Nowhere on their website do they tell you what the price is for heating oil. I ordered a delivery and it was roughly TWICE what i normally pay for oil. I understand oil prices are increasing but i never would have had this oil delivered if i knew i would be paying $6.949 a gallon. If you go to a restaurant, the prices are on the menu. If you get an oil change they tell you what it will cost. You buy a dozen eggs you know how much you will be paying. It seems like they are intentionally trying to deceive you by not telling you what the cost of their product is. I called to see if they would do something for me and they offered a payment plan and a $.25 reduction per gallon. I also told them to come and pump it out and give me a refund which they would not do. Shame on you Burke for intentionally deceiving your customers. I will not be using them again. read more

I recently had Burke Energy Service for my AC unit HAVC under the service contract But found it a complete rip-off The technician spent maybe 40 minutes and put 2 lbs of freon gas, and changed a dual capacitor. They charged me $ 150 per pound of freon gas and 360 for a capacitor The maximum price for freon is 20- 30 per pound, and the maximum price for a dual capacitor is 30-49 bucks They just want to take your clothes out Will never recommend to anyone Basically, it is a scam read more

So disappointed with this company. They provided a $125 credit for signing up with them for oil delivery. Rented the house out after 4 months and the new renter continued with them as the oil provider. They wanted the $125 credit back even though we continued with them as the provider and wouldn't give the credit to the new renter even if I paid them back. read more

Oil deliveries do not come for eight to ten days and the last delivery I had I called for a fill and when they came they put 18 gallons in my tank and left i had to call my neighbors company to fill it and now use them. Stayed home from work for my annual cleaning and got a call the same morning saying that other service calls are taking priority over my appointment and nothing could be done. In addition, a follow up visit was never scheduled and now that I finally remember to call Burke to get a follow up visit from Sept 2025 in Feb 2026, they advised that they are not taking annual cleaning Appointments until April 2026. She was scheduled for a 2025 cleaning (3/18) because Burke didn't manage their scheduling last year. They never showed up! I called for her and first they said they couldn't talk to me since I'm not on the account - yet the hospital, police, insurance all spoke to me. When I reminded her my daughter lost her husband and had a 3 and 6 yr old - she snapped back "I just lost my mother" REALLY?! I explained the difference between burying a parent vs a son. Then I spoke to another rep and he too repeated the same garbage and then said since she closed the account for 2026, all services are cancelled. Meanwhile they made an unscheduled deliver this year. I mentioned that was a 2025 contractural obligation that needed to be fulfilled since she paid for it and THEY scheduled in 2026. He just repeated the same garbage - people with no compassion! Through inertia, we stuck with Burke for 45 years, even though they let us run out of oil 4 times in 4 years. We told them we'd add one star for each subsequent year they didn't let us run out of oil, so currently we were at 3 stars when their annual checkup on our system revealed a dangerous leak in our heat exchanger, necessitating a replacement. We contacted several companies, and Burke was the highest price with the lowest capacity & efficiency replacement unit. And incidentally, we discovered (late August, 2025) they were charging us $4.48/gal for oil; we switched to Mitchell @ $3.29/gal. We'd been suckered for 45 years! Their service department is pretty good, though we had to call them a couple of years ago when they had to replace the oil tank and left it on our driveway blocking the garage. have used Burke for 25 years and decided to look at reviews when they failed to provide prompt service for a problem they caused when they installed a new water tank. on top of that, the leak which they say was caused by a hole in the old water tank is still happening, only now the puddle has gone from a small one to flooding the whole corner of the basement. I would give 0 stars if possible. I realized last week that Burke has been charging us a price of over $4.3 per gallon of heating oil when all the other companies are charging $3.3-$3.5 I have contacted them twice already to close the account and to have the outstanding balance reimbursed. Both times they kept me on the phone for 20 minutes and in the end the 'supervisor' was not available. I was told that I cannot close the account without personally speaking with said supervisor the supervisor would call me back by the end of the day, but he/she hasn't. I should have read reviews on this company. I am so disappointed with their service. A service man came to my home to check on the air conditioning units. He was here less then ten minutes. Asked my nineteen year old daughter to order the filters on amazon and showed her how to replace them. I have been in this house for twenty-five years and never had I have been asked to do any of this. I have had other companies service our home. I have placed two calls and not one person has call me back. I need the filters installed and I also do not want to pay for them to come back and install them. Our bedroom temperature was in the 50 despite the thermostat settings. We called our oil supplier, Burke Energy the next morning. In a couple hours, two technicians Gary Smalley and AJ arrived. The quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced the zone valve. They were neat, polite and efficient, I highly recommend Burke Energy. read more

