also have to order more flooring from Junkers in order to have another company reinstall the floor properly since The Great Carpet Company damaged / improperly cut so much of the wood floor from the first order. The cost is over $1600 for 137 sq ft of wood/delivery to complete the job. This job was originally suppose to take no longer than 7 days, that was almost 2 months ago. The job is still not complete since we needed to hire a new reputable company to reinstall and complete this job. Needless to say, I am very unhappy with quality of work and the lack of accountability / follow through for proper resolution from The Great Carpet Company. Several photos are available to confirm this review and a complaint has been filed with the Better Business Bureau.
