Ate there several times in the food was just awful. But apparently they were bought by the people who owned mangoes about three years ago or so, and decided to give it a whirl for a drink. They've completely remodeled the inside and it's much nicer. The staff was fantastic. They have a really cool draft of your system that delivers your beer really cold with very little head. I've seen the system on TV and it was kind of cool seeing it in person. I'm gonna wait to give it a higher rating when I can try the food sometime. But so far they've done a great job.

A waitress immediately came and took our drink order and gave us menus. There was soft easy listening music in the background. We could talk to each other without yelling. We shared a Greek antipasto with an enormous slab of good feta cheese, cucumbers, pickled beets, Greek olives, marinated peppers, avocado, red onions and a sweet champagne lemon dressing that was homemade. There was only a bit of spring greens mix, but I can't complain as this wasn't described as a "salad". The brisket was smoked well and was pretty tender. The sweet BBQ sauce caramelized really well with the fat (it's not a lean cut of meat) and produced a great flavor-texture combination. Husband tasted it and agreed it was the best thing to ever come out of Topsiders. We live in East Tawas and have eaten here dozens of times. Old Topsiders was 2.5 - 3.0 stars. Me and my sister thought that maybe there was a family reunion going on at this particular resort. We are seated near a window overlooking Lake Huron. We see sailboats and people on the beach. Very calming and beautiful! The waiter comes out and gives us menus and takes our drink order. Very nice young man, his name is Jake. He takes our food order. We both order a chicken BLT sandwich and it comes with fries. We sit there and take in the ambiance. It is a little loud because there were children, but that is all good! The waiter shared a story about a bald eagle diving for fish in Lake Huron which was quite amusing. He mentioned that he loved his job and it showed through his service. The only thing that he missed was our silverware! But, that was easily solved. I mentioned to him that we do YELP reviews and the next thing you know we both receive a Cannoli on the house! How wonderful. Definitely will go back and if I am not hungry I will just order the Cannoli - OMG it was like heaven on earth! Don't recommend if you don't like noise . Plus people right out your window playing cards loudly all night . The front desk was super sweet. Offered to change rooms but we decided we'd stick it out in room 100 and it ended up being much quieter the 2nd night. We tried to get breakfast at their restaurant one morning but only one waitress and she said it would be a long wait. My only other issue was the amount of chlorine in their indoor pool and hot tub , not to mention all The sand in them. There were so many chemicals in that pool, it took us at least a week worth of showers to get the smell off of us. But the beach and tiki bar being right outside your door is the main reason we love this place. The kids love it, we love it. We don't have to drive anywhere while we're here.

They were also giving out our room number to be jerks without verifying they were with the wedding party. We paid $400 to use their arch that they did not decorate. I had to get help with it. The event coordinator Christina, walked past us and didn't acknowledge us after we checked in. It was very rude. As a coordinator, you should check in with your guest once they are settled. I had to go track her down because we needed to go over a few details for the beach wedding. She claimed she wasn't ignoring us but that's a bold face lie. She still did not speak or acknowledge my now husband the entire weekend. She said nothing else to me after I tracked her down the day we arrived. She said she doesn't like bothering guest but that's BS. She was all over taking care of other guest even when she wasn't needed. She kept no communication with us. She also sent someone to tell us my service dog wasn't allowed there when they knew. I had to show the service dog license. We went to the onsite bar after the wedding and the only word she said to my fiancé was "what do you want to drink?" No congratulations, no is there anything else I can do for you. Nothing! We met some awesome ladies there the day we arrived and the following day, they asked the front desk if they could leave a package for us and asked if they knew where we were. They were instantly rude to them as well. Apparently they have issues with LGBTQ people because we witnessed a completely different attitude when they handled other guest. It was extremely upsetting and they made our Wedding Eve terrible! It was so bad it caused a lot of emotions because the treatment was so bad. No one felt welcomed. The bartenders were the only nice people at the resort. Very nice bartenders. PS. They're nice until the day of knowing you get no refund when it's the day of the event.
