I started taking my 11 and 7 year old to Rockstars of Tomorrow through our Charter School. They…read moreimmediately fell in love with music. My 11 year old started drums. My 7 year old tried both guitar and keyboard. It was so easy to sign up and pick an instrument. All of the instructors are wonderful with the kids and talented in their craft. My 11 year old stuck with drums and my 7 year old landed on keyboard (although I gave her the option to do both instruments). The flexibility is there for any child to walk in at any age to explore and learn music. The front desk is so helpful and willing to plug you in with instructors to really find the best fit. As a mom, I've watched the confidence of my kids blossom with each lesson. The positivity carries over and impacts other areas of study for their week. Something about a "cool" rockstar tutor delivering kindness through instruction is just magical for kids. The atmosphere is epic. You feel like you walked into a studio. The staff is friendly. Selfishly though, it's cool, dark, comfy- and no dishes to be done. Cool drinks in a vending machine and a nice couch for a mom to scroll on her phone (guilt free) because her kids are rocking out for 30 mins in soundproof rooms. Also, all rooms have windows and glass doors so no kids are ever in rooms where they can't be supervised! It's become our favorite part of the week. When summer came and school funds were done- we budgeted the rockstars of tomorrow in and kept going. We even drive all the way from Wrightwood and fight the Cajon traffic to go. My kids love it THAT much. Met the owners three times now. They're always there making sure everything is running smoothly. They are very hands and involved. Every time they were telling me about the next big thing happening. There's always camps happening and activities going on for the kids. There's an entire community you can be involved with. They have a full stage venue in the location with a full/light/ sound set up for the stage. They teach how to use that equipment as well. They make sure they have ways to get the kids together so they can plug them into bands together. They don't just teach lessons- they're actively connecting the kids and mentoring. I wish we lived closer because I'm getting FOMO just typing it lol. It can be JUST music lessons- but they really do mean it when they say "rockstars of tomorrow." Wow, well I'm not sure what Jerome was trying to achieve with his retort, which comes a full 2…read moreyears after my initial review. After thinking about what he wrote, he's quite right about a couple of things. Yes, not all of his students will be happy with the way he teaches. As mentioned, there were several times where he showed up to my lessons unprepared & where he used my instruction time as his own personal practice time. I don't imagine too many paying students would be happy with such an arrangement. So, yes, it was hard to see eye-to-eye when that became his approach to teaching. And, yes, our friendship & student/teacher relationship ended on a sour note as a result & because he also constantly tried to discourage me from taking on challenges to help me grow. I'm not sure what he expected when that became his teaching style. It's sad he chose to revisit this after 2 years. The last I heard from him was actually in the form of an apology about 1 1/2 years ago. At that time, he told me he had just been diagnosed with cancer & used that as his rationale for his attitude & behavior. He then said he'd reach back out in a few months, after his cancer treatment was over, in hopes we could patch things up. I gave him the time & space he asked for but he never reached out until a few days ago via his response here. Jerome claims to be Christian, so I suppose only he & his deity know, for sure, what his intent here is or if that cancer diagnosis was ever even real. Two years after he chose to end my lessons, after he got a bunch of his friends to write all those positive reviews for him here, after speaking ill of me to anyone who'd listen this all just comes across as sad & gives off needy ex vibes on his part. I wish the man peace & hope to finally put this issue to rest. Time to move on, Jerome. There's no reason or need to reach out or revisit things after all this time.

My daughter left Tammy's studio two years ago for a bigger pond. In large part due to Tammy's work with Abby and the professionalism Tammy brings to her work and expects from her students, Abby was accepted to study voice at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at Cal State Long Beach. BCCM is the 5th ranked conservatory in the United States and, just last weekend, won the 2016 Choir of the World competition at Llangollen Eisteddfod, Wales. I couldn't be more proud. The thing is that Tammy had two students audition for BCCM that year. Both were accepted. The year before that she had a student apply for a prestigious music program. She was accepted. The year after Abby she had two students apply with wonderful music programs. Both were accepted. It's impossible to miss the pattern here. Tammy's students excel, plain and simple. I've sat in on a few of Abby's sessions with Tammy over the years. There is no iron fist here. Tammy's tools are love and excellence. She truly loves what she does and she loves her students. They love her in return. As Abby moves into her junior year and contemplates grad school and the opera program I wonder where she'll wind up. One thing I do know - she owes Tammy a huge debt for helping her get there.
