I purchased a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road from White River Toyota in January, 2018. Alexis Secore was my Sales Consultant. I did my homework and started my vehicle hunt two weeks before my purchase. I visited five different dealerships on-line comparing vehicles and prices in both NH and VT. I received a great price offer from a dealer in NH and I was pretty sure I was going to purchase that vehicle but I thought I would try White River to see what they could offer. After a quick and easy volley of emails and one or two telephone calls I made an appointment to meet With Alexis. It's great when you get what you want for a price that you believe is reasonable. Only giving it 2 stars because the general manager stepped in, Bill, I wanted to give it 1 star. Went for a heater core, somehow left with clogged AC lines that had been hooked up wrong, on top of that a blower motor that was working great that I have to pay 400 dollars out of pocket for. They broke my door on my driver side when that wasn't even in the same area as the thing they were fixing. Instead of admitting wrong, or even trying to upsell a new blower motor they just put it back together broken and gave it to me. I've noticed a lot of people in reviews saying their service department sucks, that's a major understatement. Unsure what's going on with this service department but I'm taking my fleet of 10 Toyotas elsewhere to get worked on. Will not be returning. I contacted the office to book an appointment and requested a full maintenance service. The final cost wasn't discussed, and I didn't try to negotiate it or bargaining. On the day of the appointment, my car wasn't fully serviced when I picked it up. I still don't know why many of the requested services were skipped--I was only given a final sheet listing a few completed items. Was the shop busy that day? Do you usually assume that customers want to pay as little as possible? Or did someone just decide by appearance that I wouldn't be able to afford the full service? (I'm a proud Native American, by the way.) Or were some of those services considered unnecessary at the time? Overall--I'm still gonna wonder, why? I didn't report or argue about it at the office afterward. I was on medical leave at the time and dealing with a lot of pain, so I didn't have the energy to handle the inconvenience on top of everything else. Despite this, the shop still did a good job--my car drives noticeably smoother after this partially disappointing service. (I can only imagine how great it could have been if the full maintenance had been completed.) I've been loyal to Toyota for a long time in my homeCountry, but honestly, this first maintenance experience has completely ruined my US-Toyota impression. It added up to my very first experience with this same branch, where I waited months to receive the spare key included in my car purchase. No one contacted me for months, and when I finally reached out, the office said they had simply "forgotten" to cut it. read more

Sleazy sales tactics by the credit department, ended up with an extended warranty on my son's car that he didn't want. Don't let them talk you into initialing your way thru the sales contract on an iPad, ask for a printed contract and review the numbers! 60 days later we still haven't gotten the warranty amount credited back. they sold me a Tacoma for $24,000. I've had the car under a year and already need transmission. They didn't clean the rims when I first bought it to the first week. I had all the tires redone at a tire shop to clean off all the rust and stuff that they didn't clean up, they offered me no compensation no sort of refund no sort of help with either of these issues. They're quite rude about any of it and they wouldn't even adjust the price on the car. When I noticed the rust was trying to talk him down a few grand I do not recommend them . read more

Tire Warranty Fraud. To Ricky Owens, who refused to call Michelin Tires for me as instructed about the inspection to see about warranty coverage and proceeded to role you eyes, huff, argue with me, talk poorly about me within ear shot to the service manager when I asked to speak with the service manager, I hope you receive some training on customer service and warranty coverage process. To the Service Manager that told me "this wasn't worth your time or man power to sit on the phone" and said, "I wish there was something you could do", well, you could have done your job. To White River Toyota where I purchased my vehicle you have lost me as a customer and I will be writing the president about my experience. I went to another dealership immediately after and not only got coverage on my tires from the tire company after a whole 20 minute phone call from the Service Manager to Michelin, but they set me up with new tires. My sister was looking to replace her 2010 RAV4 and had done her research online. We found two used vehicles with the equipment and price that she wanted. This was a few days before Christmas, and we were not able to look at the vehicles till the day after Christmas. We offered to leave a deposit, but after many conversations, emails, text, voice mail's Etc, they assured us the vehicles had been there over 90 days and WOULD be there the day after Christmas. ( deposit not necessary ) We told them that we were coming from Southern New Hampshire, and we would be there first thing Saturday morning, the day after Christmas, shortly after they opened. We've confirmed our appointment by email to Josh Chandler Christmas Eve day. We got up early