The Angus beef patty tasted pretty much the same as USA's (the place reminds me of Good Stuff Eatery), but the sauces were definitely unique. Ketchup and mayo were mildly sweeter than USA. Truffle sauce had a very strong truffle flavor but was really good. Very big burgers, lots of toppings, worth the prices. One 200-gram burger was more than enough to fill me up, and then you add fries on top of that? Boy, that was really more than enough to fill me up right away! This burger was actually really amazing. We didn't want to wait in the fat line for pancake house so we came here and it was so insanely juicy and flavorful. Really enjoyed it. I got a basic 200g w bacon and eggs and I thought that was just right. The second sandwich had amsterdam cheese but the flavor was just lost in the sandwich so I wouldn't really suggest spending money on that option. Also the service was amazing. After spending a few days in Amsterdam, I was definitely craving a nice meaty meal to end my trip. ...and no, I did not have or need the munchies to enjoy this! There are a few Burger Bar chains located around near Central Station. This spot in particular is tiny and purely meant for takeout, although there are some seats inside. When you approach the restaurant, the smell of sizzling meat fills your nostrils, and the long queue made me want the burger even more. You first order your burger and any toppings and sides you want, pay, and then wait for your number to be called. I order a medium-rare cheeseburger with avocado, since my California self loves the buttery green fruit. It took about 15 minutes for my burger to be done so be patient. My burger was on fire! Juicy meat with great condiments and fries to accompany this meal. I scarfed it down instantly and was impressed with how good it was. There were so many burger bars in Amsterdam that it made me a bit hesitant going into one, especially being in Europe. In the end, it was after 11pm and all the restaurants and kitchens close early in Amsterdam, so I was happy enough to see that Burger Bar was open, along with other burger shops, so I decided to make a visit. I ordered the main burger that was on the top of the menu. I was shocked at how good it was! For fast/casual food, Amsterdam has sure raised the bar. The burger was cooked to perfect medium, it was super juicy, flavorful, and you can taste the meat! It was on point - delicious! I don't think it is something I would go out of way for, as the service was kind but slow... and just okay, but the burger was good! Ambiance was like a fast food shop, so fine for what it is. Overall, 4/5 stars! Would have been a 5 if service was a little bit faster; didn't like seeing other people's food come out before mine, especially given the fact that they ordered after me and I was solo, unlike other folks who were couples or more. read more

We are Americans visiting Amsterdam. Couldn't find any traditional Dutch spots near our hotel, so we tried Burger Bar. It has great reviews and the line was nearly out the door. We snagged a seat. The line took about 30 min. My mom got the Irish Blue burger and I ordered the Cheesy. Both came with steak fries. The fries are really plain and the sauce is nothing special (I got garlic aioli). My burger was cooked well-done as expected. Mom's can super rare, evem those she ordered medium rare. They recooked one for her. My burger was okay--good, not great. I exprcted it to have more melty cheese. There were only 2 slices of cheese for the Cheesy burger, and they were barely melted. There was way too much arugula on it as well. Definitely not worth the hype. Honestly, I'd prefer most burgers at home much better--even 'high end' fast food like SmashBurger is better. My mom enjoyed her burger, even though she had to wait close to an hour for it. Atmosphere-wise, it's cute and simple inside. Not much seating for a super popular spot. They play a nice variety of music softly in the background--mostly pop songs. I wouldn't return. Hopefully, we'll find some bomb Dutch food tomorrow! read more

