SushiOo! North Port's finest. A little history. Our girlfriend's of Charlotte County Girlfriend a group of women of all ages. Who come together for events of variety types of opportunities to meet other women. Headed by two Joanne Giannini Nigrelli & Christine Marie Terp. Our girlfriends majority are of Charlotte Cty., but we have ladies from neighboring counties as well. Our group is Wednesday, Leisurely Lunch & Dining Divas. Yesterday, we returned to SushiOo! Due to our recent cold weather all the ladies moved to their warmer cuisine of Asian dishes. So many started off with HOT soups of clear or other types, miso, wonton, etc. Other apps chosen were spring rolls, tuna tartar, edamame, and more! Entrees varied from Pad Thai, Bento boxes, and other delights dishes with steak, shrimp, and chicken. Ming and his staff of SushiOo had provide service beyond all expectations. From our drinks, to our apps, all through receiving our individual receipts. They placed us in their private room which gave us the full rein of fun, laughter, smiles, lots of conversations, chatter, and mingling through the tables. We had several new comers, as this was their first time at one of our events. They we warmly welcomed, and said they will come again. The great accomplishments of CCGF are that women get to meet women that paths may have never crossed. And now they have the opportunity to meet and develop friendship, relationships with others of like interests and values! Here are our pics! We got Pad thai, pad see ew, coconut soup, thai iced tea, pad kra pow snapper, and green curry. There's no lunch on weekends (so be ready to pay dinner prices), they charged us FOUR dollars for a container of peanut sauce that was a out a tablespoon. The wait time was also 20 minutes longer than expected (1 chef in the kitchen-don't open if you're not ready!) If you go here, I would only recommend the green curry and pad thai, the rest was mediocre. read more

there was only one other table with people eating in this huge place.. of course we jokingly said "hmm, i hope it's not sign to leave " once we placed our order we sat there for close to 30 min .. then we were informed that they had a large to go order and our food shouldn't be too much longer.. which would have been nice to know before placing the meal.. now for the bad part.. the food was not as tasty as the 4.3 stars would lead you to believe.. the calamari batter was not crispy and tasted like they need to change their oil.. my pad see ew was lacking flavor in general.. except black pepper.. and had 4 small broccoli buds.. the almost all the sushi had a mayo base .. on the positive note, their water tasted good.. over all, a huge disappointment for 3 out of the 4 eating.. live & learn and pay to play sushi o 1 patrons 0 read more

Service and decor were great, but unfortunately that was the height of our experience. The sushi rolls were very small. The filling was about the size of a dime, if that, and it was mainly the seaweed and rice wrapped around that gave it any bit of size. For a place that's named after Sushi, their rolls were extremely underwhelming. They have a large variety of rolls, but that's as far as the positive goes. Also, oddly enough, the eel sauce was on the watery side. Not necessarily a jab at the restaurant, just a note because I've never had it like that before. If you're looking for good sushi, I would look elsewhere first. read more

First time at SushiOo and I have to say, it's such a beautiful, modern spot. The decor is sleek and fresh with gorgeous chandeliers and a clean color scheme that makes the whole space feel elevated but still comfortable. Our waitress, Jeni, was absolutely wonderful. Super sweet, attentive, and accommodating, which made the whole experience even better. To start, I tried the Coconut Soup with Chicken. It wasn't really my favorite. The flavors were very different and unique, but I appreciated how interesting the dish was. For the rest of my meal, I ordered: * Edamame - always a great starter. * Fuji Roll - definitely one of my favorites. * Asparagus Roll - light, fresh, and simple. * Bangkok Roll - basic but good Overall, SushiOo is a stylish, inviting spot with great service and solid sushi. Stopped in for lunch and a server told us a party if 8 just put their order in (they were the only ones in the whole restaurant) and the food would take long because they are light staffed in the kitchen. 6 people were waiting to be seated and we all just left. Weird. If you are open for lunch you should be staffed . Kudos to the waiter for giving us the heads up though. read more

We just went last week and they changed their menu again. The prices went up for less food. It's a shame because we really liked going there. The service is always great and it's nice and quiet. But I like sushi, sashimi and rolls. Unfortunately we probably won't be going back. read more

