Best escape room ever!!!! I've only been to two, but this one doesn't even compare to the other place I went. All four of us had SO MUCH FUN. We kept talking about it for weeks after! I can't wait to come back and experience the other rooms! We did the Rattlesnake one. It was very well made and very well thought-out. Talk about some amazing escape rooms! In my opinion, this is in the top two of escape room venues in Albuquerque. My wife and I participated in an escape room enthusiasts gathering in Albuquerque recently and, among the 15 rooms we did together during the tour, 3 were already scheduled here (and we did the fourth during our downtime). Each one was an absolute blast. Top pick for my wife was Rattlesnake Junction. It was a delightfully immersive space, making you feel like you just stepped into a small Old West town. The game featured a unique hint mechanism that aided in feeling like you were in a real space with actual people. The puzzles themselves were generally intuitive, though we did fall prey to one of our usual traps. Still, if you don't have our bad habit, you're going to have a great time. We still did in spite of our momentary blunder! My top was probably Jumanji. A fun homage to the game, it had my favourite kind of layout. The transitions between areas was fun and generally logical and the set design was lovely. My only complaint would be that I almost wish the last area was larger or had an extra room. Otherwise, loved it completely! The other two rooms are no slouches, either. Mayan Temple is a fairly traditional ancient ruin themed room, but it executes it well. The lighting presents the biggest challenge but never makes anything impossible. Area 53 is a space escape which, in some ways, I wish could be expanded further, but it also featured a unique puzzle trick that we'd never seen before and became a favourite talking point. In addition to the rooms, the business is in a great location, has knowledgeable staff, and very approachable owners. If you're in Albuquerque for any reason, I definitely recommend stopping here for a room or four! read more

This was such a fun place to go to!! As an escape room enthusiast, I was excited when I heard that there was a new escape room business in Albuquerque. First impression was that I enjoyed how clean it was. This is of course very important in escape rooms when you're touching a lot of objects. It's clear that they truly take hygiene into account and make sure their rooms are clean for the next customers. Our game master was very pleasant. She explained things in detail and gave us our clues when we asked. The room that we did (Area 53) was SO COOL! I was amazed at the set quality and the intricacies of the puzzles. We had a lot of fun! We have a group of friends that we get together and do escape rooms and we have been to Bust Out Escape Room several times and actually both locations. And have always had a great time! The staff has always been very friendly and helpful, especially in the extra clues they give you On Saturday we did Escape Jumanji and ever who created and designed this room did a great job! The two guys at the front desk were very friendly and the guy that helped us with the clues did a great job, I wish I could remember his name to give hime credit. We actually escaped with 12 minutes to spare!! The facility is well maintained and very clean. I would highly recommend visiting Bust Out with a few friends and enjoy the experience! My first escape room adventure was on Black Friday and it was fun, challenging and engaging. Way better then shopping-yes, I said it. I believe it best to go with a good size group because you have many clues to get through and the team work really helps. Perfect for a work team building event. I am a tad claustrophobic which is why I had never gone before, but that kept me incentivized to work faster. We did use many clues that are available if you are ok as a team asking for help. This place is great! We have been here twice now, and both times were lots of fun. We have done the Mayan Temple and the Jumanji room. We completed them as a family (mom, dad, and two kids aged 10 and 8). My kids could never do these by themselves, but they still have fun learning how to find and solve the clues and how we have to work together. The rooms are clean and the clues are hard enough to be a challenge, but not too hard where you want to give up. It's been a great way to get out of the house when it's too hot or cold outside and to work together as a family while also having fun. We are a family that loves boardgames, so this is right up our alley. The ONLY thing I would say is that both times we've gone the woman at the front desk talks really really fast and it's hard to follow along. She's nice, but by talking so fast it can kind of give the impression that they're trying to rush you in. I thought it was just a fluke the first time, but it happened our second time too. But honestly, it's a great time. It can be pricey but it makes a great special outing, gift, or even something to do with people visiting from out of town read more

