We spoke, in person, with FRANK MONREAL the branch manager. Other banks offered HIGHER interest rates, so all we asked was that Old Plank (owned by WINTRUST) MATCH the rate of other banks. FRANK MONREAL stated, "we don't match", so we told him we would be in on Thursday 3/5/26 to close the account, and pick-up the check. Thursday morning we went in, and were told by MARKEELA McDONALD that we could NOT get our money as today is FRANK MONREAL day-off, and he had authorize it, WHAT! ... FRANK MONREAL KNEW WE WERE COMING TO PICK-UP THE CHECK, AND THIS IS HIS DAY-OFF! .. Well, in any event, MARKEELA McDONALD did get authorization, and after 2-HOURS, we went back, picked up the check, and promptly took out a new CD with the bank that has our OTHER CD. By the way, this other CD was money ALSO taken from Old Plank (owned by WINTRUST) ... Old Plank is NOT a BANK I would recommend or trust, and judging by the other reviews, other people feel that same way! ...

Instead of assisting its clients with information, they talk down to you. Whitney in particular stated that I wasn't using my account correctly and that "...if I didn't want to talk to a banker I should go to a larger branch". Are you kidding? Secondly, they ALWAYS try to weasel you into a new credit card or special offer they have. I simply like to make my deposit and be done with it. Even worse, earlier in the year, I declined a credit card offer. The teller said that he needed my mother's maiden name in order to put through that I didn't want to accept. At first I did not give out the information, but he insisted he needed it. The next week I received that credit card in my name which I had to go through a lengthy process of canceling when I DIDN'T want it in the first place. I love Chase, but there is a reason I will refrain from going to this branch. I will continue going to the Chase in Orland Park or Lisle for my banking needs.