It's a shame someone invested so much money into this business and it's slowly going down the drain. Soap dispensers fallen off the wall, always out of ingredients for foods and the staff is ALWAYS overwhelmed. They are so sweet & are trying for the sake of the customers but they need help. The actual sushi always tastes and looks amazing, but you have to bring your patience.. a lot of it. *Also, Mondays all you can eat is gone* BOOOO! read more

I'm not a sushi person, but when we heard they had Thai food, too, we gave it a try. The Thai food was excellent! My yellow curry was the best I can recall having. My wife's chicken pad Thai was also very good. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. And the decor is also very nice. We will be back for more! read more

Went here for Father's Day! They have remodeled the inside of the building, was a relaxing atmosphere. The food was good and fresh and even custom made a roll for me that wasn't on the menu. Overall experience will definitely come back. read more

Great first time at a new sushi restaurant in North port-Sushi O!! I opted out for AYCE! I believe $35 for dinner-what a great deal for fresh and delicious sushi and sashimi! I wish hey had pacific oysters , but was told by the waitress they won't be back till sometime in September ! I shall return. The only thing negative-it seemed they couldn't figure out which server serves which table , but at last I was greeted and was able to place an offer, after this mishap the service was very friendly and attentive . New to North Port this Japanese and Asian restaurant has a menu for everyone's taste. It features traditional Japanese as well as some Thai dishes. Reservations are not taken. Our party of seven arrived and had a short wait. The restaurant is open and spacious with a mixture of leather seating at the booths and very comfortable seating at tables. The decore is pleasant but not overly or lavishly decorated. In addition there is a traditional Sushi bar. Sake, Beer and fu fu drinks are available. Our party ordered a variety of appetizers that were unique and tasty. Our main course choices included Sushi, Sashimi, Harbachi chicken, Tempura vegetables, poke dishes. No complaints from anyone. This is a new restaurant and kitchen and wait service folks were pleasant and anxious to please however staff did seem confused, kitchen was overly slow, waiters delivered individual meals intermittently, a few minor food order mistakes. As they settle in and develop a routine these issues will disappear. Give these folks a try , you won't be disappointed. read more

The space is bright and welcoming, filled with natural light and anchored by oversized, modern chandeliers that add a fun, ocean-inspired touch--like a sea of light and glass overhead. The staff was warm and attentive, and our server Maria was an absolute gem: professional, kind, and incredibly helpful as we explored the expansive "endless" menu (all you can eat). With her guidance, we sampled an impressive variety of small bites, enjoyed four delicious rolls, and even made room for a decadent fried Oreo to end on a sweet note. Service was perfectly paced, and every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. We genuinely felt like we were on a culinary adventure. We are SO SO SORRY TO GIVE THIS REVIEW. BUT we brought friends from Washington State for the first time here! We had been several times. GREAT SERVICE! GREAT FOOD! But tonight we got there at 5:30. Didn't not get our food till 7:15ish, if not later. Just left. Past 8pm. Food was Delicious But 3 of our dishes were warm not temperature hot! So SAD to have this happen! Then our NEW just hired waiter did not bring waters had to ask while eating the spicy food. Then when we paid had no change so our friends gave double+ the tip because he wanted to get home. $75 bill gave him $26 tip. CRAZY. Will think twice about going Back. DANG!!! read more

This is a hidden gem here in North Port. I write this with trepidation because I don't want everyone to go here. Anyway the food is incredible. I am not a raw sushi type so I get the cooked rolls. Gave it two stars because it is a new restaurant. It can always be improved. Placing huge chandeliers and grandiose decor in the dining area doesn't qualify it as fine dining. The menu is too large for the cooking staff to produce fine quality dishes. Considering the name of the restaurant is "Sushi O" I was expecting better quality sushi. If you really want sushi, then go to a place specializing solely in sushi. read more

Such a great addition to the area! Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made, and you can really tell they put care into every roll. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was cozy without feeling rushed. had lunch here right after they opened, it is by far the best restaurant to occupy this space since I moved here. they did a great job on the decor, it is now bright and bursting with light. started with crab rangoon, a little over cooked but still tasty. we both went with tempura chicken and rice. the meals were filling and tasty. read more
