Ate there several times in the food was just awful. But apparently they were bought by the people who owned mangoes about three years ago or so, and decided to give it a whirl for a drink. They've completely remodeled the inside and it's much nicer. The staff was fantastic. They have a really cool draft of your system that delivers your beer really cold with very little head. I've seen the system on TV and it was kind of cool seeing it in person. I'm gonna wait to give it a higher rating when I can try the food sometime. But so far they've done a great job.

One of us run out to the car to grab a sweatshirt and when we returned (9:57PM) we were yelled at and hounded for our ID, we said we were 21 and that we just ordered food then was yelled at some more. Once we returned to the table our server comes back and asks if we are 21, 3 of us said no, she then aggressively told us we need to eat and soon and leave immediately after. Which was frustrating as we were never told before ordering that this was a 21+ (we are not from the area). We then got our food and was never seen again by our server. We were waiting for the bill to be delivered and it never came, letting us sit there for another 25 minutes. I then overheard the bartender yelling across the bar to the bouncer (who got there around 10:35) that we were "a table full of minors who needed to leave" when we haven't even gotten our bill. The bouncer came over to the table and asked if we were under 21 and if we are we have to leave. He was very polite and helped us with our situation and told us we probably need to go to the bar to cash out. The server comes back and gives us our bill all on one tab (we told her we were all separate at the beginning and she said it was okay). We went up to the bar and met a man (I'm assuming a manager) he then helped us separate the tabs and let us check out. We were finally able to leave at 10:45PM. The two women who were our server and the bartender were ridiculously rude, unfriendly and I definitely do not want to come back here. I do not recommend.

A waitress immediately came and took our drink order and gave us menus. There was soft easy listening music in the background. We could talk to each other without yelling. We ordered our dinners which was honey chicken and honey salmon. You get to choose two sides. I ordered brussel sprouts and cheesy potatoes. All which were tasty. The waterfront views are beautiful, and if the weather cooperates, there's a patio where you can enjoy breakfast right by the bay. While the parking lot fills up fast, there's additional parking nearby if needed. The food is the real star. I had steak and eggs, and the steak was incredibly flavorful and tasted like quality local beef. The standout, though, was the country fried steak with sausage gravy. That gravy alone is worth the trip. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was fantastic, and even the rye toast comes from a local bakery. Service was friendly and efficient despite how busy they were. We were seated immediately, the turnover was quick, and the prices were surprisingly affordable. I've heard great things about their breakfast nachos and will definitely be trying them next time. This is the kind of place you'll want to return to every time you're in Tawas.

Two cozy dining areas with ample seating arrangements to choose from. One room has a lovely view of the bay. Perfect way to start the day. We were greeted with big smiles and received lots of attention from our server. The staff here are well trained. They hustle and still connect with customers. Most important in the morning.... Hot coffee, fresh brewed and it kept on coming. They know how to win hearts. The menu offered lots of choices. We were hungry and felt very satisfied with our dishes. The shrimp and grits were so cheesy and flavorful. Lots of toppings and really good sized shrimp. It was nice that it also came with toast or English muffin. At this point I didn't even bother commenting on that, because I did not want to make another complaint to our server. The decor inside is very dated, with faded cottonwood branches arrangement from the 80's, dirty brick in the dining room, and Judas Priest's You've Got Another Thing Coming playing on a bluetooth speaker. The carpet is dirty, and they have tumblers on display for purchase. Not really a chophouse, they should change their name to steaks, seafood, sandwiches, Italian dishes, etc. The prices are reasonable, and the menu has a big variety.

Quality of beef is everything in a good restaurant burger, people! Fries were like McDonald's. We shared a Greek antipasto with an enormous slab of good feta cheese, cucumbers, pickled beets, Greek olives, marinated peppers, avocado, red onions and a sweet champagne lemon dressing that was homemade. There was only a bit of spring greens mix, but I can't complain as this wasn't described as a "salad". The brisket was smoked well and was pretty tender. The sweet BBQ sauce caramelized really well with the fat (it's not a lean cut of meat) and produced a great flavor-texture combination. Husband tasted it and agreed it was the best thing to ever come out of Topsiders. We live in East Tawas and have eaten here dozens of times. Old Topsiders was 2.5 - 3.0 stars. We just left Mom in the nursing home dining room and we are driving and I said I am getting a little hungry! So, I make the executive decision to eat at a restaurant with a view of Lake Huron! Lo and Behold there was a resort by the name Tawas Bay Beach Resort and I am sure that they have a restaurant with a fine view of Lake Huron. So, we decide to stop there. The outside was quite nice it sort of reminded me of any other fine Hotel. So we enter by where the restaurant is located and go into the restaurant area. Quite a few people were seated already. Me and my sister thought that maybe there was a family reunion going on at this particular resort. We are seated near a window overlooking Lake Huron. We see sailboats and people on the beach. Very calming and beautiful! The waiter comes out and gives us menus and takes our drink order. Very nice young man, his name is Jake. He takes our food order. We both order a chicken BLT sandwich and it comes with fries. We sit there and take in the ambiance. It is a little loud because there were children, but that is all good! The waiter shared a story about a bald eagle diving for fish in Lake Huron which was quite amusing. He mentioned that he loved his job and it showed through his service. The only thing that he missed was our silverware! But, that was easily solved. I mentioned to him that we do YELP reviews and the next thing you know we both receive a Cannoli on the house! How wonderful. Definitely will go back and if I am not hungry I will just order the Cannoli - OMG it was like heaven on earth! The best dining service ever received in Michigan. The food was amazing. The decor is pretty cool. There's a story behind the two bears on display. Ask about it and you will be intrigued. I highly recommend Northwood Steakhouse. The best dine in restaurant in the city.