This was my first time doing an escape room and boy was I nervous. The woman at the front desk was super nice and knowledgeable. It was clear she knew a lot about escape rooms in ABQ and chatted a lot with my group, who had a lot more experience doing Escape Rooms than myself. We chose the Jumanji Escape Room. It was super fun, although it took me, an introvert, a while to get the hang of it. I was definitely glad I had more knowledgeable people in my group to show me the ropes. We barely finished the Escape Room before the time was up, but we did manage to complete it--with a couple of clue hints. I loved the variety of skills needed in the Jumanji game that required every member of the group to use their talents. There were also children with us and I could tell they were having a great time. When we were finished, we got a free mini cookie at the nearby Nestle store since we were able to finish the game. Definitely would like to return and try some of the other themes! read more

In a time when the omicron variant is driving covid case counts higher than they've been in nearly a year, including for children, and we still have an indoor mask mandate in this state, it was sure disappointing that when my husband called to ask Bust Out if employees there are masked, the person answering the phone said "Not all of them," and when he asked why, she said "Because it's our choice, and if you don't like it, there are three other escape rooms in town." I really enjoy doing escape rooms and have done a few in ABQ and elsewhere. This one was pretty good and the 5 of us had a fun time. Some puzzles were easy some were very hard and most were moderate. The staff was helpful and gave us a lot of help (which we appreciated). To be clear, we were asked in advance of entering the room how much (or how little) assistance we would want. We opted for more help than less. I know that sucks some of the air out of our victory sail for escaping the room but I don't care. We rocked it! read more

Definitely worth it. Very fun and high quality! We found this place after visiting a neighboring business. Our entire party was impressed with the high quality decorations and interaction. We completed the Jumanji room. The puzzle was enjoyably hard. The puzzle was solvable but not too easy leaving too much extra time. This is our favorite escape room so far! Their customer service is unexpectedly great. They were very accommodating and provided extra help when they saw us struggling with three kids to finish the room. This was our 8th time doing an escape room and we decided this will be our one and only in the future. Besides, the rooms were so realistic and had extra secret rooms. All of the equipment worked and was very well maintained. I've been to escape rooms where there were broken items that were detrimental in getting the next clue and the clue master paid no attention and had no idea we were struggling with a broken puzzle. This was not the case with bust out escape room. I would give them 10 out of 5 stars if I could. read more

I have a group of friends and weall love escape rooms. We have done almost all of the ones in Albuquerque (except for Escape the Room). I tend to prefer the theme of the escape room, where as others in my group prefer the puzzles, so I will talk about both components. I am putting reviews for both locations so it is easier to compare. Camp Cystal Lake (Theme 5/5, Puzzles 4/5): this was a great room. I am a big horror fan, so I loved the theme. There were parts that made me jump, which is great. The puzzles were pretty good, I would say average, except they had some interesting and unique components. Overall one of the best rooms if you are on with the horror theme. This room brings them from 3 to 4 stars by itself. Curse of the Mayan Temple (Theme 3/5, Puzzles 3/5): This room was ok. We enjoyed ourselves but there was little to make it stand out. There was one aspect that was really unique. There were a few times where one person was working on something and everyone else had nothing to do. Doomsday the Bunker (Theme 2/5, Puzzles 4/5): There were some fun puzzles and interesting props. There was a good variety of puzzle types and always something to work on so no one was left out. Dark Side of the Moon (Theme 3/5, Puzzles 1/5): We left frustrated with this room, and not because of the challenge of the puzzles. There was one puzzle that was just wrong. We were able to work around it, but it was still off putting. We tried to tell them when we left but they didn't seem to understand. Nothing else really stood out. There was always open puzzles so no one was left out. Da Vinci's Secret (Theme 2/5, Puzzles 3/5): I found this room to be somewhat boring. The story felt contrived. The puzzles were ok but forgettable. Christmas Chaos: We haven't done this one, so I cant review it. Overall I recommend the rooms here. They are solid, but I wish they would make another that can top Crystal Lake. read more

As soon as we walked in, we were immediately impressed by the high quality of the aesthetics in the establishment. The entrances to Area 53 and the Mayan Temple were well designed and well realized. We played the Mayan Temple room. The theme and aesthetics of the room and all of its puzzles were well-executed. We enjoyed the challenge and the way the story unfolded. We ended up doing all three of the rooms at this location when we were in town for the Balloon Fiesta because the rooms were so so much fun and the people are so kind.
