Sat in drive thru for 20min. Only me and 2 cars in front. Server came out took order of lady in front then goes inside 10min later comes out gives her her order then starts walking to me and decided to go to car next to me who litteraly just pulled up. Food is good . Always hot and served pretty quick unless you order livers or gizzard, which they will usually try to make you a hot fresh batch which only takes about 15 minutes. Worth the wait. Their rolls are good also even though someone changed the recipe a while back. ****** read more

I chose my normal and favorite items today. Fried chicken gizzards and fried chicken livers. I call them crack balls as they are so addictive. They are Slap Yo Momma Good and they come with delicious country gravy and a roll. Bush's has great fried chicken. They have several meal options on their menu and their prices are reasonable. They also offer chicken strips, baked chicken, chicken gizzards and chicken livers. I have eaten at several locations across Texas and they are very consistent. They have amazing Sweet Texas Tea that you can purchase by the gallon. The stores are generally clean and the staff always seems friendly and professional. This is the worst Bush's Chicken I've ever eaten at. The chicken was cold, like room temperature cold. And they messed up my order. Included in my order of tenders was a drumstick. And two gravy containers, but no mashed potatoes. And no utensils. And they brought me someone else's credit card back first as a mistake. But look all that is forgivable if I hadn't gotten sick after eating there. Stomach didn't feel right that night.. save you the gory details but it was 3 days before I could eat again. This place needs a new manager. Someone who will enforce quality standards, this brand is always solid other locations. But avoid the Killeen location. read more

I like Bush's Chicken however during our last two visit's I ordered Drum sticks and both times the meat was not fresh and had a bad taste. The Coleslaw was ok along with the mashpotatos. Will give it one more try and they we will see. read more

Hit and miss. Second time patronizing this establishment. First time we thought the chicken and assorted fixin's were pretty decent. Said we would probably try it again. Second time around, not so much. Found all the chicken on this Saturday evening (9:30pm) to be extra dry. The Mac and cheese was bland, the corn nuggets missing corn and the box of ocra half empty. Iced tea is pretty good though. A common theme here is they are always out of something and it is a 15 minute wait. This time is was thighs which were replaced with some shriveled chicken tenders. There is always a line here so I guess the food is acceptable for most folks. Interesting experience I just came home from. Apparently the 6 tender meal comes with only one dipping sauce. When I ordered the 4 extra sauces for $1.85 I was told that its an old menu posted on their big wall. I explained that she had to sell it to me for that price and the waitress/car hop stormed off. I got home to find I paid for 6 tenders and received only 4. Don't punish your customers for ordering off your posted menu. read more

The only reason I visited was for the livers, which are so so. The reasons I won't return are numerous. Let's dive in. The Good: They serve fried livers and don't cringe when you order them. More Americans should eat offal. The Bad: Pretty much everything else. Service is unreliable. Twice now I've ordered livers and received gizzards. I'm unable to eat gizzards so this is a problem. The first time got all the way home before I checked. This time I checked before I got too far away. The batter needs seasoning. For Pete's sake, throw some salt and pepper in the flour. IT in"t as movies imply Texas is a southwestern estate, not deep south Kike Mississippi. In MS and other deep south states, sweet ir unsweet tea si available (as long as a true Southerner sets menu). It's rare to find sweet tea in TX. Raspberry Tea, however, si everywhere. They are artempting to replace sugar with raspberries. Sugar is better than substitute sugar. Raspberry - healthy sub? I haven"t bothered checking, to determine if raspberries are simply sweet/sour (naturally sweet) or if they add sugar, sugar substitute or agave). Raspberries off vine are sweet and quite tart. Regardless, it tastes awful to me. Adding sugar only Works with bartender's sugar. So, grateful this friend ckicken Restaurant understands that sweet tea goes w/REAL southern cooking, and know how to make REAL Southern Fried chicken! I don't have to make chicken when just not up to it, yet it tastes so much like mine - SCORE!! Veggies: so easy. Feeling really bad? Jiffy cornbread or their cornbread and/or rolls. Don't forget: sweet or unsweet tea. Plus the new flavored teas. My recipe: small sauce pan (small pot/pan). Add puré water, filling 2/3 full of water, bring to a boil. Add 1. 75 to 2 c. sugar to water as IT begins to simmer. Once boiling, drop in 2 Lipton tea bags, family style, cover remove from heat. Steep minimum of 20 min. I have never shared this. I don't share recipes I cook and author. With a meal from this Restaurant, you will be quite happy with a meal or with ckn to go with veggies you have waiting @ home. You can get a true southern meal here. Southern is east of The River and goles to the N Kentucky state line. Low Country Southern is different, more seafood and seasonings. I have to say, my experience there last Thursday, July 23, 2015 was quite pleasant. They were closing their dining area (drive thru was still open) yet still let my wife and I order, sit down and enjoy our food as they cleaned up around us. When we were done, we realized they had been closed for 20 minutes. The shift Mgr checked on us and they even brought drink refills to us. A lot of people only leave reviews when they get upset at fast food workers, but sometimes you have to give kudos when they get things right! read more

After 15 minutes, I finally decided to get out of line - I'll find something good at home. I had only moved up 2 car lengths within 15 minutes. Several behind me had already pulled out. I've driven by this place for a while and have never tried it until today. I was surprised that there was no order menu only a large menu on the wall near the Drive thru menu. This was no issue as there was a friendly faced employee waiting to take my order. I tried the 2 piece individual chicken meal which comes with 1 side, drink, roll and gravy for $7 and change. I also ordered a half an half to drink. Although the order was taken quickly, the food was brought out quickly and the employee was very friendly the food didn't measure up to the experience. All food was hot and the chicken strips were fresh but very bland. The fried okra was lightly fried but very bland, not a pinch of seasoning was tasted. I don't typically like gravy and with chicken tenders it threw me off but for the sake of Yelpers... the gravy tasted watered down and again, bland. The roll was warm and tasty with a hint of sweetness. The honey mustard sauce was very good. The coleslaw was decent but had a different taste that was unidentifiable after a few sporks full I thought it was in my best interest to discontinue eating it based on the inability to identify that taste which wasn't bad just "different." The half n half ended up being sweet tea but it wasn't that great, watered down and not a distinctive tea flavor was recognized. There is a sign for "military Mondays" forgot to ask what that consisted of but it doesn't matter as I will not be eating here again due to minimal satisfaction with the overall flavoring of the food. I do believe if seasoning was included this review would get additional stars easily. read more

This is the first time trying Bush's chicken and love it! We're originally from California, so we're used to seeing KFC, Popeyes and Church's chicken. The deep fried chicken liver is the best! Not to mention the corn poppers (I think that's what they're called). LOL Will definitely keep coming back for those two items on their menu. :) read more

Came here for some lunch today with my husband , I had the 3 piece meal 1 leg and 2 wings , tell me why when I got home I experienced very very bad stomach pain i won't go into details but something isn't getting done over there and I had a tea so don't know if where they store the tea is contaminated due to not cleaning properly or their chicken isn't kept in the proper temp. Wow I'm floored! Came to this place on tender Tuesday. Placed my order and they told me a 10 minute or more wait on our Mac and cheese. Ok that's cool so I ask if they could throw in a tea considering I'm waiting in the parking lot with two kids and a newborn. No sir we can't do that.
