White River Toyota - The brand new face of White River Toyota!

    White River Toyota

I purchased a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road from White River Toyota in January, 2018. Alexis Secore was…read moremy Sales Consultant. I did my homework and started my vehicle hunt two weeks before my purchase. I visited five different dealerships on-line comparing vehicles and prices in both NH and VT. I received a great price offer from a dealer in NH and I was pretty sure I was going to purchase that vehicle but I thought I would try White River to see what they could offer. After a quick and easy volley of emails and one or two telephone calls I made an appointment to meet With Alexis. It's great when you get what you want for a price that you believe is reasonable. There were no gimmicks or hidden surprises. Alexis made it easy. So, thank you Alexis and thank you White River Toyota. I got a great vehicle for a great price and the time between my initial visit and when I drove the vehicle off the lot was minimal. I basically purchased my vehicle on a hand-held device!

On the day of the appointment, my car wasn't fully serviced when I picked it up. I still don't know why many of the requested services were skipped--I was only given a final sheet listing a few completed items. Was the shop busy that day? Do you usually assume that customers want to pay as little as possible? Or did someone just decide by appearance that I wouldn't be able to afford the full service? (I'm a proud Native American, by the way.) Or were some of those services considered unnecessary at the time? Overall--I'm still gonna wonder, why? I didn't report or argue about it at the office afterward. I was on medical leave at the time and dealing with a lot of pain, so I didn't have the energy to handle the inconvenience on top of everything else. Despite this, the shop still did a good job--my car drives noticeably smoother after this partially disappointing service. (I can only imagine how great it could have been if the full maintenance had been completed.) I've been loyal to Toyota for a long time in my homeCountry, but honestly, this first maintenance experience has completely ruined my US-Toyota impression. It added up to my very first experience with this same branch, where I waited months to receive the spare key included in my car purchase. No one contacted me for months, and when I finally reached out, the office said they had simply "forgotten" to cut it.

Sometimes crap happens when you need it the least and Randy has always bailed me out when it did. If I had one complaint it would be that most times I was never called to say the car was done(not a bad complaint. At least it wasn't another week) Most jobs were done in one day, they were happy to give me a ride home or pick me up if needed. I have sent a load of people here because of the great service I have gotten.

They fit me in the next day, which was great. The price was a bit higher than I expected, but I did not complain. Today I went in for an inspection and to top off my front differential fluid. I arrived on time, but waited 15 minutes for them to get started because the workers (I'm not sure I would call them mechanics) were laughing and joking around. Thirty minutes later I learn that I failed inspection due to worn upper ball joints. I ask if they checked my differential fluid. They had forgotten. Another thirty minutes later "James" is back to inform me that they added 1/2 quart of fluid and he had an estimate for the ball joints. He starts explaining the different options based on the quality of parts and I see the estimate is over $1100. I stop him mid sales pitch and tell him that I am not going to spend that much on ball joints. He loses his cool, crumples up the estimate, throws it in the garbage, and tells me that I wasted his time. I explain that I know how much ball joints cost (retail $150), about how much time it takes (~5-6 hours with a lift if you know what you are doing and do upper/lower at the same time). I tell him I expected the price to be closer to $500. I also tell him the price for my alternator last fall was too high, and that I would fix the ball joints myself. That was about all he could stand. He angrily tells me that they don't want customers like me, anyway. He billed me $60 for the the failed inspection (this is standard), $21 for 1/2 quart of fluid (retail is $14/quart, so 300% mark up); and 1/2 hour labor for adding the fluid. I paid and told him I would not be back and would be writing a review about his unprofessional behavior. I called about an hour later to speak to the owner. He wasn't there so I left a message. I also emailed him, no reply yet. I never yelled or raised my voice to during this strange encounter. I was just firm and not intimidated by his angry reaction. Luckily I only had to deal with them on the estimate, I could only imagine how things would go if I agreed to $1100 worth of work with these guys. Like many other reviews warn, stay away from this place!
