Best escape rooms in Albuquerque. I have loved all of their rooms. Only downside is waiting for new ones

We've been to many escape rooms around the Houston area and by far this was the best experience we've had at an escape room. We had Ashton as our "game master" they made the game fun for us all. The Camp Crystal Lake room is what we did very fun and very beginner friendly! Next time we're in New Mexico we will definitely be coming here again. read more

Pretty lame. A pet peeve regarding escape rooms is when the game master doesn't know what clue you're on so when you ask for a hint they go through items you've already done which wastes your hint & your time. Very disappointing. Unapologetic & unfriendly staff. read more

We recently tried out this escape room. We did the Camp Crystal Lake room. There were four of us (two adults and two children aged 11). The kids loved the room. Lots of jump scares and challenging for our group. The host helped us out with clues and we managed to escape with about a minute to spare. Great experience and already looking forward to trying another room. read more

The rooms are a bit on the small side, but there's quite a lot of content packed in each adventure, and the level of challenge seems just about right for both newcomers and veterans to be able to enjoy the rooms. My first time to an escape room and this one was challenging, yet a lot of fun. I never would've guessed this building was here. We chose the "Da Vinci" room, even though I had wanted to try "Camp Crystal Lake". We were paired off with 3 other couples that we didn't know, but the teamwork was great and it worked out. You could tell that a lot of thought and detail went into these rooms. We cracked it with minutes to spare. Prices weren't bad for an hour of entertainment. Oh well, that just means I have to try Camp Crystal Lake the next time ;) Would be great as a test for married couples or as a great icebreaker for an office. read more

We had a group of 10 first timers! It was fun. I would just advise not being so loud or you may miss a sound like we did. We wasted so much time and did not realize we had unlocked another riddle because we were too loud to hear it. Check into Facebook to get one free clue! Call to schedule an appointment; be ready to give them your card number to pay for at least two participants to reserve your group's spot! Arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment to use the restroom, sign waivers, pay, and go over instructions. Will most definitely come back! read more

I was nervous to do this because I wasn't sure my kids, ages 11 and 14, would enjoy it or it would be too difficult for them; I wasn't sure how our group would interact with other people we didn't know; and I wasn't sure if I'd feel claustrophobic or trapped. The kids enjoyed it, it was fun working with other people we didn't know, and I didn't feel trapped. We also escaped, which felt surprisingly good. It's well designed so that everyone can work on different aspects, and come together effectively. I particularly enjoyed when someone would have an Aha! moment. :) I would only do this once, however, and it would be a specific kind of thing to do, because it was close to $200 for our group. I felt actively bad that my sister paid that much for an hour's entertainment for us. At half the price, I would give it five stars. I understand that they may have to charge this much just to support themselves, by its nature it's got to have a lot of overhead and limited customers. read more

I've been scouring all the escape rooms in this city for the past 6 months and I cannot get enough of them. I went to this one with a group of 7 and chose Camp Crystal Lake. It was absolutely amazing! The puzzles were so clever and original, they were a blast. There was even a scare incident involved which I personally loved. We managed to escape with less than 5 minutes left. Afterwards we met with the owner/constructor of the establishment. He built all the mechanics himself. You could tell he really put his heart into it, and it showed. Overall I would really recommend this place. The rooms are very well put together and the staff is very attentive. I hear they are opening a Da Vinci styled room next and I know I will be one of the first in line for it. read more

