My kids have attended playschool, preschool, dance classes, swim lessons, basketball,…read morecheerleading...you name it. All of the programs have been wonderful. The playschool/preschool teachers are phenomenal as are all the coaches we have dealt with. They are caring and have a genuine interest in helping the kids succeed at whatever they are trying to accomplish, whether it's learning their ABCs or learning how to shoot a basketball. The programs the park district puts together are all wonderful as well. We have attended many Breakfasts with Santa, Easter Egg hunts and 4th of July celebrations. Thankful to live in a town that is so family oriented. The prices for all the programs are amazing as well. Two of our favorite programs the park district offers are the dance program and the swim lessons. Miss Natalie is an amazing dance teacher, my girls love her and we will be coming back for dance classes for years to come. The swimming program is great as well, they give your child lots of one on one attention even though it's structured as a group program. They let your child go at their own pace and don't pressure them to do anything they are too uncomfortable to do. They definitely encourage them, but don't pressure them. I appreciated that having a child who was terrified of putting her head under water (she totally got over that fear by the end of the lessons btw!)

The birthday room is kinda hidden in the back but there's an indoor play set in there that includes a couple slides and a bounce house. You can bring your own food, which is great. But they only let you set up like 10 minutes before and clean up maybe 10 minutes after the time you've booked, our they charged you for the extra time, so make sure your decorations, food, and so on are easy to get up and down. The facility has a basketball court and what I'm sure must be an ice rink at some point of the year, but when we were here in late December a basketball camp was taking place. The facility was clean and has lots of parking, plus a small playground outside the building as well.

They also have no entry from their rear parking and couldn't be bothered to have someone even lightly shovel the 9 mile walkway from the back. Saw multiple seniors slipping due to the egregious lack of maintenance during a tournament that people are charged in excess of 15$ a day for the 'privilege' to attend. Also doesn't appear that they had heating in the men's restroom. It was significantly colder and almost to the point of unbearable. All around less than stellar experience.

Today would have been the day to host my Baby Shower…read more My husband signed a contract back in November of 2020 to rent the banquet hall for my Baby Shower for February 28th from 5pm to 10pm for the amount of 120 people. Remind you that at that time Covid was worsened at that time. We bought all the decorations and mailed out our invitations to our family members and friends for a short Baby Shower for the upcoming arrival of our son. My husband called the park district to confirm everything for the upcoming Sunday and they stated "Yes for the amount of 50 people". And my husband stated "No, I signed for the amount of 120 and I have the contract stating that.". The park district stated that they are just following the State Guidelines but the thing is 'When did you guys plan to tell us that??' On such a last minute, my husband was stressed out and called me. I was really really heart broken because all that work that my family and I put for that upcoming baby shower. And the fact that we invited soo many people. The embarrassment to contact everyone regarding the cancellation. My husband went to the park district to talk things through about lowering the price. No, they lowered $100 less for the amount of 50 people. It wasn't worth to argue more, so thankful we gotten our full deposit back.

I understand that it will be next to where the old senior center building was at 3450 W. 97th Street ---a few blocks away from this temporary location. This is the fourth time I have been to this senior center. I come here each year to have my income taxes done. Wonderful AARP tax volunteers file tax forms for senior citizens at this time of year. This service is free. There is a large jar near the sign - in sheets. You can leave a donation for the Senior Center as a "thank you" for providing this service. The staff of the Senior Center have always been pleasant and helpful whenever I have called to make an appointment or when I checked in for that appointment. They always call with a reminder the afternoon before my appointment, which is very nice. I did not happen to encounter any staff members today. The sign-in table was outside of a large room on the lower level where the tax help is set up. Although I only saw the lower level of the building, it was pleasant enough. As I entered the building through the rear door, I noticed an elevator, so the building is definitely senior friendly. Down the hall just past the elevator, I noticed the restrooms. The ladies restroom was very nice. There is plenty of parking in the rear of the building and it can be accessed from either side of the building. Hopefully, some other senior(s) who frequent/s this center will provide more info about the activities in a Yelp review. As for me, I am most thankful to the Village of Evergreen Park, the staff of the Evergreen Park Senior Center and the wonderful AARP tax consultants for providing this service.
