What a great spin studio. The owner and the staff are welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. I did my first class today and the owner. Rose was very welcoming and made me feel right at home. They've got a good set up and the bikes seemed in good shape to me. It was definitely a challenging workout and although it was my first class I was very comfortable and made to feel welcome. BurnCycle has turned me into a girl obsessed with spinning. I love the studio vibes, the fact that the classes are 45 minutes, the upbeat music and the friendly/welcoming staff. I've been to a number of spin studios and BC is absolutely my favorite. There is just something different about the energy and atmosphere. I always get a great workout and feel those endorphins throughout the day. Only con is that the studio can be crammed between classes, so there isn't a ton of space to change into cycling shoes - luckily everyone who rides there has friendly! read more

Made my trip! I was visiting Portland from Los Angeles and found this gem! I walked a mile each way to get to this studio and it was so worth it. I dropped in on Friday and loved it so much I signed up for Saturday morning too. The community is amazing. I can't get over how helpful the GM and staff was the entire time. You know a place is fabulous when the staff is genuinely happy. Kelly, our instructor, was on fire. Fridays theme ride was Katy Perry and Saturday was Latin. She greeted newbies at the beginning and even welcomed me back by name on Saturday!! She sets you up and helped with a quick review of hand positioning. I especially appreciated the level of encouragement and she stressed how well each one was pushing at their own level. I recommend any level of rider to try Kelly's class! The studio provides (no extra fee) towels, shoes, combo lockers, refillable water fountain, weights, showers, blow dryers, some essentials like soap and lotion. I was soaked after my ride and used a blow dryer and dry shampoo. This cycle studio was my happy place Friday and Saturday! I had a moderately good experience at Burn Cycle while I was in Portland for business. Pros + Reasonably priced for a good cycling class (it's like WAY more money for this style of class in the area I am from) + Shoes available, no extra charge! + Locker options for your stuff + Clean space + The second instructor was FIRE! Cons - The bikes are SO close together that I couldn't complete the motions without smacking the other riders accidentally during my first ride (and I definitely got bumped a few times). - Not super friendly staff. As a new person, I had literally no idea what was happening, where anything was, and there wasn't really anybody able to assist. - No notification that you were off the wait list. I had to check the website a few times just to figure out if I got into my second class. The first class I took was okay, however I had trouble hearing the instructor. I definitely still got a great workout, but actually considered not attending the second class. I also felt like the dancing portion didn't take into consideration that we were like right on top of each other and my neighbors and I couldn't do the full range of motion that she was suggesting. The second class was SIGNIFICANTLY better and I was glad I didn't skip. There was a lot more enthusiasm and I had a much better ability to hear the instructor. I felt like the ride itself was choreographed significantly better, the music was curated a bit more, etc. When I am back for another work trip, I would consider coming back for the second instructor but might try another studio first. read more

I took my first spin class here and loved it! It's loud, chaotic, and you're a sweaty mess when you're done - but it's AWESOME! The music is killer and you feel like you're at a dance party on a bike. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first came in as they recommend ear plugs, but it was a blast to spin it all out! My only complaint is that I wished there was a little more time between the classes to get my bike set up as I felt really rushed the first time. I've been going to BurnCycle for a little over 3 years and continue to love it. I can't say enough good things about BurnCycle. There's a part of me that goes because it's an incredibly hard, fun, and rewarding workout, and there's the other part of me that goes for the strong sense of community. The team finds ways to reinvent the studio in ways that always breathes new energy and keeps it fresh. The instructors here are amazing and genuinely care about every person in the room - they also bring the best out of you. Highly recommend this studio. If it's your first class, definitely give yourself a few extra minutes to size up your shoes and get your bike fitted. It can be a bit crazy in-between classes! read more

