Ok, now the serious stuff. Was here for The Hive 2014 conference for 2 days of meetings and a 1 night stay. When you enter, there's a great open layout, a well-lit lobby, and a definite Nordic interior design vibe. It's an excellent option for a conference hotel in Copenhagen, but not the "sexiest" hotel here. CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT Staff super friendly and helpful, if you could get to them. I noticed at certain peak times in the morning/night that there were HUGE lines, and I think they need to staff better at those times. CONFERENCE CAPABILITIES The conference rooms, both the large ones and the smaller meeting ones are great and well set up. I would say that it felt a little warm/needed more ventilation but maybe that was just something that could still be controlled! The chairs weren't the most comfortable for long sitting, but I guess you don't want to fall asleep at the conference most times. We had about 200 people there and I think everyone was decently happy with the layout. They had great self-service coffee machines, a nice courtyard to hang out in during breaks, and free interent/WiFi. All super key... FACILITIES I didn't check out the exercise room (or pool? Not even sure that was one), but the lounge/restaurant/bar area was all well-designed and well lit, very Nordic modern hipster. The bar is not going to get crazy and wild, like the W or something; the night we came back on Saturday night around 2 am, the entire lobby was dead. But everything looked real nice and happening and bustling in the daytime. Good layout, great to get work and stuff done in the large lobby, lounge, etc. FOOD Pleasantly surprised by the food/lunch buffet we had (still gonna eat one more breakfast and lunch, but if it's anything like the first lunch I'm happy). We prepaid as part of the conference cost so I can't tell you how much it costs/if it's a good value, but the overall food quality was like a 3.5 or so and plenty of options. We had one fish fillet option, steak, a large salad bar, and quality bread/cheese ROOMS This is the only place I think the hotel kind falls short. It's well designed for sure and looks nice when you get in, but there are weird things, like a "MINIBAR" labeled area with no minibar inside, a shower stall that looks a little ghetto and makes it very hard to wash in if you are just using the sink because of shower stall layout. But AC, TV, WiFi was all good. Walls and Ceilings and Floors a bit thing. It's an acceptable business hotel room, with lots of wood inside, but nothing totally special. Decent beds, I completely passed out. LOCATION Great convenience right next to the Syndhaven Metro stop, but it's not in a very sexy neighborhood. There are some eating options around but the neighborhood is not the nicest outside/not great clubbing/bar/etc options. It's meant for a quick taxi ride (about 10 minutes to MeatPacking District by cab) or to hop on/off metro. Honestly, I'd overall give it more like a 3.5 ranking than a 4, but for the value for the money (I paid about $160 for the room, I think that's a decent deal in the central Copenhagen area) and conference experience I'm feeling charitable! Copenhagen rocks btw! Definitely come...

Not to mention it was really close to Torvehallerne Square, which is around an eight-minute walk from the hotel. I arrived early, before check-in, and the reception staff offered to hold my luggage so I could explore the city. They give you a code and place it in a locked and video-monitored closet down in the basement. It was easy to do and safe for your belongings. After some exploring, I returned to the hotel around 4 PM and finally checked in. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my single room had been upgraded to a larger room for free. I was stoked to hear that and loved the room and location they gave me. The room was beautifully furnished and was very clean! The only downside is the no AC. The temperature that day was in the low 60s (60-63 degrees). This may sound nice, but it was rather toasty in my room. They had a standing fan that, unfortunately, did not rotate, but it helped somewhat. They give you very heavy-duty duvets that are better for winter weather, but thankfully, I opened some of the windows in my room, which made it more bearable to sleep at night. The staff here was so friendly and accommodating. It's very close to plenty of sights, attractions, and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again. The city is not an inexpensive place, and I was a bit surprised to find anywhere for the price they offer. That it isn't smack on top of the public trans is a pest, perhaps, but it's a short cab ride to drop your luggage if you don't feel like going the two block walk from the nearest bus stop, and the place is usually quiet, which I found frankly refreshing. The cost includes linen, if not a towel, a key card that grants access to your room and your personal locker which obviates the need of bringing a lock, and there's an add-on option for a cheap all-you-can-eat breakfast [I had a lot of muesli and hot tea]. The rooms and bathrooms both were spotless when I stayed, and the hot water was plentiful. They did -not- have a kitchen which troubled me a bit, but they'll allow you to bring food from outside, just not alcohol.

If carrying or wearing luggage, it's far too long a walk, I would suggest a bus. Once you've lightened your load it's possible to walk the city, but I'd still want to get back to the area before dark. The route to the hostel is through quiet side streets in a not-so-great area of town. Once you find the place, check in takes forever. When you get to your room, you're affronted with 3 bunk high beds and lockers that are noisy and faulty. I was unlucky enough to get a bed on the top, which was incredibly hard for me to get to because I'm not exactly tall. I was afraid to take cold medication because there was no guard rail of any kind, nor was getting down any easier than getting up. The bed felt rickety, the mattress was uncomfortable and the room was loud. The internet didn't work at all in the room. For that matter it didn't really work anywhere else very well either. And then there's the bathroom. It always stank, the floor was always covered in water. The showers had nowhere to put/hang your clothes or towel. The doors were always open, both the one leading into the hostel and the one leading outside, so there were often bugs. The toilets often didn't even work. Traveling expensive countries is nothing new to me. The price of this hostel was faaaaar too high for it's quality, regardless if it's Denmark.

be very careful about booking a room here. I wouldn't if I were you…read more I attempted to book a room in July 2026, but because it was a Copenhagen charge on my card, and I live in the U.S., I received a fraud alert from my card. This is normal. However, since I was trying to book a room to last over a week in August, I did not want to have a double charge so I called my credit card and I told them it was an attempted charge but not to put the charge through . They did not. I have no record of paying anything to any booking site or to Scandi to secure any reservation. However, when I arrived in Copenhagen on 8/21 and checked into the other hotel "the Square" across the square that I booked on another card after I had cancelled the reservation attempt on the previous card, Scandi improperly charged my card $304 without warning. I walked over to their hotel that day and had two fairly rude and dismissive conversations with front desk clerks wherein they basically told me that their records indicated that I made a reservation and that I did not appear so they charged me $304 for a day stay. They claimed they had no control and it was Expedia. Here's the fraud: I never used expedia to attempt to make the booking and have no written evidence whatsoever a booking was made. None was. This is fraud. There is no record of my having paid any third party booking site or Scandia for any reservation. And ask yourself: why would I maid two reservations elsewhere if I had a reservation. at Scandi? There is no record of any third-party or Scandia telling me via email or in any form of writing that there was a reservation. There was none. There were no emails telling me about my impending stay because there was no stay scheduled. Scandi had the audacity to only agree to refund my credit card, when working with my credit card company to resolve this amicably, the princely sum of $2.98. Unfortunately, I'm the wrong person you try to pull this nonsense on. I will pursue this until I reach financial satisfaction - which I will. I will not be cheated. I will also be contacting the two principle government offices with the Danish authorities about this. I add this: in response to my credit cards' inquiries, Scandi produced no documentation or any proof of a made reservation, no proof a confirmation to me the reservation was made, no reminders in advance of any impending reservation or any proof of the holding of any such reservation. It simply kept the money and now has disrespectfully and fraudulently refunded me $2.98 back.
