Because that's exactly what it is, a dive. The menu has a variety of things but the only thing I have tried here has been the burgers, curly fries, onion rings, and milkshakes. I love the Cheeseburgers, milkshakes and Curly Fries. Beware you will probably want a nap after eating here but it is totally a locally loved place and is usually packed. When you order you walk up to the little window and wait for your food. It usually takes about 15 minutes when they aren't busy so expect wait times when they are busy. I ordered the chocolate soft serve, and unfortunately, it wasn't for me. It had a flavor that reminded me of popsicle sticks, with a synthetic aftertaste. I wouldn't order it again. In my opinion, Sonic still has the creamiest, best-tasting ice cream. I also tried the burger. The size was comparable to a McDonald's hamburger. The patty was a little on the salty side, but it had good flavor overall. I'd probably order the burger again, although I'd need more than one because it's not very filling. The biggest disappointment was the customer service. The employee at the drive-thru didn't seem very friendly and gave the impression that she didn't enjoy being there. While I was waiting, another customer had been waiting around 20 minutes for his food. When he asked about it, it sounded like his order had been forgotten. They offered him a refund, but he replied, "No, I'm hungry. I want my food." Overall, the food was okay, but I think this place could really improve its customer service and overall experience.

Food is basically bar food at mid range restaurant pricing. If you can walk out of this place with one appetizer and single beer for under $20, please let me know your secret. Don't get me wrong, it's excellent bar food, but once again, it better be at basically 2X what many other places charge. Limited beer selection at prices that would never fly if this place had any real competition. While $5 per pint is pretty much the absolute cap for "normal gravity" craft beer at any of the 16 Tri Cities area breweries, this place charges $5.00 for Michelob Ultra, bottle or draft. $6 for a bottle of Stella. No, I'm not kidding...see their online menu if you doubt this. By the way, beer is served in plastic cups to add insult to injury. This place does have occasional entertainment, but they have no website, they don't list gigs in The Loafer or any other local source. At best you find out *a few hours before* the performance on their FB page - usually the same day. In other words, it's really just "chance" that you end up hearing a band there when you happen to be eating on the same day. All in all, I give this place a "2"...most of that is credit given for the condition of the place. if this were in average shape, it would so be a "1". Don't get me wrong, if you have a company card to pay the bill with, it would actually be a reasonable place to get a beer and snack. They have to be fresh, or they're absolutely terrible. These fries were not fresh. They weren't cold, but it was obvious they had been sitting under a heat lamp turning into dehydrated garbage. So my french fries were terrible, and in the interest of getting the food out fast, they were premade, and had gone totally stale. The burger was okay, but it also didn't seem hot and fresh. The buns were kind of soft despite resembling pieces of toast. Also when I ordered, there were three times I was asked about various upgrades or new menu items. I really hate that. If I want to try the new menu item, I will try it. I hate corporate bullshit. Hardee's has fallen from whatever I remember as a kid, to total crap, and no one even wants to work there anymore.
