Went here for lunch today for the first time and it was the best sushi I have had in awhile! Salmon was fresh and delicious and I really enjoyed the calamari salad and banana wonton dessert too. Service was also above and beyond, Jin made sure I had an amazing lunch. The owners and staff here really care about their customer's experience and they have been in business for 19+ years. I was somewhat disappointed in our experience at Bushido. Our server was very friendly and kind, but forgot to either order or serve two of the dishes that we ordered. The glasses that were served with the bottled beer were too large - we prefer small glasses that we pour for each other as is the Japanese tradition. Also, the iceberg lettuce, the only thing in the salad, was not torn into small enough pieces to use chopsticks efficiently, and the dressing was lumped unattractively in the center. The miso soup was not very tasty and quite plain. We enjoyed the sushi, however. It was Americanized (mayo!) but, it was still not bad. I ordered the Japanese curry, but it did not come with fukujinzuke, which is one of my favorite things! So, the experience was okay, but I won't be rushing back. read more

Solid spot for a quick, authentic sushi bite. The waiter was super friendly and the food came out fast and reasonably priced. Started out with one of the best miso soups I've had with a deep flavorful broth and lots of scallions, and the seaweed salad was delicious. The Bushido rice was a good choice, different, garlicky with a little jalapeño kick, and they give you a yummy pink sauce on the side to cool it down a bit. Good selection of regular sushi and specialty rolls. We got a sashimi roll and bushido roll. Both fresh and filling. Service was slow and frustrating. Our server, Heidi, camped out in the back while we were waiting for simple items like straws and napkins after repeating ourselves multiple times. The food wasn't even good. Afterwards, our checks were confused multiple times and even our cards were handed off to the wrong tables. Then, we noticed a 25 dollar overcharge in our bank account. It's a nice sushi shop in downtown Venice. The atmosphere is very relaxed, one where you can enjoy a date or a meal with friends and watch the game. I ordered the negamaki beef, volcano roll, and the dynamite roll as suggested by our waitress. The sushi rolls are handmade behind a bar in full view, so you can see that you're about to get fresh sushi. The negamaki took a minute to come out as my appetizer, but it was so juicy and flavorful. It's thinly sliced beef wrapped around spring onions and sautéed with broccoli. The waitress brought over a free plate of banana wontons for dessert. We also tried the ramen and tempura udon, the ramen was just okay but the udon and tempura was great on a cold day. Nice relaxing atmosphere with soft music, i liked the oriental interior and details. We got the Shrimp Shumai, Tokyo roll, and Godzilla roll. The server was nice and let us go over the menu, our food was ready in around 15 minutes. The Shumai were decent, overpriced for the amount, and not as hot as I'd like but not bad, the Tokyo and Godzilla rolls were delicious and filling, priced fair, didn't taste low quality. Then we got had banana wontons for dessert, which were alright, sweet and airy. Overall I'd come back again, just for the sushi. read more

Came here during our stay in Venice. We ordered Chicken Katsu and Chicken Teriyaki. The dishes come with both soup and salad as well as your choice of steamed white rice or fried rice. We also ordered a bottle of lychee sake. The pros: The sake was delicious! Service was quick The free dessert was good Cons: The food wasn't great. I've had chicken Katsu before but this one was really greasy and didn't taste fresh. The soup was very plain and lacked flavor. The fried rice also lacked flavor. The chicken teriyaki was my least favorite. The chicken tasted boiled and then smothered in a lackluster teriyaki sauce mixed with veggies. The seating was uncomfortable and table space was limited. I didn't get to try the Bushido Fried Rice which sounds good but not sure I'd be back. read more

Stopped in for lunch after a hot walk along the beach. Had a nice, quiet atmosphere. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon, but the service was great. Waitress was very nice and I appreciate that she wore a mask. I got their lunch special of tofu teriyaki, which also came with a miso soup (I think it was a choice between soup or salad). A lot of places have weird tofu but theirs had a nice breading with good flavor, not too mushy but not overly tough. Food was a nice balance of textures and flavors, and I was also starving so that helped. The waitress was also kind enough to give a few complimentary banana wontons for dessert. I only got a tea to drink but for a total cost of about $18, I left super full. I had an hour drive back home, so I really appreciated the hospitality here. read more

I was craving some sushi for lunch one day.  I could have easily gone to Publix for their daily lunch specials.  But I heard about Bushido from a teammate at work and decided I would take the walk down and try it out. I placed my order prior and couldn't wait to have my sushi fix for lunch.  I ordered a Bushido roll as well a California Sunset Roll.  The price was typical from what I would normally pay for sushi up North so I was okay with it. I absolutely loved both.  The Bushido roll had so many different flavors and it was just what I was looking for.  The California Sunset roll was a lovely spin on a California Roll.  I will be back in the area next week and already have my order ready for that trip.  I printed out their menu ... and will check off each roll I try until I have had them all.  I don't even mind the drive to Venice from North Port to get sushi like this.  I will drive for quality and sushi!! read more
