This is one of the few underground stations, so it is naturally dark and not well lit. I've been through this station a few times for years. The signage makes it very easy to navigate through this station. This is a transfer station between Silver/green/orange/blue/yellow lines. There are clear signs indicating which trains are on which platform, however, it can be easy to get lost. For a Saturday, the station was fairly busy. There is a very long escalator going up and down...even though I prefer the stairs option.

I had to be very resourceful and ubered directly to their parking lot to find my suitcase (luckily). Ever since that, I try not to choose bus companies without robust customer support. My experience with BestBus was a breeze. I filled out the lost and found form on their website and called. I was quickly helped and received an email confirming my iPhone was identified within two days. I provided an USPS shipping label and they shipped the phone back to me safe and sound. I was thrilled to see that the 7am bus from DuPont Circle was waiting when I arrived at 6:45, and that I was able to board immediately. Not only was there a working electrical outlet, but the WiFi signal was strong and effect. Those were the "best" parts of the expert - it was all downhill from there. I didn't realize there was an additional stop at Union station, and that took quite a while. The driver was very friendly and courteous, but the 15-minute rest stop that turned into 20 minutes made it clear that speed isn't really a priority for this service. We arrived at the stop on West 34th Street and 9th Ave at 12:10pm, and while it was much quicker to park there than it is near Penn station, if I have to walk to Penn station anyway, this isn't much of a plus for me. Probably the most annoying thing about today was that my 5:30pm return trip was cancelled due to technical issues and I had to cut my trip half an hour short(er) to get the 5pm replacement trip instead. I appreciate getting an early notification about the return bus snafu so I was able to adjust my plans accordingly, and I know these things can happen, but if I'm going to be on buses and trains for 12 hours in a day, losing that half hour of planned productivity really isn't great I'll allow that BestBus likely has the best service I've experienced on an Intercity bus in terms of courtesy and communication. And the DuPont Circle is super convenient for me before the metro is running on a Saturday. Beyond that though, this isn't my preferred choice for travel to New York.

I will continue to make use of their services, however today marked a low point in my opinion of them. I was on the bus from Richmond to DC. About 35 minutes after departure, the bus driver began slowing down on the highway. I'm talking like 25mph on i-95!!! Not long after that, I and the other passengers noticed a smell similar to burning tires and it became suffocating to be inside the bus. Not longer after the bus stopped on the side of the road did everyone inside get off (after having to plead the bus driver to open the doors!!!!!). We all had to camp on the swampy area on the side of the highway for a good 15 minutes, then re-boarded the burnt tire-smelling bus to wait for the next one for another 25 minutes. I was happy that the backup bus was able to arrive right on the spot. This was one incident out of the hundred times I've ridden their buses so I won't hold it against them entirely. These things happen and they are a business. But it's still something to be cautious and weary of in the future, because in a business involving transportation, it can mean life or death.

All tickets are sold electronically. On the ticket there is a QR code to scan. The process for the boarding in DC is go to their office on H street, check in (they enter the ticket number on the computer), then they sign it. Next you're instructed to walk two blocks to the bus parked on 9th street in front of the public parking entrance across the Renaissance Hotel. When you get there, there maybe a possibly that the bus isn't there yet (like in my case). When boarding, your ticket is checked again. This can be improved if they use the QR system to scan tickets once at boarding. I chose the 10am bus because it does not stop in Baltimore according to their website. The bus today stopped in Baltimore to pick up passengers, the weigh station, and then a Delaware rest stop. Not once did we experience traffic along the way, but with the time spent at the stops, we arrived at Penn Station just before 3pm (an hour later than expected). The joys of taking a Chinatown bus.

So you don't have to walk far with your groceries if you're visiting the market if you're just trying to get back on the metro and go home.
