Top Notch, Authentic and Delicious are the best words to describe this little spot. This review is for my second visit here. You receive Chips (fried in house) and salsa (fresh and made in house) upon being seated which was great while we browsed the menu. My husband got the California Burrito the first and second time and it wad a Hit. Its HUGE and filled with flame broiled steak, Chicken and mexican cheese. The ground beef in the tacos were literally melt in your mouth GOOD, I really enjoyed the tacos! The diablo Shrimp was pretty spicy but I love spicy foods so it was right up my alley. Another thing that I really really enjoyed were the beans. They were so creamy, perfectly seasoned and delicious. I do wish the portion size for those were larger. The Fajitas came out sizzling on a cast iron skillet on a bed of onion and bell peppers which was pretty fun for my daughter to see. She LOVED the churros; they pipe a type of pastry cream into the center of the dough before frying, they dip it in cinnamon sugar and finish it with a drizzle of caramel. YUM! I'm going to be very honest and say this was easily the worse Mexican food i have ever in my 28 years on earth ate. The queso is made of straight up velveta cheese and taste like shit. My fiancé got the taco bole and it taste like greasy cardboard. My burrito was also very disgusting and also featured shredded velveta cheese. I will NEVER in my life eat here again. Not to mention when we talked in one of the cooks was hunting flies with his rag in the eating area. save your time and save your MONEY!!!! read more

Disappointing. We thought maybe we'd found a new mom & pop restaurant to stop at on our regular trips through the Parish -- wrong. There was only one other occupied table when we arrived mid day. We were seated, with no eye contact, no hello, no how are you, nothing. Immediately we were asked what we wanted to drink. The menu is expansive and sounds good. The place is attractive enough. We both ordered plates with beans and rice. These huge plates arrived virtually empty (because they were so big). The food was meh. What was supposed to be fried and crunchy was soft but it tasted okay. The surprise came when the bill arrived, both plates were about $3.00 more than they were listed on the menu. We asked for an explanation and were told we had ordered the more expensive chicken when she had asked us something like "shredded or sliced?". The menu said nothing about an up-charge for sliced - but it wasn't worth the fight to argue with her about what the menu doesn't say. We paid our bill and tipped accordingly. We're always on the lookout for new, mom & pop places to support - the hunt continues. FYI - the chips and salsa were good. read more

Service is good and food was delicious every visit. We've tried the chile relleno, taco, tamale, enchilada, and sopapillas so far and I can't think of a negative thing to say. The owner was very friendly and answered any questions I had about the menu. I was very surprised by the negative reviews. I have never seen anything there that even looked like Velvetta based on a previous review. . . This restaurant is way better and far more authentic than El Paso or El Patron but that's just my opinion. Hope to see this restaurant succeed. read more

Where to start with the awesomeness of this restaurant? First the employees. They are all outstanding in their jobs. Making sure everything was ok without be annoying. Second the food. Everything is made at the restaurant. The refried beans are amazingly creamy and the rice is well seasoned. I got the plate that gave me a little of everything. Tostada, taco, tamale and enchilada. One item was better than the next. Now I don't know what to get next time since it all tasted delicious. Will definitely be going back. Came to eat bc my boyfriend says he's starving to death lol. It's 7:42pm they close at 10 and wouldn't take us because they don't want to stay any later than they have to, that's literally what she told us. I've never seen a restaurant turn customers down 2 hours before closing.