My experience was that reserving a spot, paying for it, getting there early and checking in didn't actually mean getting into the class. Earlier this week I reserved a spot and paid for it. Today I got to the class early. I filled out the legal form and got shoes. I waited for them to take me to a bike. But the bike was taken. Apparently someone had grabbed it or they had given it away. They hunted for more spots. A few more people walked in and got bikes. By the time they got to me, there were no more spots, I didn't get in, and my time and money are now being squandered. They gave me some free classes and the women working at the desk were apologetic and friendly. They said this has never happened before. They suspect someone sneaked in without paying. Maybe so, but this isn't what I wanted at all. It bums me out because I was meeting up with a friend and looking forward to it, had rearranged my day to be at the class, drove a ways to get here, hunted around for parking, paid for parking, and going to the class meant I had to leave an event early with my nieces and find someone to watch them for me. As a busy person, it really frustrates me when my time and money get wasted like this. It's possible I'll try going back and I may also ask for a refund. Will update this review if that happens, and the lesson I learned is this is a place where you might have to be pushy to get what you paid for. That said, the place was popular and it seemed like people were enjoying the class. But this was definitely a terrible way to be introduced to Burn Cycle. read more

You know you've done a good workout when you cannot walk up AND down the stairs, squat to sit down and you have thigh cramping at night while laying in bed. Yeah, that's been me the last two days. HA! I went to my first spin class over the weekend and even though I'm in pain right now, I'm hooked! Shelby lead the Saturday morning class I attended and she did not let me down! She kicked our asses and kept us all on our toes. Literally. Note: This is a FULL BODY WORKOUT, not an easy spin class like you're probably used to. You will leave here soaked in sweat and feeling great. In that good, "I just worked my ass off", sort of way. The 45 minutes fly by. The music was pumpin' and everyone was friendly and helpful, (being a newb and all). The prices are reasonable and definitely worth it in my book. Caveat: This STYLE of class just isn't for me. Also, I've never been to a Soul Cycle class. The front desk staff is lovely and super helpful. The instructors were very nice people, and helped as well when my bike was stuck or giving me issues adjusting it. The facility itself is nice, has a great filtered water bottle filling station, nice bathroom, lockers, etc. But if you're at all like me, this style of class may not be for you. I have taken spin classes for years, but typically from instructors who use a more "road cycling indoors" style. Fewer weird, hypey noises, certainly never using the word "bounce" unless telling you how to avoid it, and for sure not using the bicycle as a piece of equipment to be moved on in a way other than cycling mostly in the saddle with some breaks or climbing out of it. So, the fact that I didn't care for this class style truly isn't on this place or the instructors. I did happen to attend a class with the owner/creator (which I didn't know until after the fact) and she happened to be my favorite of the 3 instructors whose classes I attended. The bikes were also pretty sticky all around and not smooth to adjust, and there is zero personal feedback or data accountability besides feel. I'm fine to push myself as I need to, but I also can't entirely tell my cadence all the time. And these folks seem to only ever want to spin SUPER fast. I'm not into it personally. Why attend 3x if it wasn't my jam? I was visiting from out of town and staying SUPER close, so it was very convenient. Truth be told, I may go back if I stay there again since it's simply so easy. But, I would continue to ride as I please without moving around spastically or being out of the saddle 80% of the time. That isn't for me. The part where you use arm weights is whatever. It's trying to do something different which I appreciate but it basically just interrupts the spinning quite abruptly and the entire class doesn't really include a warm up or cool down. Oh, the last thing about this place that's pretty annoying is that they open up a week of classes on the weekend that then are super full immediately. So, trying it out or getting into a morning class is HARD. This means they either need a few more morning class times or more space. To shut out people ready to attend is rough :-/ but it's nice to see a small business with that type of "problem." So, take my review as you like. This place may be exactly what you want and love. I've been to two classes and I really enjoy this studio. I can't say I know at all what the hell I'm doing on that bike, but I'm having fun and getting my burn on, so it works for me. Fortunately someone warned me prior to my first class: the music is insanely loud, but there are plentiful ear plugs at the front desk. And gum. Be good to your neighbors and chew some, because you will be breathing heavily in a dark, sweaty room for the next 45 minutes. The instructors are the jewel in the crown. They are hilarious and inspiring, if not exactly catering to the newbies like me. I have no idea how to adjust my bike on my own, but the front office staff are nice about setting it up for me. I also don't know what "adjust the tension a quarter turn" means, but nonetheless I seem to be sweating and getting a fun workout accomplished. And, all the while seated on what other reviews call the "bad bikes"! LOL. I'm totally fine hiding on those, dear. My only studio-based disappointment is how tiny the locker room is, which makes it hard to change, let alone take a shower. read more

