Dr. B is incredible. My husband and I became pregnant December 2012 and miscarried at week 7. I was devastated... but he took the time to answer all my questions a million times. He made sure I knew it was not my fault. He hugged me and we felt (my husband and I) that he truly hurt for us. Because of him we tried again right away! In July we became pregnant, and scared. I just knew I was going to miscarry... I called about every uncomfortable feeling and he was patient and understanding. His nurses were the best support system a patient could have. We were rushed but that's because everything was good! If there was a problem he slowed down and talked with me. I always felt like he respected my time and knew I was working and didn't have all day to sit in his office. Most visits didnt take longer than 5 minutes, But let me stress it wasnt because he didnt care... there is just so much you can do, and if you have questions you need to be prepared to ask when he ask "how are you doing". I grabbed at the chance to move back home to Austin after a 12 year tour of this great Country. As any newly relocated woman would do, I worked quickly to identify candidates for the almighty important vacant spots in my address ebook--- hairstylist? Check. Dentist? Check. Workout place? Check. The real quandary revealed itself when I moved to the, eh hem, Female Apparatus Maintenance and Testing Division. Should I get an Ob-gyn? Unless God has a sick sense of humor, my body should no longer be a capable breeder body, or maybe I should say no longer a brood producing body (let me take a moment now to thank those wonderful scientists who discovered the art of snipping Fallopian Tubes!). So I considered that maybe a primary medicine doc would be sufficient. Then I remembered something. Something awful. Something that meant I did indeed need a specialist. I remembered that I was approaching that time in my life that resembled puberty. In reverse. Hormones will be raging and I'll need someone who can guide me through all those choices of treatment for. Omg. Peri menopause!!! I still have a few years left before all that fun begins but at least I'll have *one* man by my side who will understand me. I let my fingers do the walking and selected a name that sounded, I don't know, fun? I picked Dr. Bushart. Shamelessly I picked him because I thought his name, Bush-art, was apropos. It evoked in my mind a kind of Edward Scissorhands and what woman doesn't just adore Johnny Depp? I made my appt using their cool online appt maker, so convenient. I arrived at the appointed time to find a rather small and not so fancy waiting room full of pregnant women. After experiencing a little PTSD I proceeded to sign in and do all those tedious chores that come with establishing new patient care. The office workers were efficient enough and soon I was in a paper gown awaiting my breast exam and "yearly" (codeword. Ask a girl) with Dr Depp. Actually there was no sense of romance, as any woman will tell you... the paper gown is the farthest thing from a Victoria's Secret garment and my hope was just to get er done without any road bumps so to speak. Dr Bushart was professional and engaging. I felt that he listened to me and actually took an interest in my overall well being. He wasn't particularly rushed as some docs can be. So he and his staff have earned their 5 stars. PS I noted that other reviewers think he has a great sense of humor. However, I'd been mispronouncing his name (it's Bus-heart) and he didn't seem to appreciate very much my alternate pronunciation. read more

Dr. Bushart is a great OBGYN. I switched to 'Buzz' once I found out my current OBGYN retired from prenatal care and baby delivery. Dr. Bushart has great bedside manner and is a natural comedian. He made me and my husband feel very comfortable at all of our prenatal care visits. He always took the time to answer all of my questions and made me feel at ease. His staff was always very welcoming as well. I was lucky and happened to go into labor when Buzz was on call, so I got to have the 'perfect scenario' in that the doctor I had been seeing for the entire 10 months was going to carry out in my delivery as well. I imagined the 'worst case' scenario for labor and was expecting for things to go astray from my birth plan 'best case scenario', but I have to say things could not have gone better or easier than planned. Labor is no easy task, let me tell you, but Dr. Bushart knew what he was doing and made the labor process easier for me, in the sense that things happened quicker and more easily than anticipated. He honored all my wishes and 12 hours later (personally I think 12 hours ain't to shabby for a 1st time delivery) we had a beautiful baby boy. 2 days later he came to check on me and the baby in recovery and was cracking jokes and smiles like he always does. Dr, Bushart will always and forever be the OBGYN I recommend to any of my friends for prenatal care and delivery! read more

All the reviews tend to focus on his care of the OB patient and I want the world to know that he is also a great GYN and he will take care of you with his own personal blend of humor and warmth even if you have no children and never plan to. He seems to care about womans' issues with their health in a way that I have found in few Docs whether they are men or woman. PS This review is written by an RN who focused for 5 years exclusively on the care and tretment of women with diseases of a GYN origin. So I have met a lot of OB/GYNs. read more