Back in May 11th I scheduled three cleanings for my properties in the morning between 8-12 today June 15th, 2023. Two days ago on Tuesday I received a confirmation email for one of the properties. No one showed up at the first property this morning so by 10 I called the general number to see where my tech is. I was first told my appts were for the afternoon. I said no, and upon checking Burke said they were changed and I was called. That is a lie. I received no calls or texts or emails Both myself and a tenant missed work and meetings to be available for these annual cleanings. This company is very unprofessional and does not keep their appts. I am very disappointed with them. I cancelled all contracts today and am reviewing other companies. Robinson has better prices and looks good as we review options. Sad to be forced to leave Burke. I spent over a quarter million with them over the past 30 years. read more

Burke is at it again. I just recently went into contract to sell my house in January 2024. My oil agreement with them ended on December 31, 2023. They just sent me a bill for $399 for an early termination. what's wrong with them? I wish I could give no stars because this is the third time I've had problems with them. The breakdown of my aging combined hot water heater/ boiler meant I was without hot water and needed a complete replacement of my entire unit ASAP. Finding a company to install an Energy Kinetics boiler in our area was not easy with Burke Energy being one of the few factory authorized dealers. They sent an estimator, Michael, to my home within 48 hours of my call who patiently answered all of my questions and returned the estimate within 24 hours. Erin and Kelly in the office were both extremely helpful as we booked the job and as Kelly arranged required permits. The boiler was delivered from NJ and the installation commenced within three business days. The team of Chris, Jay and James arrived in three trucks and even brought along an electric hot water heater that they connected to my washing machine connections to to make sure we had hot water from the first night of the three day install. What an outstanding professional team in every respect! - neat, clean, knowledgeable and responsible. Chris was constantly communicating with me throughout the three days this job took and finished on time. The install itself is a thing of beauty - their plumbing plan and connections left me more open floor space (cramped laundry room) than I had with a previous boiler that was somewhat smaller. He found the lining of our 28 year old combustion chamber (oil burner) to be disintegrating and the carbon monoxide reading dangerously high. He was able to cleanup and patch up the chamber so that we have hot water until we can get to an upgrade. The CO level is safe. His service was exceptionally efficient and courteous. I'm shocked to see Burke has any stars. They are ok with filling oil and their install and techs Jimmy and Donny are top notch. Unfortunately when it comes to the managers of the sales and install departments, Lynn and John, they leave A LOT to be desired if the install doesn't go accordingly. I had a new oil burner installed on March 22, 2021. Clearly it hadn't been measured or measured properly because when the techs finished installing, the door on the closet that houses the unit, didn't close. The motor stuck out too far. Ok so they need to order a shorter piece that attaches the motor. After a couple weeks of waiting for that, they finally get it In and installed. It's still too big because the door closes, unless the cover on the motor, then door doesn't close. After my m constant calling and trying to deal with the install manager John to get this resolved, he goes on vacation and leaves me hanging without notice and Lynn the sales manager takes over. Talk about attitude and the left hand not knowing what the right one is doing. Finally after more than 2 months since the initial install, they get in an entirely different motor, it is installed and the door closes. Now my argument with them is trying to get back a measly credit they promised me for all of my time and aggravation. After reading the reviews on credit, I can see it's going to take a lot more time and aggravation. But I'm here for it. Atrocious at best is how I can describe this company. read more