So here is the thing about a good spin class... it's like going to a club, dancing all night... and actually burning instead of drinking the calories. Burncycle is Portland Oregon's answer to Soul Cycle. Except I would say Burn Cycle, like Portland, Oregon does their own thing and it's super rad. The bikes are awesome, the instructors are amazing, and while it might seem intimidating at first because the clientele is in general mega fit, you get over that fast and realize that all are welcome. I try to go to Burn Cycle at least once each time I'm in Portland Oregon because each class is a really special experience. It's more then a workout, you will feel revitalized as cheesy as that may sound, and probably will get addicted if you live nearby. At the very least even if you decide the workout isn't for you, they have lots of cute clothes and are in a great part of the city. read more

*** After posting my original post, the manager contacted me and offered me a complimentary class. This go-around, the instructor was much better and more uplifting. Happy I gave it another shot. I just left a class with Kira. The workout was fine, but I was left so uncomfortable by her comments. I wear an Apple Watch to track my calories and heart rate. When your wrist is flat, the watch lights up. During class this happened and she started her comments with "I don't mean to be rude..." then went on a lecture about how ppl need to be present. So awkward for me, a paying customer. I spin a lot. I've never been to a place where the instructors try to make their riders feel uncomfortable. It's always so uplifting at other locations. Really made me miss the Soul Cycles, Fly Wheels and Cycle Houses that are in LA. Looking forward to them making their way north. read more

You'll be dripping with sweat when you're done with your workout! Pros: 1) Amazing music 2) Cool lighting effects during class. It's a bit like a club (in a good way). It won't feel like you're riding a stationary bike to nowhere! It feels like the best dance club in town. 3) Good instructors that work really hard to make sure you get a great workout (there are only 1 or 2 that I didn't like) 4) The staff is nice too. Most of them. Some of the front desk staff seem to have attitudes but it's only one or two. The rest are friendly and helpful. Cons: 1) The studio is small. People are always running into each other. There are only two showers so if you want to shower after class you better skip stretching AND sprint to the locker room. 2) You have to fight to get a first-row bike. The class calendar goes live at 5pm every Sunday and by 5:01pm the best classes are full. So if you're doing something at 5pm and don't have good cell service wherever you are then you'll have a bad bike the whole week. It will affect your workout. 3) You have to pay for bike shoes (can't use regular ones). If you want to cycle often it's recommended to buy your own pair. Shoes range from $75-$200). I paid $150 for mine because the more popular brand didn't fit well. I think I was between sizes and they didn't carry half sizes. 4) Classes are pricey by Portland standards. If you compare boutique gyms around town BurnCycle is in the most expensive 10%. I had an unlimited package for 4 months and ultimately I didn't want to be stressed out while trying to workout. I bought a pack and now I go once a month with a friend. That's worked out a lot better. I attend StudioX for my regular workouts. read more

I would like to say BC is just like Soul Cycle but it's not. It's better. I've done tons of classes at both studios (and other similar places) and Burn is the best. If you want some emotional inspiration book a class with Jesse, Steph or Wil. The other instructors are great too (maybe easier), but the formentioned three are amazeballs. If they started a cult, I would join. They make me feel like I can do almost anything by the time I leave their class. I love this place. From many basketball injuries I have arthritis, and spinning really loosens the knees up. I love the powerful and loving energy in the room and I think this will be my cross training for years to come. I have one request though -- if there's a way to get some bikes that accommodate to talk people better. I'm 6' 1" and have to adjust the settings on the bike to the near max, and it makes the handlebars come loose, and the bike becomes a little top heavy. Her Wednesday evening classes have become a kind of body and soul church for my partner and I over the past several years. And the music! If I could have her DJ my life, I would. Don't think for one second that a cycle class means you sit your pretty derriere down in a bike seat and pedal leisurely for 45-50 minutes. Your fitness goals will be achieved at a snail's pace if that's your idea of a workout, and if it is, then so be it, but BurnCycle will throw you for a serious loop. You move up and down on that saddle like your life depended on it and pedal as fast or as hard as you can. Strike that. Not as hard as you think you can, but as hard as you're able, which is always a wee bit faster or with a wee bit more resistance than you think your body is capable of. The beat of the music is what drives you and the two classes I did take, the music was definitely on point. I love the price of BurnCycle (when compared to its sister from another mister, Soul) and I also love how the bikes are spaced out enough to where you can really work the core moves with your elbows fully horizontal without having to sacrifice form for limited real estate between riders. I also really loved the energy of the room. I usually sit in front, but was only able to grab middle seats at the classes I took while in town, and I'm not sure if it was the positioning or the actual group of riders/instructors, but I really did thrive off of the room's rock and roll, take no prisoners vibe. If you do opt to use their shower facilities, they are a bit cramped, especially if one class is finishing at the same time as another is about to begin, but they do have towels, toiletries, and hair dryers if you do choose to rinse off after. read more