Dr Bushart is amazing! He is funny, engaging, and most important -- extremely skilled. We are first time parents -- and we interviewed about 4 OBGYN's and picked Dr Bushart -- best decision ever. For any other first time parents out there -- just know that a birthplan is complete bulls***! Your body and baby will do what they want regardless of how well you try to plan!! So, when the craziness ensues (or s*** hits the fan) -- you want someone who is competent and who you trust in your corner. My little bundle of joy refused to vacate the premises! Seriously, 41 weeks pregnant at the end of August. I required all sorts of interventions in order to bring my little guy into the world -- but that is where Dr Bushart truly excels. He is funny and caring -- but when stuff needs to get done -- he is your guy! In the end -- we have the most perfect little guy ever! As a side note -- we took the birthing class at Seton Main -- super great idea -- they literally walk you through everything -- so if you need to use a vacuum during your delivery -- you know exactly what you are getting yourself into before it happens ----- yes, I am speaking from personal experience!! Remember -- Birthplans are useless -- Just try to roll with the punches and you will have an amazing birth experience! Oh -- and also make sure you pick Dr Bushart as your doctor :) read more

Best Dr ever! Makes things very simple, stress free and he is fast but thorough with annual exams!

For almost 7 yrs now I've been in the care of Dr. Bushart (pronounced bus-heart). He's extremely good at what he does. He's a natural comedian at heart so you find yourself very relaxed and smiling from ear to ear when you need to go visit him. I delivered my son Maddox last September in the care of Dr. Bushart. I was scheduled to be induced on Tuesday, the 18th. The morning of the 17th I go in to see Dr. Bushart and he tells me that I'm not in labor and that I was pretty much STILL at 2 cm dilated. Frustrated I go home in hopes of getting a few hours of sleep, a good meal and some relaxation. During my visit he tells me that it's his 30Th wedding anniversary. Him and his wife were going out for dinner and a show. Quietly, I prayed this baby wouldn't mess up his anniversary dinner and he would be forced out of me the next day as planned. After the appointment I started to get a few cramps but they would subside once i laid down. Later on during The Hills (I'm ashamed) those cramps became more and more intense. Thinking I was in labor we went to the hospital. Upon arrival the hospital nurses said that Dr. Bushart was "off that night" and that some complete STRANGER was going to deliver my baby. Naturally, I was pissed. I spent 7 years with my OB/GYN and 9 months of this baby being in his care. I was disappointed but I tried to be nice to the other attendee even though she knew I was disappointed that I had HER instead of HIM. Around 6:30 am this baby wanted to come out. I was 100% effaced and ready to push. I gave it one push and as I was starting to push for the second time, my wonderful superman Doctor rushed in putting on his gloves and surgical mask. It was out of an ER episode only it was real. He came in, took charge and a few pushes later he was out. He told me he rushed over as soon as he found out I was in labor. He made it just in time and for that I will forever love my OB/GYN. read more

Dr. Bushart is the best doctor ever!! He is funny and thoughtful and makes me feel more like his daughter than a patient! I've been with him about 9 years now and will never switch! He has delivered hundreds of babies - there are pictures of him with brand new babies all over the walls! He delivered my first kiddo and is already taking great care of my second! His nurse is also completely wonderful as well as the girls at the front desk who remember my name and ask about my little boy every time I come in! Where do i begin... This man is awesome!! I was referred to Dr. Bushart 5 years ago from my best friend. He had delivered ALL four of her children and i was in need of an OB/GYN so i took her advice and made an appointment. He is great! He made me feel completely comfortable and you can actually have a conversation with him. Long story short i was told many years ago after my son who is now fourteen that i probably wouldnt conceive another child... Dr. Bushart told me never to rule it out and not to give up hope. A couple years later i conceived completely on my own. Of course i wanted to be seen the very next day. I was nervous, in shock, petrified ...etc...etc So i went in and of course they got me back quickly for lab and then i headed back out to the lobby to wait to see him.. In true Dr. Bushart fashion he comes out to the lobby calls me to come back and tells me " I bet your happier then the cat that ate the canary right now." and I was. He took the best care of me throughout my pregnancy.. I gained what i thought was too much weight and even asked him his opinion and he just said "your fine, enjoy this time." He didnt get to deliver my son but he had informed the doctor who did all about me. Early the next morning he visited and we talked and I felt he genuinely was happy for me and my husband on our new arrival. He has such a big heart and an excellent bed side manner on top of being an EXCELLENT phyisican. read more

Dr. Bushart, but a lot of his staff and patients just call him Buzz, is by far the best OB/GYN I've ever had! I've been with him for 4 years now through 3 pregnancies, 1 birth, and hopefully my third one in October! The best way I can describe him is a cross between Santa Claus and a puppy! He's full of energy and always pleasant and smiling! My husband is very impressed with him, too. When my second child was born, his cord was wrapped around his neck twice. My husband said Buzz swooped in there very professionally and took care of things like it was no big deal. My baby was then immediately put on my chest and the rest is history! Absolutely no complications. His support staff is great, too! Rosalyn, his nurse, is so sweet and they've been working together for forever I think. ;) He is apart of a great group of doctors through Austin Regional Clinic, so if you have a baby there is a chance someone else will deliver the baby. But rest assured that the whole group is fantastic and come highly recommended! Dr. Cosentino delivered my first baby and, while he was more serious then I prefer, he did a great job delivering my son. And really, above all else, that's what matters most. Finding a doctor or, more commonly these days, a group of doctors that will respect your wishes under normal circumstances and get you and your baby(ies) through labor and delivery safe and sound. read more

