Working in Montreal for a couple of weeks and it's dinnertime. I found Twister Burger which was didn't have a large amount of ratings, but they had a big menu so I chose them! Here's how it went. Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right off a pretty wide street that doesn't seem like a main road is this gem. There's no private parking lot so you'll have to park on the street in the neighborhood, but I didn't have a hard time finding space. Once inside you're transported back to like... the 40s? 50s? Whenever the soda fountain era was with the black/white checkered walls, neon lights and the whole thing. Lol. It was cute. The restaurant is fairly small and that's okay! It makes for a more comfortable and cozy feel. I got my food to go so I didn't have to stay long. Service: The gentlemen behind the counter was very helpful and make sure I got everything that I needed. He also helped me since most of the menus are in French. Food: I started off with their Taco Salad, but as of now I don't see it listed on their menu anymore. Anyway, it's basically their now Southwest Salad which contains mixed greens, corn, red onion, avocado, fried tortillas and shredded cheese, served with chipotle ranch. But instead of being in a bowl, it's in a fluffy, crispy taco shell which was very flavorful and enjoyable. It worked well. The name of the place is called Twisted Burger so I had to try at least one of them. I decided on the Trio Diablo Burger which is 130g beef (1/3 lb), jalapeños, monterrey jack cheese, habanero salsa, grilled onion, chipotle mayonnaise and lettuce, and tomatoes. It kinda slid apart in transport, but I was able to put it back together at my hotel room and it was fine. Nothing super crazy or explosive to report. It was a decent burger and satisfied my cravings for sure. The beer-battered onion rings were okay too. Nothing special and I don't think I was expecting anything out of this world either. Most beer-battered onion rings taste the same, so it's good that it's a familiar flavor to recognize. Value: My taco salad was $14.95CAD, my burger was $10.95CAD and my onion rings were $4.95CAD. This is a GREAT DEAL on the amount of food I had for sure. Looking for a cheap date, something quick, nothing fancy, I dig this place for sure.

Put raw patty in one side, comes out other end cooked. About 8 cooked burgers sitting at end of grill. When I ordered a cheeseburger, they took one of the burgers and reheated on a flattop grill. The brioche type bun was good. The cheese was only put on burger at cold condiment station. The overall taste of the burger was average. Definitely not a gourmet burger. Thats not how you cook a burger man, come on. If you claim to be gourmet burger do it right. Cook to order. Fries as a side were fresh, hot and crispy. I've order food for take out with only 15 minutes to spare before having to catch my bus. After ordering my poutine and small hamburger and paying for it, I waited for them to call my number. When I picked up my order there were no free tables available so I took my bag and went to my car to eat. The burger was very good. I didn't have a Five Guys burger for a few years since the Five Guys that I normally went to across from the Eaton Center closed a few years ago. Five Guys doesn't have the same price as one of the more widely available fast food chains in Montreal (McDonald's, Harvey's, Burger King, and Wendy's) and they are more expensive. I think that Five Guys burgers taste better than the burgers at the other places that I mentioned. I wasn't crazy about their poutine since I felt that they put too much salt on their fries and they use these same salted fries for their poutine.

I tried the traditional hamburger with cheese and to my surprise it has two patties and two american cheese slices. At 10$ each, this seems a little steep for fast food but the burger was big and filling. My partner got a bacon cheeseburger and found that there was actually too much meat compared to bread ratio, as the bun is rather small and looks like a floppy Mcdonalds bun. I got to try their fries and found them a little too crispy and too cooked for my taste. I'm really more into the mushier "Belle Province" quebec style fries so these were far too hard for my liking, but they are good thickness. Perhaps as a poutine, they would taste much better. Beware this place is very noisy and the open kitchen makes everything including your clothes and hair smell fried so I would recommend taking your meal to go.
