Buying a new guitar can be daunting and intimidating, especially if you're looking to branch out into something new and aren't really sure what you're looking for. After spending a few awkward hours playing poorly maintained & out-of-tune Fenders & Gibsons at the bigger stores (GC & SA), I finally stopped into Styles music. The selection is smaller, but actually way more varied (who needs try 30 Squires when they all feel the same anyway). Also all the nice stuff isn't hung up 15 feet on a wall, so I got to play way nicer stuff than I did elsewhere. On top of that, Greg & Lou are not only super knowledgeable, but super helpful as well. Greg put a few guitars in my hand I wouldn't have considered, and I ended up loving them! They were also super patient; I made three separate trips to confirm the guitar I wanted, and they even let me bring my rig in during my last visit to make sure the guitar sounded great with the rest of my set. I'm loving my new PRS, and they even gave me a good deal to trade in some of my old gear as well. I can honestly say I have zero buyer's remorse, which is not common for me. I always aim to support local music shops. As a professional musician, you want to be able to speak with professionals who can help you with specialized needs, referrals, and all sorts of things from instruments to accessories and repairs. Recently, they were able to special order a Cherub pickup for my acoustic violin. The special order only took a couple days and it was cheaper than Amazon's price by about a couple dollars. Even if it were slightly more expensive, I would have gone with purchasing from them over Amazon. Everything sounded great for my show at the LA Fair! Thanks for working with my schedule! read more

Nice little music store. Not a huge selection of anything but still decent. I always prefer a store like Styles vs. Guitar Center (where the young kiddos think they know everything about music and music equipment). The guys at Styles are older, knowledgeable and actually do know what they are talking about. They are seasoned musicians as well. Took my 1976 Fender Starcaster guitar in for a new nut, new string and a complete setup. Guitar strings started buzzing so I took it back. The tech told me that it needed the neck and the string sadles adjusted. Basicsly it needed to be set up, which is what he charged me for and why I brought it in the first time. He told that he had many other customers ahead of me and that it was gonna be some time before it would be ready. When I picked up the guitar the second time, guess what? I came here to set up my Fender Dg 8s guitar that I bought at a thrift store a few months ago. It was in real need of new strings and the action was very high so that had to be adjusted since I was struggling with it. For a acoustic set up it's $45, plus $11.99 (buy one get one free) Fender 80/20 acoustic strings. I also had them install a strap button for $20. They were very quick with it, they called me the next day to tell me it was finished and was ready to be picked up. They take card. read more

Very nice and clean shop. They seemed to have everything I needed and if they didn't they told me that they could order it. I walked in as the manager was training a younger employee but still found time to answer any questions I had. I was the only customer in the shop at that time of the day but I would still recommend them. I don't live in the area but their inventory was still better than my local music store. I've been to Styles many times, mainly for guitar repairs, and they always do a great job. They've performed set-ups, pickup replacements, fret replacements for me and I have zero complaints with the work they do. Gregg does top notch work in repairing and making upgrades and, for that, they get top marks for me. Any issues that may come up are communicated thoroughly so everyone is on the same page. I haven't made any purchases beyond accessories such as guitar strings, picks, etc and they do carry a nice assortment of all the aforementioned. They aren't some giant retailer, so while they won't always carry every single brand of guitar or amp, their hospitality, knowledge, in my opinion, totally makes up for it. read more

Buyer beware: I purchased a guitar from Styles on Reverb recently. It was approx. 3 weeks before I got around to checking the serial # with Fender. (Reverb buyer protection expires 7 days after you receive your merchandise) Fender Customer Support informed me what I had was the neck from 2018 Standar Tele and the 2012 Blacktop body. What Styles listed on Reverb was a 2018 Standard HH Tele - sadly, what I got was a partscaster. When presented with this information, Styles suggested a full refund of the purchase price less shipping both ways. For their listing error, it was suggested I take a $90 loss and they're made whole getting, their guitar back to sell again, while suffering no loss. Moral of the story: Trust no one, not even a well established shop such as Styles, to accurately list and/or depict merchandise online. Don't make my mistake - Do your due diligence before you buy! I came back home for months out on deployments and was looking for a music store and found Styles! Now I've passed by this store thousands of times and thought it was a record store. To my surprise it was a full guitar/amp/gear/music spot! I met Lou as soon as I walked in and the vibe was awesome. He was so helpful (he was also a big fan of my 180lb mastiff), I had questions about getting an upgraded amp for my electric Uke and wanted another amp/PA system for vocals. Lou answered all my questions with enthusiasm and even gave me tips on different gear he had. I walked out with both systems I was looking for, insider knowledge on the equipment I bought and became a lifetime customer. The icing on the cake... Lou called me up about a week after my purchase to see how the gear was performing?! I've never been to a place that checks in on the gear after you've bought it?! Honesty, I could not go in to return some OVERLY PRICED STRINGS. So I sent my mom to please do me the favor and she said he was so rude to her. He even said to his coworker: "can you believe she's coming in her for a 40 dollar refund?" and that he made it hard to get a refund, first off by saying: "I can't hear you" "I can't hear what you're saying because your mask" in a rude way. He then proceeded to look for other strings when my mom CLEARLY said she wanted a refund. He made such a big deal instead of just giving us our money. I will NOT be ripped off, therefore I will not be coming back. Just go to Sam Ash, worth the drive, better quality & better price. He sold me 'Ascenente' BEGINNER violin strings for 40 dollars!I was desperate for strings because my A string popped. Based on reviews they are HORRIBLE CHEAP quality and are online for max 25 dollars. I don't get why he lied to make a quick buck when I clearly told him I wanted good strings, he could have just been honest with me. I went to Sam Ash right away and bought 'Obligato' violin strings for 100 dollars, which are actually worth it. I've played violin for 13 years and I know what is worth the price. Next time don't OVERPRICE CHEAP strings and do my disrespect my mom/a customer and give me my well deserved refund. Will not be returning will not recommend. read more

Styles Music is the best. I get all of my guitar setups done here and they are consistently great. Most recently, I had my Gibson ES-335 modified for coil splitting. Greg gave me the proper recommendations and how I can go about this modification. He added Lollar Pickups (El Rayo and Imperial) to my 335 with the coil splitting feature, and he just transformed my guitar into the best sounding guitar I've ever listened to. I have always found styles employees helpful. It does have the small shop vibe though, where they help people one-on-one so you might wait a few minutes if they are busy. It is worth the wait though.