I was scheduled for a laparoscopy that was supposed to be in and out. It ended up turning into being admitted into the hospital due to the excruciating pain I was in. Dr. Bushart is my ob's partner and while he isn't my ob, I felt total comfort while speaking to him and most importantly he actually listened to me. He gave me some suggestions that no other ob including my own has ever mentioned, I am so impressed with him that once I have my follow up with my ob, I plan to switch and become one of his patients. Medical Park Tower is so spectacular, an amazing network of doctors. I was having complications with my PCOS, and initially went to Dr. Hanson. I didn't like how she would say OK 13 times in a sentence, so I scheduled my next appointment with Dr. Bushart. I was very apprehensive since this was going to be my first time with a male gyno. I explained to him my situation and he was just like aw you poor baby! Oh you poor thing! Some people might think this is inappropriate or whatever, but I was like 19, felt like I was dying, and all alone in Austin, and I just felt so comforted by this!! I just wanted to hug him! He said his daughter, who is only a few years older than me, had the exact same problems, so I felt like I was in very good hands. He tried many different approaches to help me, but none really worked, so I eventually switched over to Dr. Brinkman, but whenever I would see Dr. Bushart in the hallways he would always stop to check up on me. He is definitely the most caring and compassionate doctor I've ever had. read more

Dr. Bushart is the best OBGYN I have ever had. He is a natural comedian and is perfect for the husbands/fathers as well. With our first kiddo he took time to explain everything from beginning to end and was perfect. Our daughter was due on 3/19, which was the last day Dr. B was on call. She came 3/20 so he was not the one that delivered her, but he appropriately oohed and aahed over her when he saw her at my post-birth appointment. Dr. Bushart is a PHENOMENAL doctor. Like "Ms. B" said ...who the heck gave this doctor a ONE STAR rating? I could write a novel on how amazing this doctor is, but I won't..I'll just state the positives. He has great bedside manner, great humor, he's knowledgeable, kind, caring, and you leave his office knowing you're in good hands! I had a terrible and scarring experience at another OB's office...but the second Dr. Bushart came into the room beaming with that smile I instantly knew this would be my doctor throughout this pregnancy. Dr. Bushart WAS the fill in for my daughters birth. My regular female OBGYN was on vacation when I went into labor and they told me another doctor would be coming. I was so comfortable with my gentle natured and soft spoken doctor, I couldn't imagine anyone filling her shoes. Then Dr. Bushart arrived on the scene and came into my room and had us all laughing within minutes and me feeling so much better about everything. I did not know the sex of my child before delivery and he was so excited to be the one to tell me. I had some problems right towards the end and he had to use this giant plunger looking device to suction cup to the baby's head. Then he put his right foot up on the end of the bed, bracing himself, and gave a couple hefty pulls to the right and to the left, and boom, out came the baby. All I could see was a small dark head of hair. He cupped her in his hands and turned her around and said "Ooooh, It's a Woman!". I think there were about 5 seconds of dead silence and then we all burst into laughter, including the nurses. That one remark took away all the stress that had been building up to that point. Later when it was just me and the baby in my room, he came by for a picture with us. I knew then that I wanted him to be my new doctor. He is very passionate about what he does, he is a loving husband and father, regularly sharing stories about his own marriage and home life, and just an all around caring man. He shoots straight with you and is always on time with his appointments and gives you many options to consider when you are having an issue. I never mind making that yearly appointment, he makes what typically is considered an uncomfortable time, something quick and professional. I wouldn't trade him for anything, or anyone. read more

I just saw Dr. Bushart and loved him. I am sure I have found my Doctor. He listened to my concerns and questions and explain to me in detail. After having bad experiences in the past I was very nervous to see a new doctor but he made me feel so comfortable. I feel just the same as everyone here. I met Dr. Bushart (BUZZ) in 1996 when my primary physician gave me a Pelvic Exam and couldn't feel my ovaries. She sent me to have a Sonogram and I had a very very Large Ovarian Cyst. I was 34 and up to this point had never been in the hospital for anything much less had surgery. I am overweight so the cyst continued to grow without noticing it until the pain. At that point it was about to rupture and they had me in surgery that night after I had the Sonogram. Dr. Bushart came in and held my hand and told me that I was going to be alright and that it was like a walk in the park. I told him I wanted to have kids at one point but at that time I was not married but in love with someone who was not ready for marriage and I had been in love with him since high school. So, he said he would do everything in his power to save my ovary. It was so bad that I ended up loosing it but the Cyst was the size of a small Watermelon and he got it out and I recovered beautifully and walked away with a new GYN and friend. He is a good man and he does care. He loves babies and I have never met anyone who did not love him. I refer everyone I know to him and I have been doing this since 1996. My nieces are just now teenagers and when they get old enough they will be going to him too. I just wish I could see him for everything. Finding a good doctor is not easy in this day and time.