My boss tried to kill me. Both of us are trying to get into better shape, so as a team-building experience he suggests I join him for a class at BurnCycle, a group fitness class he does three times a week. I think to myself "I'm in pretty good shape, and I've done spin classes before. What's the worst that could happen?" The answer to that question: Attempted murder. It wasn't a solo operation. He recruited the efforts of Josh, the Thursday 5:30 instructor. He's fit, friendly, energetic and motivating. The perfect cover for his plan to make my heart explode. They assign me the bike immediately in front of Josh, all the better to monitor his efforts. "HOW YOU DOIN' THURSDAY?!?!?!?" he periodically calls out to the class. Most people just let out a WOOT, but my internal responses went more like this: 1) Nervous but enthusiastic, Josh! Thanks for asking! I've never used the shoes with the clips before, and your terminology for hand placement and movements is hard to keep up with, so I'm kind of confused. But I'm confident that together you and I can make this happen! 2) Wow Josh, I'm surprised! This is really challenging! How am I supposed to do pushups on the bike while peddling at a different speed? But if all these other people the class can do it, surely I can too... 3) Well Josh, truth is I'm concerned! You keep suggesting we turn the nob to right, and there really aren't that many breaks in your program! I've sweated through both my shirt and a towel, and I'm completely flustered by all the movements! I didn't come to a cycle class to be reminded of how terrible a dancer I am! This has to be almost over, right? Oh, we're only 20 minutes in? Efff..... 4) JOSH! How can you ask me that? You see me floundering, don't you? I'm Right in front of you! Please, please slow down. Wait, why are you making me pick up weights??? 5) I hate you Josh. I know what you guys tried to do, and you failed! I will find you when this is over and pay you back for what you have done to me. Watch your back, pal. And then it was over! Truth be told, while I DID find the class ridiculously intense, the time went by quickly and it never crossed over into something that I honestly couldn't do. Definition of intense (adj) in·tense[ in ténss ] 1. extreme: great, strong, or extreme in a way that can be felt 2. effortful or active: involving great effort or much activity 3. concentrated: narrowly focused or concentrated Yup. That's the word. Intense. Let me walk you through it. First you sign up for a class. This can be the most difficult part of the experience, as often the classes are full, and to get on a waitlist, you have to have some sort of series of classes paid for (up to and including a new class special price). However I'm told (and it happened to me) that most often you'll get in off the waitlist. So go ahead and sign up. You can buy your class in advance online and it is good for a while. Then you show up and are greeted by a friendly, chipper, and enthusiastic group of folks, ready to get you set up and adjusted on your spin bike. If you're smart, you brought your own clip shoes (or the $2 to rent them - they have quality options and many folks rent) and a shitload of water. They do have water on site if you didn't bring your own... just bring a bottle. Thusly begins 45 minutes of sheer, intense, sweaty, loud, riding insanity. This is not your standard spin class. First off, it takes place in the dark, so you don't have to worry about the fact that you look like someone in a torture chamber while you're sweating and riding, and you can go to your own pace if you can't keep up without fear of looking like a loser. The class is a mix of runs, hills, sprints, and lots of core/upper body work. Yup. Pushups, obliques, arms, shoulders (with two-pound weights) all while riding, riding, riding. The whole time the instructor is barking a mix of instructions, encouragements and battle rally cries over his/her headset mic to the tune of blasting high-energy music. At some point during this experience you may feel like you're going to puke, die, or simply fall over in an agonizing, sweaty pile. Good thing you're clipped in. And good thing the music is so loud and the encouragement ever-present, enough to drown out any of the devil-on-your-shoulder mental dissent to this obviously needed exertion. After the 45 minutes of riding, comes some quick stretching, and a deserved pat on your sweaty back. Did I mention sweat? If, like me, you sweat while playing video games, you'll lose a lot of water during this workout. Even if you don't normally perspire (you precious rose, you), trust me... you'll sweat. Drink water and be glad for all those calories you just burned. Enjoy the fact that this is a low-impact workout that didn't stress your joints or jar your spine. It's sheer cardio with core work, and you'll feel awesome... once you rehydrate and change out of your sweaty gear. I found this studio during Yelp Kicks Butt month, and I'm glad I did. It's worth my drive from Montavilla to the Pearl, and I've already been back for another workout. BOOM! read more