Saturday to be there at 9 a.m. only to find out that both vehicles have been sold. No phone call, no text, no email. They said they had one vehicle that match the description of the two vehicles that were sold, but the price was $3,000 more. This vehicle had more mileage, and more damage and had a new set of the cheapest tires I've ever seen. It looked well used for 30,000 miles. After complaining to the sales manager but wasting our time and 3 hours of driving, he said this was a learning experience for Josh and that they'd ever take deposits to hold anything. If this sounds like a familiar scam to you, it probably is. Advertise a lower price car to get the customer in , only tell them it's been sold, but you have another vehicle exactly like that for a lot more money. We wasted time and gas to see a car that probably didn't exist. I guess Josh Chandler is not the only one who had a learning experience that day. The service and repairs done here are great. I have had my vans and truck worked on here as soon as I bought them from this dealership. Their punch card for oil changes gave me a free oil change now and again. Making an appt is easy and the appts are done and on time. I like picking up a washed car. It was good to have all my service done at one place so they could keep up on what I needed. They also found things ahead that needed attention rather than waiting and letting it fail and fix it later. Anyone who has had break work done knows what I mean. You always want to get the pads checked before finding out you need a whole break job...nothing optional about getting the breaks done and replaced or turned...ya kinda need your breaks! I've watched this place grow over the years and add to the sales lot and put on the addition to service. This doesn't happen in this economy if you are not a stand up dealership offering good work and pleasant customer service. Everyone at the counter is always pleasant, professional and tells it to you straight. Many people take their cars and trucks to other places and think the dealerships are a rip off but I wouldn't take my Toyota any place else. I've been here 3 times for routine service and twice they botched the work. The first time they dangerously overinflated my spare tire. Fortunately I double-checked their work and noticed. More recently I went in for an oil change. I didn't notice anything was wrong until I got home and found the entire underside of my car covered in oil. I'm not sure what exactly they did but there was oil dripping out from the skid plates everywhere. A complete mess, such an unprofessional job for a routine oil change. If this dealership can't handle simple tasks like inflating tires and changing oil, how could they possibly provide good service for something more complicated? Also the service advisor lied to me about work required at my upcoming 30k service interval. Again luckily I double-checked and read the Toyota maintenance guide. Very dishonest dealership. I purchased a certified pre-owned from this dealership. The car is alright. They made me wait several hours until I was hungry and tired just to purchase the car for what should have been a simple sale. I didn't ask for anything extra and paid basically what the car was advertised for on their website. Then they had another high pressure salesman spend another hour working me over on the extended service and prepaid maintenance plans. It was the first time I bought a car from a dealership so I guess they saw me coming. I told him a few times I didn't want any of the plans. Each time he made up more lies about what the plans cover. He repeatedly told me the plans would cover collisions. That if I hit an animal on the highway all repairs would be included, headlights, body damage, etc. He even told me that if I totaled the car they'd tow it there and repair it with no extra charge. All covered under the service and maintenance plans. I ended up spending 3 grand for a 7 year extended service plan and prepaid maintenance plan. By the time I found out what the plans actually cover I could only get some small refund. On top of that the 7 years starts from when the car was purchased new by the previous owner (I was told it started from my purchase date). So I paid for plans that cover a car mostly before I even owned it. Plus the car already came with a warranty and 2 free oil changes (I was told it did not). So I basically paid 3 grand for 2 oil changes and a warranty for an extra year or so. These guys pretty much robbed me of 3 grand. Beware they will lie up and down to take your hard earned money from you. read more

Wish I could rate 0 stars; this place took gross advantage of me knowing that I am disabled. They intentionally sold me a car with a severely carbonated EGR valve and outright refused to service that issue when Toyota international suggests that service be done every 60,000 mi. (over 120,000) They also refused my payment once because they disagreed that I could pay through someone else and threatened to withhold my car. I wish this business would leave White River. Their prices are competitive and their customer service is exceptional. Recently I decided to upgrade to the latest year model Sienna. The sales experience was great too! I have been to White River Toyota a handful of times in the last couple of years, every time I go I think I shouldn't go back. Maybe if you have a brand new car or bought from them they are good for you. But if you have an older (but in good condition) car FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE. -They have the appearance