This shop proves there's still honest and genuine people in Santa Monica. I felt I needed to leave a review to praise the customer service even if I couldn't get my boots repaired. I brought my Dr Marten platform boots in to be looked at/ repaired and Robert very carefully explained to me what was wrong with my shoes and told me to contact Dr Marten because "this shouldn't be happening" to my shoes. He could've done a shoddy repair to get my money and me out the door but he took the time to explain why he couldn't do that. He made sure I left understanding exactly what was wrong with my boots and gave me some tips on how to make them last a little longer. I had no idea Buster's has been around for 30 years! When my other shoe repair closed, I didn't think to look around. Robert the owner is a genius..took a pair of beloved Belgian Shoes there....I thought they were done for. Robert fixed them up so they look better than new....and that was 30 years ago. dropped of a pair of suede tounged leather sneakers. I asked for a full clean and he only cleaned the suede part and charged me 55 dollars cash only. the rest of the shoe was not touched and he left the laces out without cleaning them. after expressing my dissatisfaction he still charged me full price. bummed. read more

They were grea,t they completely saved a handful of boots I had that had gotten mildew and needed a ton of work.

I have been to see Robert a few times over the years and his work (and passion for his work) is unmatched. Not only can he repair old shoes to look essentially like new, but he also improves new shoes. From here out, before I wear any designer shoe, I am going to take them to Robert to have the soles reinforced, and for heels, have him add cushioning to the footbed (which he does under the insole lining so it doesn't ruin the aesthetic of the shoe!). Couldn't recommend Robert and his work any more!!! I also found out that he re-lines jackets, which is a service I plan to use soon. read more

So I had an old pair of shoes from years ago that aren't sold anymore. The top looks super good but the bottoms were pretty worn out so I was considering throwing them away when I happened to walk past this shop one day. I asked him if he could swap the bottom from another similar pair of shoes. It was difficult but he was able to make them look like they're brand new. OMG... miracles are performed here!!! My favorite pair of winter snow boots were utterly trashed and falling apart at every seam. Thought they might be beyond repair but just got them back and they are like new! My favorite pair of cowboy boots - also shredding at the seams - likewise got a new lease on life recently. Honestly 10/10 experience, he repaired two pairs of boots that I've been wanting fixed because that are so unique and well made and on the one pair he even gave me a little lift and made both pairs so sturdy, definitely worth it.