What I did enjoy about Burn over the others was a lack of that spiritual, think-about-your-life-as-I-symbolically-blow-out-these-candles crap. I don't need that. Know what else I don't need? Crazies in the front row that are worshipped by the instructor with that passive aggressive "oh, great job front row" praise. Yeah, we're still back here, one row behind you, literally working our asses off too. And yes, we see you. Skip all that and come to BurnCycle. I'm obsessed with burn cycle, if I could afford it, I'd start and end every day in that room. I recently signed up for their 3 for $40 (first time discount) and have been going bi-weekly -- my coworker isn't always ready to get her booty kicked or else we'd be there weekly! For starters, while it may not seem like a body friendly environment (everyone is around mid 20's and tops like 130) they totally are. I'm overweight by about 80+ pounds and I know this. I haven't ever really found anything that makes me feel good and accepted, but burn cycle does it. It's dark for the majority of the ride, and everybody is focused on themselves. In fact, most of the leaders point you towards inner reflection, so who gives a crap what anyone else thinks! The crew here is so good! I'll maybe one day get how the whole bike adjusting thing works, but until then they're more than happy to help and make sure I'm happy pre ride. If you're on the bigger side and are intimated by a class like this, please don't be! Take a friend and kill it. I'm beginning to think one of my goals isn't just to get fit--but to lead a class one day.. read more

It's taken me a while to write a review about Burncycle, because honestly there's nothing I can say that will properly convey how much I appreciate this place. I will still give it a try though. I tried a class for the first time about 6 months ago, as an acquaintance is an instructor there. I'm not going to lie, I was very out of shape at this point in my life, and frankly super unhappy. The class was extremely difficult for me. I felt embarrassed and intimidated by "The Pack" of toned and athletic humans that surrounded me, especially being a shy and socially awkward person. But thanks to Kira's kind words and encouragement, I left the class with a new found sense of pride. I had done the damn thing and was determined to do it again and do it better. 6 months later, I'm proud to say I've gone fairly consistently and am better shape than I was in college. I look forward to working out and have even convinced many friends and coworkers to join me. It is on the pricey-side, but I have never once regretted attending a class. I have regretted NOT going though. This is the first gym I've joined that I can confidently say is worth the price. Aside from the classes and brilliant instructors, it is a beautiful and clean space to work out in. After trying several instructors, I have to say my two favorites are Michelle and Ashley. They both pick great playlists for their classes and are extremely motivating and uplifting without getting too spiritual or sounding like a self-help book--I know that works for some people, just not me. If you are trying to decide whether or not to try Burncycle, I encourage you to just go for it. The hardest part is getting through the doors. You will be intimidated. You will sweat a lot. But you will get the hang of it. And to steal their lingo, the first time you really feel like you've "crushed your ride" you'll leave feeling like the badass you are and you'll be hooked. read more