Had an awesome time in the Christmas Chaos escape room. They know just how to keep it fun: adding valuable hints without penalties as needed to keep you going and having a great time. I had never done an escape room before and had a great time. We had 2 11 year olds with us and they were able to participate and absolutely loved it. We did the da Vinci's secret room and were able to successfully "BustOut". This was definitely a team effort and required everyone to communicate and work together. Our host was very helpful and even gave us a few extra minutes seeing how close we were to escaping. We loved it so much we are going back Sunday to do a different room (Dark side of the moon). We had sooooooo much fun here! It was our first time going as a family to an escape room and it was DEFINITELY worth it! There were 4 of us, and little did we know, we decided to choose the hardest room for our first time, and although we bombed a little, it was still so fun! The staff was extremely friendly and so, so helpful. I really can't recommend this place enough! If your debating wether or not you should go, just do it. Definitely worth the money. Even when you get the puzzles wrong, it's not discouraging at all. We will totally be going back soon! So many different rooms to choose from, and such a great experience. I have a group of friends and weall love escape rooms. We have done almost all of the ones in Albuquerque (except for Escape the Room). I tend to prefer the theme of the escape room, where as others in my group prefer the puzzles, so I will talk about both components. I am putting reviews for both locations so it is easier to compare. Camp Cystal Lake (Theme 5/5, Puzzles 4/5): this was a great room. I am a big horror fan, so I loved the theme. There were parts that made me jump, which is great. The puzzles were pretty good, I would say average, except they had some interesting and unique components. Overall one of the best rooms if you are on with the horror theme. This room brings them from 3 to 4 stars by itself. Curse of the Mayan Temple (Theme 3/5, Puzzles 3/5): This room was ok. We enjoyed ourselves but there was little to make it stand out. There was one aspect that was really unique. There were a few times where one person was working on something and everyone else had nothing to do. Doomsday the Bunker (Theme 2/5, Puzzles 4/5): There were some fun puzzles and interesting props. There was a good variety of puzzle types and always something to work on so no one was left out. Dark Side of the Moon (Theme 3/5, Puzzles 1/5): We left frustrated with this room, and not because of the challenge of the puzzles. There was one puzzle that was just wrong. We were able to work around it, but it was still off putting. We tried to tell them when we left but they didn't seem to understand. Nothing else really stood out. There was always open puzzles so no one was left out. Da Vinci's Secret (Theme 2/5, Puzzles 3/5): I found this room to be somewhat boring. The story felt contrived. The puzzles were ok but forgettable. Christmas Chaos: We haven't done this one, so I cant review it. Overall I recommend the rooms here. They are solid, but I wish they would make another that can top Crystal Lake. read more

We've done two escape rooms here and one at another company. These are the most elaborate and exciting. Crystal lake was a really difficult room, and Da Vinci we needed clues, but wasn't as hard. Both were really fun, really high quality rooms. The family that owns it is great and really helpful. Whoever does the clues for these rooms is also a bit more clear than the other company we've done a room at. With two more rooms in the works, our whole group will definitely be going back! (maybe after more practice, but they've also been flexible with time. The first room we did, we went over about ten minutes and they let us finish it even though we needed a billion clues). read more

During winterbreak myself and six family members did the Davinci room. Our ages ranged from 7-62. We all had a blast. Everyone was able to help and we all stayed busy. Made for lots of great conversation after as well. The best part is we suceeded with 3 minutes to spare. read more

I've been to a few of these escape rooms, and loved every one of them. Each one presents new challenges and I love solving puzzles. We did the Da Vinci's secret room. It was our youngest daughter's first time and she was a bit unsure about it at first. I would be too if I was a little person trapped in a dark room with locks all over the place, a large weird drawing of a naked man with four arms and four legs on the wall (Da Vinci's Proportions of the human figure) and intense music. My wife brought her out of the room - and the hostess went above and beyond to show her how the room works from the video screen, and made her our secret messenger to deliver clues and help us solve the puzzles. She came back in after a few minutes and loved it. When everyone, from parents to 8 year olds, can have fun, feel included, successful and leave with a sense of pride and accomplishment, it's a big win!! Definitely recommend this place!! read more

This a great, family-owned establishment! We have done two of their rooms - once with friends and once with extended family. It's great to do with your kids, too - who are often the FASTEST puzzle solvers in the room because of their keen eyes and open minds. We had a blast both times and highly recommend this place. Bust out escape will exhilarate your heart as you bust out with laughs and maybe even screams. My partner and I were looking for an escape adventure one afternoon, and we were impressed by the nice customer service from Tyler off the bat. We signed up to do the Camp Crystal Lake with only 2 people and we sure were in for a momentum-building treat. Everything from the ambiance to the puzzles in this room were fabulous. I will refrain from any spoilers, but be prepared to cast your net wide for this challenging escape. We loved it so much that we booked back-to-back rooms for the Doomsday Escape. This new room is technologically advanced and forces you to keep track of many moving parts as you attempt this rescue mission. We were equally blown away by this room, and I give my highest recommendation for Bust Out Escape (formerly ABQ Xcape Room). My partner was on fire, and we successfully broke out with 10 and 5 minutes left respectively. I have done over 50 rooms around the world, and these were both top-tier designs that are worth the time and price (not to mention, a kind customer-oriented business). Get ready for one of the best hours in New Mexico! read more