of being modern and efficient, but it is always a gamble if you are going to get someone nice or rude. -They find hundreds of dollars of work that should be done right away, something different every time, it's an old car, not perfect, and if they had their way they would replace the whole thing piece by piece and then try and sell me a new car altogether. -This is the first place that I have heard of that won't cover tire rotations if you buy tires from them (not getting the rotated invalidates the warranty). -They are obnoxious and condescending with how pushy they are with recommended (and overpriced!) repairs. -Additionally, they damaged one of my tires when removing it, but are convinced it will be fine... Absolutely horrible service!!! I have had my car serviced there a few times and every time the service guys have been very cold. Today I went there because the low tire pressure came on. I went there so they can fill up my tires. They asked me if I had an appointment. I let them know that it was just to get air in my tires and to turn off the low tire pressure light. They guy told me, "we can do it but you will be waiting a very long time." I told them no thanks and they proceeded to take my car out. One of the other service folks said, "hey that tire looks very low." I turned around the see the guy shrug his shoulder and still take my car out. I didn't notice the almost flat tire. I ask the gentleman that took my car out, "you guys ciuldcou even put air in my tire." This gentleman was very nice and asked me to pull around to the side and he put air in my tire. I own a Toyota Prius and am VERY HAPPY with my car. But I will NEVER step foot in this place again and I suggest you not go there either. Update: Thanks for explaining the schedule process. I didn't know that's how it worked (sarcasm). That is the ONLY reason I am upset. This was an emergency and your service guy shrugged his shoulder when others told him my tire was almost flat. It was not until the car had been driven out that I saw the flat tire and said, "WOW, you guys couldn't even take the time to fill my tire?" Then and only then was when the gentleman filled my one tire (both front tires needed air). He said no one told him anything and that if he knew he would have filled it. Very bad service!!! Don't trust these people with your vehicle. They are sloppy, and you might pay the consequences! I used to really like White River Toyota. The experience of buying my truck there was actually pleasant, as were the first few service visits. Then I started finding that their service was sloppy. Antenna connector broke, and they didn't even attempt to diagnose it the first *two* times I went in ("Well, it picks up the local radio station fine!"). Asking them to diagnose the air conditioning one time yielded a "why do you need AC? This is Northern New England." The second time, they just ignored it. But it was the brake job that put me in the "never, ever again" category. I went in for a factory service advisory (body corrosion check), and figured while it was there I'd have them fix another issue that they had found during the previous visit (rear brake lines were corroding), and during that check, they found a stuck caliper. They called me twice to verify the repair (once to ask about repairing it, and a second time to verify since the parts were expensive). I picked up my vehicle, and everything was fine for about 8-9 days. Then, driving on the back roads, I saw an animal on the road in the distance, and when I started to brake, the brakes started to flutter, badly. As I started to brake harder, all of a sudden there was a loud "tink", like something metal falling, and the vehicle lurched severely to the right and I shot up onto the grass alongside the road. It was only the last second action of my stopping use of the main brake pedal and jamming my left foot down on the emergency brake that brought me to a stop. Getting down underneath the truck and looking at the front left caliper, I could see that the inner brake pad was severely out of position, and then upon closer inspection, noticed that both slide pins for the calipers were missing. Looking at the right side, I noticed that both slide pins were missing as well. Taking the vehicle back to White River Toyota, the first response of both the service advisor (Dan Rock) and the Service Manager (TJ Towne) was a complete dismissal of my claims (the quote in TJ's case was literally "I'm unable to believe what you are telling me.") After insisting on it, they put my vehicle up on the lift, and did confirm what I had already seen: all four slide pins were missing. The good news is that they replaced the slide pins. The bad news is that like their initial denail of the problem, TJ continued to insist that they didn't do a single thing wrong, and there wasn't even a need for White River Toyota to apologize for anything. They claim that the parts that they installed (which I found out after the fact were aftermarket and not OEM) must have been defective, and somehow in 10 days of driving all four slide pins not only had their retaining clips fail, but somehow all four of them managed to slide out without my noticing, even though doing this means that the pins had to contact the wheels. To use TJ's own quote, "I'm unable to believe what [they] are telling me". To me, the most charitable explanation to WRJ is that they used incredibly shoddy aftermarket parts. Even with that, I think the failure of all four slide pins is questionable. More likely? I don't think those slide pins were ever there, and someone either botched an install, or botched the inspection of it. What really happened? We'll never know, especially since I'm not going back to them. Count them up, there were at least five issues hear: (a) not disclosing aftermarket part use, (b) charging what I believe an excessive amount for those parts (almost as much as the OEM parts!), (c) a botched install job that could have easily resulted in a major accident or injury, (d) dismissive treatment of a customer when I came back with problems on that shoddy repair work, and (e) complete denial of any responsibility. They've since offered me something: a $25 gas card. Yeah, thanks. Not. read more