I've been going to BurnCycle for just over a year now, and I am so grateful for having found a fitness regimen that works with my schedule. The class times are perfect and I can usually fit in at least two classes a week, outside of working full time and having a family. The instructors are all so positive and incredibly motivating. The location, facility and staff are top notch, but I must say I didn't care for the ridiculously loud music. If you want to preserve your hearing, wear earplugs. I wish I had known they were available at the front desk. I had a really hard time hearing the instructor over the music, but the routine is relatively basic, so you really don't need to understand every word. Just follow along visually. The workout was okay, but a lot of the upper body and core work seemed quite contrived. Also, the room was so hot and humid that I felt like much of my sweat was "artificially induced." Yes, I worked hard, but not as hard as my drenched shirt would lead me to believe. I call this the "Bikram" effect -- where the room conditions deceive you into thinking you got more out of a workout than you did. I can appreciate what they are doing here, and it seems like a lot of people like it, but it's definitely not for me. read more

I've been looking for a spinning workout like this one for YEARS. They really get it - all of their workouts simply rely on the beat of the music. Pedaling to the beat of the music is SO fun and makes the 45 minutes fly by. Plus, the music is awesome! Really intense beats, remixes, and they have awesome themed rides (90s music, hip-hop, hot mess ride, yay!). I do not believe the atmosphere in the place snooty or "too good for you" as one reviewer commented - I am by no means a pro, and I still am able to feel comfortable and welcome in the space they have created for everyone. Always greeted with a smile and high fives, and I always feel encouraged to be who I am and challenged to push my limits - it's really awesome :) The rides never get boring, as the music and choreography changes all the time. I've been going 3-4 times per week now for about two months, and they still kick my butt. I love it! The facilities are cool. The place is small so as not be overwhelming or cavernous; they've really succeeded in creating an intimate atmosphere. The instructors (I've taken classes from Will, Steph, and Angy) are phenomenal. Will has that special something (maybe it's his awesome dance moves) that really makes you push harder, Steph is ALWAYS inspiring and totally rad, and Angy (maybe it's her yoga background) is encouraging and peaceful. The owner of the place is warm and enthusiastic, always brings great energy and is so accommodating to her clients - you can tell she (and everyone who works there) is incredibly passionate about what they are creating. Excited to see what is in store for their future! I heard they're soon adding new bikes and class times, since the studio has really taken off and class attendance is consistently high (from what I can tell). The basics of BurnCycle: Riding a stationary bike in the dark, dance music blasting, and doing "choreographed" moves on the bike, with the instructor yelling inspirational things to you, pushing you to turn up the tension and sweat even harder. It's like SoulCycle in LA. But better. You spend a good amount of time out of the saddle (which I prefer), also doing different upper body movements intended to work the core, and there's a separate arms section with free weights towards the end of the class. I've been to the classes of most of the instructors at Burn (including Will's whose classes are always waitlisted), and IMO, the best instructor is Michelle. Hands-down. Here's why: - AWESOME playlists - she plays stuff like Beyonce, Steve Aoki, EDM (I've added to my music collection based on the music she's played in class) - She does TONS of core work (pulses and tap backs on the bike that work both upper and lower abs, as well as oblique work) - Inspirational - she brings mindfulness in the mix, constantly reminding riders to focus on the present moment, to ride for yourself. It's basically therapy with a side of cardio. - She's a pro - I can't tell you how many instructors don't time the sequence of bike moves to the music. She's got it under control perfectly, also makes sure to balance both the L and R leading foot so you don't overdo it on one side. I like her classes so much that it's one of the things I'll lament if I have to move out of Portland. The place has some first-time rider promos/discounts that make it worth trying out if you've never been before. My only complaint with this particular studio is the one-person men's bathroom. Granted, the clientele is mostly female, but there are usually a handful of guys at each class and waiting in line just to pee before class is annoying. read more