I initially went here with a friend to have a burger but the menu at this location has more to offer than the other locations. So on a whim since it had been awhile I decided to try the angus rib eye steak, medium rare. With that I ordered fries and a small caesar salad that came with tomatoes and anchovies. For a small salad it was fairly good sized and the best caesar salad I've had in awhile. The steak came first and was actually medium rare, tender and tasted great. Frankly, I'd expected less but was more than glad to get more. Along with the steak came a small bowl of coleslaw. It was actually some very tasty coleslaw at that. To top it all off I ordered a beer to go along with the meal. Now this turned out to be a good sized meal that I was actually enjoying. I say that with relish as a good meal is a very nice treat after so many "ho hum ones". They also serve a steak sandwich at this location that I'll have to come back and try. After that I'll have to go back and maybe try a burger. The location is a busy one so there's lots of people coming and going most of the time. Even so there's still seating available. This place was one of the suggested places to eat in Amsterdam. I'm glad I was able to make it in on my trip. The atmosphere is very cool and relaxed. It's small and maybe holds about 50 people at a time. The place is usually packed because it's so good. I was glad to have caught it on a night where we were able to get a table. The grill is right in the dining area so you can see your food being prepared. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and onion rings. You say, " what's so great about that"? Best chicken sandwich and onion rings I've had in a long time. The chicken grilled perfectly so that it was still moist. The onion rings had a crunchy tempura type batter that was delicious and not at all greasy. Checked off my bucket list but on my next visit to Amsterdam I'll be sure and stop by again for dinner. Had a Irish beef burger for breakfast at 9am in the morning. I only added jalapeños and it tasted amazing. The beef patty was the perfect size and cooked to medium well. The sauce they used with all the other toppings had a great blend which added the right amount of flavour without overpowering the beef. I work in a kind of posh industry, so it always intrigued me that so many of my coworkers would recommend a seedy fast-food joint in the heart of tourist Amsterdam. But they were right. The burgers here are top-notch. I had a burger with avocado and it was delicious, my friend had the chicken burger and raved about her fries. The service sucks though. It goes without saying that the atmosphere is plastic, fluorescent and loud, but they also just plainly don't listen to you. I got charged twice, so my 12 euro meal turned into a 24 euro meal. And I asked for no bun which... didn't happen. So taking all that into consideration, and the fact that they still are nowhere near as amazing as The Butcher, I probably won't return. I came here shortly after the craziness of NYE had died down on January 1st and wow what a meal to ring in the new year! Some have New Year's resolutions of healthy diets, which is why I decided to go with Wagyu beef instead, cooked medium rare with cheddar cheese and a side of frites. Well boys and girls, all 270 grams of that burger down to the last bite was absolutely delicious and can go down as one of the best burgers I've ever had. As a matter of fact, I've been dreaming of the Burger Bar every night since I've been back in the states. So at the end of the day (or during or after midnight) you can't go wrong with the Burger Bar. So you may be paying a few extra euro for the Wagyu beef and place your order, and be able to walk around the entire city, and come back just in time for your order to be up, but damn is that a tasty burger! read more

This is my second favorite Burger Bar location. They have very limited seating, but if you can get a seat at the bar it's cozy place to eat while watching them make food. It's a madhouse trying to get a burger here at lunch time, with long lines and impatient staff, and they don't let you order over the phone so they're kind of a pain in the butt to order from in general. According to their website they have more menu items at this location, but some things are not available anymore, like the hot wings for example, and you won't know it until you try to order them and they tell you they're not available. Some of the other alternative items are not so good, like the onion rings, which are sad and tasteless, so I'd stick with the main menu items if you want to make sure to get the good stuff. All those problems aside, they have a great burger and fries. I highly recommend them if you have a burger craving and are in the neighborhood. read more

Don't think I've ever wolfed a burger so fast, I was like a fiend Only thing is the fries, they're a little bit boring and tbh they could have been a lot better! It was my third time at Burger Bar (second at Warmoestraat), and this visit, like the previous ones, was really worth the price. It is quite common to hear or read that Amsterdam burgers are really good and this place is good example of this. First, you have to order the kind of meat you prefer (including chicken, in case you dont like beef), then the toppings, and finally fries with or without sauce. It is easy to make up your mind: a moderate set of options, but wide enough to accommodate most of the tastes :). Most of the times you have to share the table with more people, but this seems rather typical here in Amsterdam. The burger is really good, so are the toppings. I like the fries buy frankly I think that one portion and one sauce could fit two people, so that is my advice: share the fries and especially the sauce. The point that I like least: the door is always open and It makes a bit uncomfortable if you happen to sit close to the entry. Tip: There are another Burger Bar in a ten-minute walk from here that is thought to take the burger away. Actually, you can also have the burger there but is really small. read more

Tasty food, no doubt. This place presents itself as a "bar", as a kind of made to order with lots of options possible. I believe there are 3 patty choices, about 5 cheese choices, 6 toppings, the fries with another 8 or so sauces, and maybe 5 choices of milkshakes. The thing is, within 15 minutes i observed them get consecutive orders "wrong". My order was missing the mushrooms i ordered and paid for, and the customer after me got the wrong flavor milkshake. Maybe the combinations are too complicated for the staff. In any case, be careful, and check your order. read more
