Came here after a long day of walking around Amsterdam. It's a cozy spot with one guy on the grille. You can buy a la carte or you can choose to get a plate that comes with fries and a salad. That's what I ordered with bacon and cheese. My hubby ordered a ground chicken burger with bacon and cheese. About the food. Nothing to write home about. The patty was well seasoned and the bun toasted. But it ends there. Would I come back here? Well I love in the US, so most likely no. But even if I did, it would be a no. I had great burgers and this wasn't it. I didn't touch my salad although my husband ate his. They had to redo my burger since I asked for only bacon and cheese. But they ended up dressing it with lettuce and some sauce. Oh, the important thing to note is that they only give you ONE STRIP OF BACON HOW crazy is that? And the bacon I got was RAW!! Small place near the red light district with some outdoor seating as well. The food was nothing to write home about, but more of a means to end our hunger. STAY AWAAAAAY. If you're looking for a burger place please take the extra few minutes to walk to Nude Burger. We got two burgers and an order of fries and it was the worst meal we've had in Amsterdam. The burgers come with one little slice of tomato that barely covers a quarter of the burger and one sad piece of pickle. They probably shouldn't serve the burger open-faced like that because it is the most depressing presentation of food. I was so appalled that I didn't take even a photo of it because it wasn't worth being part of my album. Furthermore, the menu says that all burgers are cooked to "medium baked," I think in Dutch that means "dry af" because that's the burger I was served. At this point in my meal, I did take a photo of my bitten burger to show how dry it looks even in the pic. And the fact that I only got one tiny slice of tomato couldn't save the dryness. The serving of fries was also pathetic. And we paid separately for an order of fries NOT the fries that comes with the "plates" combo by the way. Please I beg you, go to a different burger restaurant. The only reason we even came here is because we needed to get out of the rain and it was the closest burger place. Mistake. read more

I can't fully enjoy a burger without a nice side of fries. My burger was ok. But the fries were meh. Just seems such an incomplete experience. The lamb burger was flavorful although they were a little heavy handed on their "special" sauce which I found a little too sweet and not so special. The bun was actually quite good. But the fries were such a disappointment that I don't know if I could go back. Others seemed to really enjoy their angus burgers so if you're not a fry freak like me then maybe you'll have a better time. read more

I'm glad to see another burger joint open until the wee hours of the morning, especially so close to Dam Square. No more suffering the wasteland of terrible pizza. The menu is nothing special. They don't have any crazy options, and wouldn't serve raw onions on my burger when I asked, only cooked onions. Boooo! And they charge extra for ketchup and mustard is not an option, so I was a little off-kilter not being able to order my usual burger configuration. As for the burger itself, all is forgiven, since the meat was so tender and juicy, I forgot to put my ketchup and samurai sauce on it. The fries were all crispy and delicious, each and every one, and they even gave me a paper bag so I could take half of them home with me. My burger and fries cost €11 with all my extra sauces, but this is Amsterdam, so that's what a decent burger costs. :/ This doesn't hit the spot like Burger Bar does, due to the lack of raw onions thing, but it is a very close second place. In hopes of being proven wrong, I was thoroughly disappointed with the quality of food here. I ordered a veggie burger, only to have a soft patty on a crunchy bread served as the patty broke off in my hand. The flavor was nonexistent as was the apparent "sauce" that was on the burger. Never had I tasted such a sad sandwich. I hope the quality of the food improves and a better use of sauces here as well this could make this place 10X better. The burgers are actually quite okay. Nice buns, great you can choose your own toppings. They have some really nice fresh ones to choose from. The burgers themselves were not medium done as promised but well done instead. A pity. The guys explained that the Dutch (which by the way we all were in our party of three) don't like red meat... Why then put it one the menu we ask... Probably we came across as a bunch of people not really knowing what we really like? The fries that came with the burgers where the usual ones. Nothing special. Service could be better. Pity that they don't serve alcohol. I would've loved a glass of red wine. The music was really loud and annoying. A 3.5 is a better indication of the stars I want to give. A decent burger place in the center? Yes please! Better than Burger Bar, but not as good as some others. It satisfied my craving and the service was friendly though a little slow. I'm not sure what was going on but there was a woman taking the orders, but nobody at the grill...it just a little past noon. You need a cook back there! Overall it was a nice experience. My order was correct, the burger was nicely done, the fries were fine and it was still warm when I got back to my office. Oh and they have free wifi! There are seats for probably two dozen people, so if you want to sit down, that might be an option for you. read more