So, I didn't partake in the full experience, but I got 40 minutes of straight pedaling my ass off matching the beat. I'm certain that it would have made more sense if I actually showed up on time. They were doing all of these movements and gyrations and I was just a tad taken back by that, plus I wasn't comfortable standing on a bike that I couldn't freewheel on...which caught me by surprise by the way. Either way, I rode so long and hard that my 'Vice President' went numb. I had to stop pedaling, stand up on the bike and do the stanky leg dance for a few seconds to bring him back! 5 Stars. This place gives me life. Their classes are extremely fun/addicting. The music is the best I've ever experienced in a workout class. This class is not for the weak of heart, but that's a good thing. Every class I've taken is a roller coaster ride. Shout out to Steph, she is AMAZING at keeping the class reaching. I am thrilled about this new spin/studio cycling venue! I have been an avid spinner on and off for twenty years. I fell in love with Spinning in 1993 at CRUNCH in NYC (The old Johnny G classes). In 1999, I moved to Portland and for years loved spinning with Andre at the RAC (Do any of you know/remember Andre? He was awesome!). Since my son was born in 2004, I have not been able to find a class I love... That is until this week when I found BurnCycle! In my opinion there are two types of classes... 1. a serious, endurance cycling (for those training for elite cycling events) 2. a fast-paced, high energy, and fun aerobic cycling class (for those who want to burn a ton of calories, sweat like crazy and listen to great music) I'm happy to report that BurnCycle offers the latter of the two. The facility is brand new and very nice. The bikes are simple and straight forward. The sound system is clear Towels are provided Nice bathroom and shower facilities (toiletries are even available) My only complaint is that the schedule is very limited at the moment. I am hopeful that they will expand the schedule and add more morning classes. Personally I would love to see more 9 am classes during the week and an 8:30 am class on weekends (allowing for a quick work-out with eating up your entire day). read more

I love BurnCycle! I've only taken Will's classes and they're worth every penny. His classes always fill up so fast so make sure to sign up right at 5pm on Sundays via the app for the following week's schedule. I've taken spin classes at countless studios and have found Will's classes to be unmatched. Even harder than a Soulcycle class, Will really pushes you to give it your all. After all, each class is only 45 minutes and you use light weights towards the end as well. FYI- music is pretty loud but they have a jar of ear plugs if it's too much. They also provide towels for free which are on your bike already when you walk into the dark room. Spin shoe rentals are $2 and they're required. They're fairly inexpensive if you buy them at bike stores so it's worth it if you take a lot of classes. Lockers with key pads are available for use if you need. Parking is pretty easy to find since it's situated in a neighborhood (and dangerously close to cool moon too!). I'll definitely be adding BurnCycle to my wedding workout routine (which btw they offer discounts for bride-to-be's!). read more

I went to Burncycle on a friend's recommendation and I couldn't be happier that I did. I travel frequently for work, and often times hit up different cycle studios while out, but Burncycle has them beat. When I first arrived, I was greeted by the front desk girl, and the owner. Upon hearing it was my first class the owner began asking me a few questions to make sure I was prepared for the class ahead. She was super friendly and immediately made me feel excited and ready for the experience. Will was the instructor of the class and his style of teaching was super upbeat and encouraging. I really enjoyed the whole 45 minutes, and sweat my ass off. Which is exactly why I go to spin classes. The format was very similar to Soulcycle, with a whole body workout, using the resistance, cadence, and weights. I would recommend anyone head to Burncycle anytime they are in Portland. read more

LOVED ,LOVED, LOVED Burn cycle. I recently tried it for the first time this month and absolutely loved the workout. The staff was very friendly and the instructor Jesse was so fun. Burn Cycle is a phenomenal cycling studio and unrivaled by any others I've tried in the PNW. Imagine reminiscent to Soul Cycle, but replace the kitschy "soul" element with a hard core, athletic and inspiring workout. The instructors are all completely ripped and genuinely care about the students. Always open to before and after coaching and motivation. The online booking is very convenient and allows one to secure the bike positioning of their choice. The facility is beautiful. Very contemporary and sexy style. I heart BurnCycle as it is exactly the type of tortuous workout I was seeking. I want to be a hot sweaty mess at the end of 50 minutes, and with BurnCycle that goal is most certainly achieved. Not all classes are created equal as there are certainly some instructors that are better than others. Yep the music is super loud and terrible (ear plugs provided (thanks). Its also not cheap (add on $2 a pop for shoes if you don't have clip ons), and we're taking a pricey workout. For me it is well worth it. I'm not sore as noted after a Barre class or lifting weights at the gym, but it gives me a fantastic low impact workout, which gets my heart racing. I've also noted that my cardio fitness has vastly improved, which has translated to running farther and being able to hike uphill quickly without feeling like I'm going to pass out. I go roughly two days a week and love my BurnCycle workouts. Would highly recommend! btw- no childcare offered and you can rent super clean $2 clip ons at the front desk. Also metered parking is surprisingly easy in this area. read more