Perhaps I hit them on a bad day, or maybe it's because I'm a flatlander from Massachusetts now, but I didn't feel I got great service here. My Prius totally died on the way to Vermont (scary!), and I got it towed to the closest dealership--here. It was the weekend so I knew I wouldn't get service until Monday, but the service advisor was not helpful at all. I tried to tell him several times what had happened, and he didn't want to hear beyond "my car died." He literally cut me off in mid-sentence. My car had had a warning light on and had some problems recently, but he was not interested. Wouldn't this help them diagnose the problem? Anyway, they put in a new battery, which did make the car run again, but 15 minutes into my return trip home the warning light came on again. Fortunately I made it home okay, but it wasn't a relaxing trip. The other thing I think they could have handled better was telling me how long I'd have to wait. They told me they'd have to work on their regular customers first, which is fine if not what I wanted to hear, but couldn't they give me a better indication than that? I ended up calling back multiple times just to get an update. I do appreciate that they were able to handle it that day; I got out right around 5. Final beef: when I took my car into my regular dealership for service, they told me I needed a new battery. What?!? I had them go back and check. Turns out the White River location had not updated the computer, so the car still thought it had an old battery. Oh well. The waiting area was clean and relatively pleasant, and I'm glad to see that some people have had great experiences--maybe just not visitors. read more

Started out as an average to good experience with purchasing a certified pre-owned vehicle from White River Toyota. Nothing to write home about, but the staff was friendly, not overly pushy, and ultimately came to terms that both of us were happy with. After spending several hours going through the buying process - financing, signing the contract, etc. - was finally ready to take the car home. As we go outside to get the car were handed a single key and noticed the car had no floor mats. Who thinks to ask, "Will the car come with two keys?", that just seems standard for buying a car from the dealer. And sure, I guess it didn't have floor mats in place when test driven, but just thought that with the paper mats in place and wanting to keep things in good shape, they had been taken out of the car while it was on the lot for test drives. Anyways, the salesman told us that this was just the way the car came to them but White River Toyota was happy to point out that I could buy genuine Toyota floor mats for 10% off retail from the dealership! Was too tired at that point to make a big deal out of it and just figured I could get a key made at the hardware store for ~$10 so went home with a plan to do that. Turns out that the keys have a chip in them and copies can only be made by Toyota. I called to find out the price on this and was quoted around $100 to get a single key copied!!! Anyways, I let them know that it didn't sit quite right that a car bought new from this dealership and which received all of it's regularly scheduled maintenance at the dealership for 5 years was then turned in by the original owners missing all of the floor mats and with only a single key. To the dealership and the salesman's credit they offered to make a second copy of the key and not charge me for it - great! Problem mostly solved. The issue though was that I had also emailed corporate Toyota asking about what is included in the 160-point inspection for pre-owned certified is 2 copies of all keys - so I should not have had to deal with this in the first place. To follow this up, when I did go by the dealership to get a second copy of the key made, it took them 2 hours!!!! They took my car back to program the key and then someone in service just forgot that they were working on it - this even though I asked for an update after around 45 minutes. So to sum up. Generally good to average used car buying experience muddied by the fact that my new-used car did not come with an important accessory (key) that it was supposed to come with under the pre-owned certified program, although it was conveniently available for purchase at more than $100. So then when I had to come back in to fix this problem (a visit to the service station that I should have avoided) it ended up taking more than 2 hours out of my day because of a mix-up in the service department. Overall not the worst horror story from a used car buying experience but not the smoothest either. read more

We have been buying our vehicles from White River Toyota for eleven years. Even after we moved to Connecticut, we still drive up here for sales and service, when we can do so. This last visit, their service line was literally out the door for the day. They are that good.