On October 4, as a Premium service customer, I wrote a Yelp review of Burke Energy charging me $435 for turning 5 screws to the left and to the right to bleed 5 valves (after he repaired the furnace). The technician did good work, but did not want to give me the bill. He said wait for the bill in the mail. I told him to please give the bill now. He told me that I wouldn't like the bill, because Burke was charging me $435 for bleeding the valves. I said you did not tell me there was any charge for that and I could have easily turned those 5 screws to the left and right by myself. He said, that his supervisor yelled at him after the valves were bled, "to charge me". Here is the thing. When I wrote that post, a little bot shows up below, saying she is Jenna a Burke business manager and she is so concerned. It is fake. Burke never actually calls you. I have called many times. I have filled out the contact form on their website. BURKE DOES NOT RESPOND. Burke will send you emails that they are so concerned, promising to call but they do not. I was also told that I could request the first appointment of the day which I did because I had my grandson's graduation from grade school around 9am - figured I would be a little late but I would still make it in time to see him. I do have a lot of help and advice from friends and family. But many problems pertaining to a house is new rosds to me . This summer I had Burke Energy maintenance my AC unit I asked the technician if he checked my gas furnace he responded yes and he wanted to change filter which I informed him I do every 3 months and it's recent . He told me all good. Which it probably was. Thursday Dec 21 I came home and noticed my house was very cold I checked my thermostat called a few friends to trouble shoot . Checked air flow from vents which was only blowing cold air. The furnace was making bumping noises. Again new to me.What do I do????? Call the company that maintenance this summer Burke Energy . I am not blaming them that they did something wrong I realize things break but they are a reputable HVAC company ( so I thought). They told me a tech will be there from 7p-10p no tech came next a tech will come from 10p-3a. At that point I said can they come in am. Dec 22 a tech came at around 9am look at gas furnace said "oh Boy " 3 times and got up to leave I ask what that meant he said I do oil not gas he left. I call Burke Energy . They said another tech will come from 10a-5p . As I call all day no tech arrive I told them please if you can't do the job let know so I can another company 5:30 another tech came as he walked through the door he said " I don't know why they sent me here I don't service gas furnaces only oil furnaces ". I ask the office why do keeping sending the wrong tech . They said they don't know why the techs keep telling me they do not know how to do the job . My response is THEY ARE NOT TRAINED ON GAS FURNACES. That would be dangerous. 2am another tech came gas furnace trained who informs he is not the only tech who works on gas furnace they have day gas techs . He cleaned my flamed sensor in 10 minutes and now I have heat. Needless to say live and learn I will never use Burke Energy again and now I wonder about the maintenance they did in the summer. DO NOT DEAL WITH BURKE! Fast forward and Burke is still a bad actor. Blower motor failed in a brand new air handler they installed and filed paperwork for a 10 yr warranty. Took them almost 3 weeks from diagnosis to completing the repair, so we were down 1 zone of A/C during the hottest part of the summer. No apologies, no temporary repair. Repairs are done and I get a bill for over $2k, and I had to fight with them about the warranty coverage. Then I get a call from their propane service, and they won't deliver propane to me because the filler was covered in dirt from erosion, and Burke does not clear them out. I had to find a solution on my own. Never mind that the cover was somehow misshapen and not closing properly. I close my accounts which had almost a $900 credit balance. I call today to see when they were sending me my credit, only to find out they decided to keep $500 of it for "labor charges" related to the warranty repair of the a/c blower. They take every opportunity to squeeze extra money from you and are a nightmare to deal with. I don't know if I will ever see my $500. Not surprised that their reviews and ratings are so low. After they swallowed up Sclafani who I never had a problem with my service went downhill. I asked them to call me before delivering oil and they totally ignored my request delivering oil twice at inflated prices much higher than other local companies. I am a Burke customer for over fifty years. The service is good but their prices much higher than the market price. Most companies in the area are at about $4/gallon. The service is overall mediocre - the billing is confusing and the website does not provide a clear view of debits and credits - to get the info, be prepared to call and wait from 5-10 mins to get a representative. The deal breaker, however, are the prices: they are absolutely of our sync with the market - Burke charges around 20% above market. As of today, March 16, 2019, Burke is charging more than $4.00 per gallon while the average, as per the The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority is around $3.40*. Could not be happier with the level of customer service provided, particularly from Mike Z who runs the delivery operations; we had a ton if issues at the start of the heating season and after Mike Z personally got involved it all went smooth as can be.... He personally made sure Mom's house NEVER ran out or even low on oil despite (1) small tank and HIGH usage - Mom needs it real warm so heavy user, and (2) weather - always watching the forecast for snow or temps and adjusted the schedule accordingly, and (3) huge COVID impact to his crew. See lots of references to higher than normal price but dont see any evidence of over charging, last drop was $2.96/gallon while state wide average was $3.04 and $3.08 in WestCo (link below)...