It's an actually tasty burger! They don't short you in the beef patty, that's for sure. The meat was juicy and had some basic seasoning to it. Pretty standard burgers & standard service. I ordered a veggie burger with pineapple and samurai saus, but I got garlic saus with my meal instead -- which was quickly corrected by switching plates with my friend. My group had also ordered 6 bottles of water but was only served with 5. Once we informed the waiter, he took too long to come out...so one of my friends had to go inside to bring the water. About the food: veggie patty is good, but too soft/crumble-y. It's hard to eat with a burger bun, so ended up eating it with a fork. Samurai saus has a thick mayo base with a light spice taste. Pineapple was grilled sweet and paired well with the patty. Fries are standard, not bad but nothing special. I was randomly strolling the streets of Amsterdam when I got hungry and decided this was a few steps closer to any other place that I probably wouldn't find. I was just looking for a snack to fill myself up so I ordered the most expensive burger there; some kind of japanese beef. The place is small and cozy, as with many other places in Amsterdam, and the grill was in the center so you can see everything being prepared. They don't serve alcohol :( I asked to tried their sauces, and OMG I need those saucesssss! Without going into too much details and adjectives, the burger was perfect. I tried to discretely lick my whole plate as to leave no traces of any sauce wasted. Only had the burger so I can't tell you about the taste of their fries/sides. Will definitely come back for more if I have the chance. read more

I enjoyed my angus burger regardless of my confusion of what I ordered or what I thought I ordered and what I got. Now granted the group I was with more than somewhat overwhelmed the staff with their orders, all at once. They still managed to do a good job. I sat at the counter and watched them make the burgers. It wasn't a great show but a show nonetheless. As I previously stated about my confusion on what I ordered, I thought I ordered an angus burger with cheese and bacon. I got a cheeseburger no bacon. I was wanting an egg on that also but as I previously mentioned I was confused with the menu and ordering and all and well, I got what I got. It was a satisfying burger with a wealth of fries. Jamming up into an already cramped gourmet burger bar market, I'd say this place averages out with the rest of them (a lot better then Mac still), but in terms of delivery (the messed up about 50% of the ingredients in our order) and service (chaotic at best), lacks any distinguishing factors. In an age where gourmet burgers are almost as commoditized as regular ones, you need to do better to stand out. After all, Burger Bar is never more then a walk away. read more

Would give 3.5 stars if I could. Neighborhood burger place, served from fresh ground beef. They have different levels of beef quality, have tired them and didn't notice much difference, so stick with the default one [cheapest]. Small seating area, can get swamped quickly with tourists so be sure to have your friend serve as a seating minder while you order at the register. You have been warned ;-) read more

Burgers are fine. But this tiny burger bar has terrible personnel. I ordered a 250 gr. burger (there have 200 and 250 gr.). I had been here before and when I got the burger it didn't look any bigger. Specially right next to the huge burger on the next table. I asked the waitress if it was a 250 gr. burger and she rudely dismissed the possibility of them being able to make mistakes "because they weigh the burgers" and walked away. So I went to the bar and asked the burger flipper: if you ordered a 250 gr, that's what you got. They didn't want to talk to me at all, didn't acknowledge or answer my questions. Really disenchanted with this spot, looked way better and nicer from the outside. The front of the restaurant was super noisy, loud music and kitchen sounds, and the acoustics were awful. We sat in the back hoping for more peace and quiet. Ordered burgers, which were cheap enough, but really just glorified fast food, where you still have to buy every damn thing as an extra. Acoustics in the back were terrible as well, and noisy neighbors were just about to get a steak knife in the back when the food came. Super crumbly, dry veggie burger and 3 regular. One measly slice of cheese (extra of course) and two pickle slices - wow. Bun very shiny and all brioche lookalike, but very dry. The staff put dirty dishes in the dumb waiter right next to our table which was noisy as all get out, and the trash can where they dumped leftovers slammed such every 5 seconds. They get 2 stars for the staff being friendly (even though they spoke German to us trying to be friendly - um, not German but whatevs) and also because I think if you're pissed off your tits and just coming down from that tremendous bong you had sitting by the canal, then you're in for a treat! read more
