The soccer side has three fields. Both the Baseball and the Soccer complexes have shaded playgrounds which are open even when there are no sports going on. The fields are in excellent condition, well maintained and with their respective painted lines. There is parking on all sides of each complex. [Review 16776 overall - 1501 in Florida - 289 of 2022.]

Pros: -Usually not too many people there but still some kids if your child wants to play with others. -SHADED! This is a HUGE plus, one of the few playgrounds that's completely shaded. -Fake grass instead of dirt or mulch. Cons: -Incredibly small! So when there is a crowd it feels like you're packed in like sardines. -No bathrooms only a portable bathroom that's usually disgusting, as most porti-potty's are. -Due to the size there's really not much equipment for the kids to play on.

This place was okay. We've been to better... and to worse…read more There are a number of baseball fields. We came to see a grandson play in a baseball tournament and this was one of the Fort Myer's locations that hosted the teams. There aren't many facilities, but at least the bathrooms were fairly clean. There wasn't any concession stand open when the game started in the morning. Luckily we'd brought our own snacks and drinks. One negative is that the parking lot is far from the fields. So plan accordingly for older folks or anyone who has a problem walking.

This facility used to be the spring training home for the Boston Red Sox https://www.yelp.com/biz/boston-red-sox-boston?hrid=xFEYND5UKPtAzEw8ORLI4Q who have since moved across town to JetBlue Park https://www.yelp.com/biz/jetblue-park-fort-myers-2?hrid=YTc96as1ndrjJy2Fhwr39A. There is a reasonable amount of parking here for the facility but definitely not enough if they're planning to host any sort of spectator event. I was able to see a good amount from the fence line though. [Review 13304 overall, 622 of 2020.]

There is a dedicated parking area and the Black History Museum is on site. The playground has a soft base and is located under some large shade trees. For those who might not be aware, Roberto Clemente was a Puerto Rican professional baseball player who played 18 seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Dame in 1973, becoming both the first Latin American and Caribbean player to be enshrined. He was an All-Star for 13 seasons and MVP for the National League in 1966. His batting average was over .300 for 13 seasons and he had 3,000 hits during his major league career. He also played in two World Series championships. So clearly, an outstanding sportsman. Clemente was involved in charity work in Latin American and Caribbean countries during the off-seasons, often delivering baseball equipment and food to those in need. On December 31, 1972, he died in a plane crash at the age of 38 while en route to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. The following season, the Pirates retired his uniform number 21, and MLB renamed its annual Commissioner's Award in his honor; now known as the Roberto Clemente Award, it is given to the player who "best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and the individual's contribution to his team." Because he was born in Puerto Rico and played baseball for a team based in Pittsburgh, I'm a little unsure as to why this park in Fort Myers (which does not have a baseball field) is named in his honor. If you're able to figure that out and share, thanks! [Review 13310 overall, 628 of 2020.]
