this company are a bunch of con artist... story is to long to tell horrible customer service and they stole money from me. They admit to it on the phone but say there's nothing they can do but do a claim even though they see the way my money was stolen. Please do business elsewhere. UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES! If you are reading this, I encourage you to take my advice and rent your instrument from another music store. We rented a Yamaha trumpet beginning in September 2022. We made 13 payments on time and in October 2023, we were ready to turn in the instrument and purchase a trumpet. At the time of the rental, we were provided a contract with "Additional Terms and Conditions You Agree To." We found out at the time of purchase the key word in that statement is "You" because the store manager Jovani Jurado does not follow the same legally binding contract. Section 4 of the contract states that you are not allowed to purchase the instrument you are renting. No problem there. It further states you can buy another instrument at any time during this Agreement. That's were the first problem arose. Nowhere in this Section or Agreement does it state the instrument must be of equal value, but that's the made-up rule they applied in order to receive the following discounts. The contract states, "If you are current during the first 18 months, your Purchase Price will be equal the MSRP of the instrument you want to buy less 100% of the rental payments you have made. During the first 18 months, if you are current, you will receive an additional 30% discount of the Purchase Price." We made a total of $286 in rental payments that we should have been able to apply to the new instrument, as well as a 30% discount since we were current. However, Jovani Jurado, who mind you, didn't even have the courage to face me and tell me himself, decided the instrument we were purchasing was not expensive enough to receive the discounts we were obligated to receive. The salesman, who would only provide me with his first name, Ray, tried to apply several other sections of the Agreement to fit what this store manager wanted. Then, Ray told it needed to be the MSRP of the instrument. To which he said the instruments MSRP was nearly $800, which was a lie. I have the screenshots to prove the MSRP from the company's website was $499. Another unprofessional tactic by unethical employees. Jovani Jurado is a crooked manager who makes up his own rules when it comes time to purchase. In addition to this review, I will be filing a complaint with the Music & Arts corporate office as well as logging a complaint with the Better Business Bureau due to their breach of contract. So please take my advice and spend your hard earned money at a business that has a moral compass and follows the guidelines set forth by THEIR Agreement. read more

I just had a great experience with this business. I had an issue with my sons trumpet when cleaning it. I called guitar center and they referred me here. Ray helped me try to fix the issue over the phone and was very patient with me. I ended up having to go in to have the issue resolved. I have been coming here since it was alta loma music. Everyone is so helpful and if they can't answer your questions they make sure to find someone who can. I have been renting a flute here for a few years. My debit card got cancelled from my bank and they sent me a new one. I didn't think to call Music and Arts Center and give them my new number. They sent me to a collections agency after 1 month. They never called me or sent me a letter from their store. After receiving the letter from the collection agency I called and talked to someone and they gave me a number to call to give them my new card number. I did that. Now four months later I receive a bill, from the collection agency, for $140 saying that I haven't paid. Before any of this happened I tried to purchase the flute. They told me the money I paid every month would go towards the purchase of the flute. The man who helped me told me I had to purchase a more expensive flute and that they didn't sell the flute I was renting. I found out today when I called to clear up the money issue, that was a lie and I can buy my exact flute but brand new. Obviously someone was trying to up sell me. The company doesn't care to help me in anyway. I am returning my flute and losing a lot of money that was suppose to go towards a purchase. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Other places are cheaper and will fix your instrument for free. This place doesn't even fix instruments. read more

I've been coming here since 1993 when I first started play bass guitar. Took bass lessons and always came back to buy music related goods available over the counter, it's a tough business to survive with online sales at a fraction. It was called Alta Loma music but the owners gave in and sold to the new parent company Guitar Center the music conglomerate. Even though the store remains true to one on one customer service, lessons, instrument rentals, repairs, you would not even know this store disguised as a very small guitar center. Both my kids are active musicians and participate every summer with battle of the bands and represent Music and Art's center. read more

According to store clerk, it's company policy that you can only apply accumulated credit from renting an instrument towards the purchase of a new instrument if the total of said instrument minus the credit (and additional discounts) is at least $200. This wasn't explained when the instrument was first rented and the clerk wasn't able to point to this requirement in the contract. Given this experience, I will never do business with them again. Folks may want to keep these requirements (whether they are in the fine print or not) in mind. read more

