When Burgers and Beer first opened and for years following you couldn't find a better burger anywhere else. I don't know what changed but around 2022-2023 the food was not good anymore. I stopped going. When they closed all the other locations and opened the new one in Bradley I decided I would try it again because maybe they realized something needed to change and brought back the original menu. I was sadly disappointed to find out that the burgers still aren't good and they took away the original steak fries that they had. Please, please, PLEASE bring back the original food that used to make this place so great. read more

Food is terrible. Taste is awful. Stop crossing chicken, fish and fries in same oil, change out oil more often. Season your beef, check your tots more often or research proper cooking time and temp. This place was ok 11 years ago, but has since fallen off the trail, for run over and smooshed into the ground. Do better or close up shop. My bill for 2 adults and 3 small children was not even close to worth the $91. My kids even disliked their basic foods. After reading lots of positive reviews, I might have gotten my hopes too high. It was good, but not worth a 2nd trip. Our group of 5 was happy enough, but we left feeling greasy. To their credit, there are lots of options, and it took awhile to decide as many sounded good. In the end, I went with the Hot Head, two others went with the Sweet Ringer and two others ordered custom. The burgers were a good size, but the other ingredients seemed to just miss it (apart from the bacon which was awesome). For example, the grilled pineapple seemed like it was just a ring of pineapple pulled out of a can and slapped on a grill. Ok, but not worth writing home about. Unfortunately, the curly fries and the buns were super greasy. The tots however, were crispy and well salted. Let me begin with, The service was excellent. Natalia was attentive with my Father and myself, and several Tables around us. I haven't been here in years and it's good to see the Wait staff as professional as they have been with an Ambiance to match. So, why the two star review? The food, I ordered the buffalo blue bird. It's a fried Chicken sandwich dressed with Buffalo sauce and gourmet blue cheese crumbles, with an order of steak fries. I've had this before and it was a pretty good classic. I started with the steak fries, first few were warm, followed by a scorcher. An absolute fire in my mouth. So, I stopped, and let everything cool down a bit before moving onto the sandwich, after a few moments I lift the sandwich up and take one bite, my teeth don't even cut through the chicken by the time my mouth is just covered in hot grease and left over fry oil. So I throw it down and make my way to the restroom to find a quiet spot to shoot off some expletives away from the Children around me. I make my way back, tongue burnt, skin of the roof of my mouth already peeling, lips tingling, with no more taste in my mouth. I couldn't eat it, I was served something that for the first time in my life felt unsafe and So, I was sending it back while notifying why. my server Natalia asked "If I'd like a box?" And replied "No" jokingly adding "I wouldn't likely be able to taste by the time it goes bad anyways". Natalia took away the Plate of napalm and returned quickly with Ice and water for my ailments, which I really appreciated. But then the bill came, and sure enough, the Molten core parading as a sandwich with just teeth marks on the bun. Was on the tab, so I took the bill thinking this was just a misunderstanding up to the bar, and what I can assume is the manager by the different colored red shirt pulled Natalia out to speak with me, and she informed me that Policy states that because I was asked and turned down the gracious offer of a Box, I paid for the sandwich to be thrown away. So I left it on the tab, And paid Graciously for the service, I'm not here to argue with a waitress about a policy she has no control over. Great service, best water and ice in town, two stars. They "nickel & dime" you for extras. $2.75 for gravy on the fries, 65 cents for extra garlic dressing for salad. Background music is not conducive to eating. Service is at par for this type of restaurant. They serve Pepsi products. You can't be number 1 if you don't serve number 1. I stayed with Adams ale. The burger was very good. Fries were also good. Had the garlic mushroom burger. Patty eas cooked to perfection. The meat has a unique flavor to it that makes it very tasty. It could've had more mushrooms on it, though. Our server needs to learn table etiquette. Every time I said thank you to her, she said "yeah". First time coming here, came with a party of 18 people as part of a wedding. The first couple things I was shocked by is how abysmal the parking situation here is especially on the weekend and these people will park worse than they do in Chicago. I'm surprised with a party our size and how busy they were they were nice enough to wait over an hour for tables to clear so we can all sit down and eat. The locals here are really nice and courteous. I was even chatting with one of the locals. During this time we we're waiting we were having drinks to kill time. They have sangrias here so I was happy with that. After being finally set down to our table I felt bad because we had only one waitress serving us just and everyone requested seperate checks. Usually in these scenarios they usually have multiple waitresses but our one waitress took on all 18 of us order by order absolutely no issues. We got our food and it took much quicker than anticipated, but the food got here that's where this place really started to shine. Their burgers were absolutely phenomenal and probably the best thing I've eaten all year. It was so good alot of my friends couldn't even finish it and they all had the same opinions as I did. We definitely left satisfied. On top of it all, not a single order was messed up either. Waitress deserves a raise! During this time waiting some of the guys won a couple hundred bucks at their gaming machine. Other aspects of the restaurant I wanted to point out was that this place is a great diner themed place. Solid local burger joint. After moving our daughter to U of I for her Junior year, we wanted dinner but not around campus. Kankakee, at an hour from school and Burgers & Beer seemed like the perfect fit. We were not disappointed. We took exit 308 and drove a few miles off route 57. We were grated by a crowded parking lot at 7:30 on a Thursday night, normally a good sign. We walked in and sat down at a bustling burger joint (hence the name). Being hungry from moving, we ordered 2 burgers - one with Mac n cheese on the side and the other GF with grilled jalapenos and baked beans on the side. Both came out perfectly cooked and definitely home made. My wife thought it was outstanding I was satisfied as I like mine with a little more char. The sides came out cold but our server Allison brought us fresh, hot sides in no time. Overall, we came away pleased. Unfortunately, my visit to that establishment on Saturday with my family left us with NO desire to ever return. Their menu had a great variety of burgers that sounded amazing. The service definitely showed that the fairer skinned customers receive better attention. Our group of 8 was seated promptly since we were the only ones there. It took 10 minutes before our drink order was taken. At this point there weren't any other customers in the establishment. This establishment wasn't understaffed as there were at least 3 individuals near the bar and another server. There were various patrons that were seated and served within 1/2 hour!!! My tolerance for such treatment took its toll when a group of 11 seated near us received their appetizers within 15 minutes of being seated. We were there for 45 minutes with no appetizers or ANY staff to update us on our meal or refill our beverages. When it's been a long day in K3, I need a beer. And this is a great place to go relax, listen to jukebox music and eat some good grub! They have a fine beer menu, especially for K3, except for one other joint I'll review soon! The service is always wonderful at the tables and the bartenders are kind and occasionally funny! We can't pass up the stuffed pretzel, as it's spicy and not huge, like the other pretzel, but it's large enough for 2. Sometimes we also order the fried pickles because being a Florida girl now, that just isn't something we see very often, surprisingly for Southerners, on our menus!? Then, we get varied burgers...my personal favorite is the green olive burger! It makes me so happy to be able to order a VERY RARE burger and actually receive it as such. This is one of the few places that have faith in their beef, I guess! I have seen other people at our table order the chicken sandwich and are very pleased, as well as the grilled cheese with bacon! Good choices, but I'm a burger girl! The parking lot can get pretty full on the weekend evenings, but otherwise it's plenty big.
