I'm torn because I've had several piercings here that I absolutely love, but my experience with the owner as a tattoo artist has been a nightmare. Patrick did a piece for me that had several mistakes. When I pointed them out, he laughed and rushed me to the register. He later admitted to the errors via email and offered a fix, but after I went in to discuss it, he completely ghosted me. I have called and emailed for months with no response. It's a shame because the piercers are great, but I cannot recommend a shop where the owner refuses to stand behind his work and ignores a client for months after making a mistake on their body. I stopped by to get my flat back stud earring pieces sized down. I had gotten them pierced at another shop and wanted to get them flush to my ear since they had healed. I went in last week to get a vertical labret and the artist Jaime was very knowledgeable and sweet and made me feel very comfortable there. 3 to 4 days after I got my piercing done one of the beads for the jewelry came out after my toddler head butted me. At first I was very frustrated because I had never had fresh jewelry come apart on me before, but I went down to the store and explained my situation and they fixed it free of charge. I originally set up an appointment with Patrick for a consultation on a tattoo. I showed him what I was wanting and where I would like it. I had an old tattoo that I got many years ago and it was faded and he told me that he could cover it up and that was a good thing. The day of the tattoo.....I had an appointment at 1:00 pm and he was ready to go at that time. He originally quoted it would probably be about 3-4 hours for him to finish so that is what I was expecting. He drew up the tattoo himself and it looked great. I was completely happy with his drawing. During the tattoo he was precise with his work. He would check and recheck his work. The tattoo came out great. It's full of color and lines are clean. It ended up taking two hours for the tattoo instead of the 3-4 hours. I'm trying to come up with the next piece I want and payback visit back to Patrick. He does outstanding work. read more

I got my second holes done forever ago here and had tons of problems with infections and like a weird black things etc and they are also so close to my first holes that there are very few earrings I can wear Edit: I don't think that my first review was fair, infections can happen no matter what and I have no reason to believe it was caused by unsterile tools. I wanted to get my third holes done so I could wear earrings in my first and third because they are quite close together. I originally wanted to go to woody's as it is the most highly rated now but their piercer is actually in the hospital. I then looked at going to sacred ground but found there were no covid precautions being taken ( I left an extensive review there.) Now to Burly Fish's covid precautions: no one is allowed to go inside with you and all customers wear masks, my piercer Kelli was wearing a mask and a face shield. The only customer who was in at the same time as I was didn't have her mask over her nose at one point and staff politely and promptly asked her to fix it. They are pumping air or have fans in each room for increased ventilation. I can't count the number of times Kelli sanitized my ears and changed gloves and at the beginning she scrubbed her hands for what must've been a minute. She measured multiple times and put my earrings in so we could look at spacing. All around couldn't be happier read more

The staff are nice but it irks me that they DO NOT answer the phone! I called over 12 times when they were OPEN and no one answered. When I went in for my appointment, three people were standing behind the desk and each time the phone rang NOT ONE answered. This is my favorite shop in town. I've gotten multiple piercings and tattoos here. The staff are all awesome and incredibly talented. Robyn does a great job with piercings, I've went in with ideas and she totally worked with me to get unique piercings. I've gotten a few tattoos from Darren and I've gotten so many compliments on the work he did. Compared to other places in town, in my opinion Burly Fish has higher quality and is cleanlier. I've gotten more piercings than I can count at Burly Fish, and one fairly large tattoo. Jill and Christopher, who pierce, are excellent and explain the process thoroughly. They made me feel very much at ease. The labret piercing I had done at the shop is a little off centered, although it looked fine when I checked the initial ink mark they placed on my lip before piercing it, other than that, I've had no negative experiences (even that one is minor). They have a fabulous jewelry selection, and often have cool ideas for piercings that you could use customized jewelry in if you ask. I'm mostly happy with how my tattoo turned out, done by Patrick. I think it looks really good, and is an accurate representation of what I told Patrick I wanted. The end result is a tiny bit raised in some areas, and I'd like some parts of the coloring to be a little less flat (easily fixable), but otherwise I was very impressed with Patrick's work. This tattoo was my first large piece, and my initial consultation with Patrick was very useful, he pointed out what was going to work with the tattoo idea I initially had, and what wasn't going to work. He was very concerned his work looking good for a lifetime, and was very upfront about what was likely to not work out. Very useful. read more

Made an appointment to purchase jewelry and staff were courteous but seemed super impatient with my questions-- overall sort of snobby and talked about how everyone else's jewelry is cheap and theirs is the only place that sells good jewelry. They said to call if I had a problem with my jewelry, which I did, and when I called the response was, again, impatient and dismissive that I was having problems and that they couldn't help me. The girl said "Um, well, the jewelry is just, like that, so." No I'm sorry, no questions or wanting to work with me. She was told she could not purchase jewelry that cost upwards of $50 plus tax because she had no jewelry in at the time and assumed she would go home and pierce it herself. This place was great for when I got my belly button piercing. The atmosphere is great here for getting piercings and tattoos, and the place is very well kept and extremely clean. They follow all proper safety and cleaning procedures for when they are doing a piercing and when they are doing tattoos. It might be a little higher priced than some shops in Flagstaff, but it is definitely worth it. read more

Unprofessional. Not only is it hard to schedule a 15 minute piercing, but my friend and I's appointment was cancelled because my piercer didn't feel good. She asked if we wanted to reschedule and we said yes, but it would have to been soon and she said the only availability is a week out? It was impossible for it to be done sooner and no other piercer could do it. If the business is screwing up and cancelling appointments, it shouldn't cause the customer to be penalized. Poor customer service. I'd go somewhere else. read more