Not a good experience here. Should have checked reviews before getting stuck at this place. Not sure if they have good business practices. Only reason we did that was because it was convenient but ontario mills isn't far and they have a place that is definitely better. We had rented an Alto sax and they ran our credit report just for renting. They charged us monthly for rental. It seems like they get you stuck. Everything here feels like there might be a trap. I have a small business and I work hard for it, practice ethically to serve clients. Justin the guy there says he's the manager. He's got a business background. He seems to be the one in charge. We wanted to just buy the alto since they were running our card every month. I didn't have that card on me. They said they need the card to make that charge. I don't get it. Something not right here. My money was stuck, I can only buy an instrument that's more value than what I had. I can't transfer it into music lessons, gift cards or anything else. I feel stuck. I don't mind driving far but having better experience w someone honest business practices. read more

I wasn't having very much luck in finding the sheet music I wanted from other stores in the area. I went here and was immediately greeted and even walked to the sheet music. The front desk guys are super friendly and I loved this place. I wish I would've found this place a lot sooner and saved all that time I wasted at other stores. read more

I am a professional producer, synth programmer, guitarist, and mixing/mastering recording engineer. My daughter takes guitar lessons from a guitar instructor at this store. The teacher is top notch. I wanted my daughter to learn pop and rock - not classical guitar. Found perfect instructor. Friendly helpful staff. Gear is for orchestral musicians and beginner modern band students (i.e. mostly solid state guitar amps vice tube amps). Great place to start music training for kids. read more

Never ever doing business with this company! I ordered instruments to rent in September. I never received the instruments. Found another company to rent from, that did deliver the instruments, and cancelled services with this company. The phone number on their website is not a working phone number. I contacted them by email several times and have had no response from the company. Today they charged me several times over $100 for services never received. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I rate this store at 5 stars! First of all, my instructor, Tommy Herrera, is an OUTSTANDING instructor. I am very excited about continuing my lessons with HIM because I can tell when an instructor is truly interested in seeing his students progress. Secondly, Blake--the salesman I first encountered by phone when I was driving around looking for a drum set--was and is always enthusiastic, and he not only found me an outstanding drum set, but he found it at exactly HALF the price the same set was listed for on Amazon, AND it included a HiHat and two crash cymbals with stands (one of which is a boom stand), whereas the one on Amazon included ZERO cymbals/stands. On top of that, Blake came out to my house on his own time to set it all up for me. You better believe I am a happy camper. I highly recommend this store to everyone. read more

My daughter took lessons from Genett for 11 years. Her and Pete were the glue that kept this store together. Since Music and Arts came in, it has never had the same family feeling it once did. My daughter may not take lessons there anymore though had planned to do a couple while on spring break with Genett until we were advised they were abruptly fired. This is the worst move this store could make. The rules of making a student a "new" student if a couple lessons were missed is ridiculous. My daughter was involved in many things at school and would miss a couple weeks at a time, was never an issue! I will never recommend anyone to your store but to your competitors. I have had issues with management several times where I actually called the main company complaining but nothing changed. Since Jessica took over it has gone downhill!! Thanks to the wonderful friendly and professional store manager Justin, the whole experience of me searching for the right keyboard and purchasing it was a great joy. I called his store beforehand to look for the specific keyboard I wanted. He politely and patiently answered all of my questions, and even offered to help me find what I want when I said I would visit the store. He was friendly and very respectful when I came to try the keyboard by letting me have enough time. He never rushed me or talked to me just to manipulate and make me purchase something, which I experience a lot whenever I go to any stores. It was clear that he is professional with business experience, respectful of customers and their decisions, and kind and honest about his business and instruments he deals with. This experience made me truly happy with the keyboard I am very satisfied, and made me come back to the store multiple times to purchase accessories. Love the people here! We came in to get our new guitar setup. Now, this was an inexpensive guitar, but they treated us like we are guitar gods. They spent a lot of time educating us as to how they could set the guitar up to play like butter. When we got it back, we were amazed at how great the guitar sounds and plays.
