. I bought a pair of vintage boots that were from the 90s and the entire platform had to be replaced. The first shop I brought my boots to (located on Westwood blvd right next to my house) told me it could not be fixed. Not wanting to take no for an answer I found this shop on yelp and after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. Giovanni was very friendly and kind. Not only he told me that yes it can be repaired, I can tell he knows what he is talking about. He is also very fair about the price. Yes it was a lot more than what I expected to spend, after breaking down the cost it made sense to me why it had to be that cost. I recently purchased 3 pairs of boots from Easy Spirit online. I have a hard to fit foot and I need a squared off toe box. These boots were a great clearance price. They look good and the fit is perfection, but... The soles are paper thin and I knew that I wouldn't be comfortable walking very far in them, plus they would wear out fast. I remembered that there was a shoemaker/repair shop close to Darya (a favorite restaurant) so I gave them a call for a price estimate on new soles. I should have known, that there is no way to give out a price for any service unless the artisan can see what they are deaing with. I brought my boots in last Saturday and I showed the gentleman my boots. I explained that I would like at least 1/2 " rubber soles added for comfort and longevity. I was shown the actual black rubber that is used and I agreed that that would work well for me. I was told that my boots would be ready in 1 week, and I paid $65 for each pair of new soles (including heels, of course.) I called 1 day shy of the due date and was told that they were ready, so I picked them up after doing nails on Friday. They are done to perfection! Each boot now has a lovely new, supportive sole with a pretty pattern added to the bottom for aesthestics and traction. Money extremely well spent! read more

I brought in my favorite pair of ankle booties (half white leather/ half white suede) for some TLC and I could not be happier with the results! I should have taken a before picture. The soles were almost worn through, the leather on the back of both heels was torn, one of the heel tips had broken off, and the suede side had some black marks that I was afraid to try to take out myself. Starters - Gentleman running the shop was very kind over the phone and in person. He was also accommodating time-wise. The rest as it goes - I had two pairs of older patent leather nude heels that needed new plastic heel tips. I had a semi-tight turn around because I was leaving for a wedding the following week. I dropped them off on a Saturday at 2:00 pm and picked them up the following Monday at 3:30pm. I was charged $30 for 4 small heel tip replacements. I wasn't expecting anything more than the bare minimum but I got less than that. The tips are not aligned with the heels themselves and there are gaps between the tip and heel. There was also no attempt to remove scuffs or glue down heel flaps. I've always used cobblers to repair shoes and these things are basic care when having shoes worked on. I'm not impressed for the price tag for 4 plastic, ill-fitting tips. I won't be back. read more

The best shoe repair in town. I use to go to a shoe repair on Montana Ave in Santa Monica until I realized my shoe soles were wearing out so quickly. The Montana store was purposely using the wrong material so my shoes would wear out quickly and I'd be back in for more repairs. Eagle Shop is honest, excellent, and reasonably priced. I needed my heels replaced and soles redone. They charge $35. A place on Wilshire in Santa Monica quoted $89!!!! They are worth the drive!!! read more

Eagle Shoe Shop, a local, family-owned small business, has been my husband's go-to for years for highly skilled, restoration/repair and maintenance of his prized Italian made shoes. So when I needed two additional holes punched in my newly acquired thrift shop belt, he brought me here not only to get my belt adjusted but also to catch up with his artisan friends. My belt was quickly marked then finished while we waited and WOW, no charge! Did I get preferential treatment because my guy and the Eagle Shoe Shop guys go way back? Maybe? Maybe not, as it's little bits of good will building service like this that pay off not necessarily immediately but in the long run, a big or small business mantra, model, ethic to live, to work by. My suede pumps were scuffed up around the heel and I needed my heel taps replaced. The older man (Giovani?) charged me $26 after convincing me to replace the soles as well. Two days later they were ready for pick-up and I am SO glad I took his advice! They added a nice thick layer of rubber to the soles and heels of the shoes, and spent a good 5-10 minutes explaining to me the benefits of the rubber soling. In response to the scuffed up suede, he did say they could actually fix up the heel by wrapping it in leather, which is much lower-maintenance than soft suede. I'm giving this place 4 stars because they were affordable, friendly, prompt, and most importantly, skilled and knowledgable. I only wish they had advised on the leather heel beforehand. Who really uses cobblers these days? Well, I do, on occasion... and why? Cause sometimes shoes shouldn't be thrown away... they should be repaired. You know, that comfy pair of nice dress shoes or perhaps a pair of work boots that can be made new again. It sure does cost less than a pair of new shoes... and just a bit of dough and some new insoles, and you're good to go! So, I went recently cause one of my lovely gatos yaked on my new brown Cole Haans. Little bitches... I love 'em. The shoes, I mean. The cats too... There was a crazy ass stomach acid stain after I tried cleaning them off. So Mr. Cobbler man was able to redye my shoes and now they look AWESOME!!! Also, he cleaned up a pair of steel toe/steel shank work boots for me after 72 hours of abuse... AWESOME job... AWESOME price... THANKS!!!! read more

I brought my beloved sneakers at this location to get cleaned. I was charged $12 and when I came to pick them up a few days later, the shoes were not cleaned thoroughly. When I asked the older man (he has glasses and is short) why my shoes weren't cleaned thoroughly, he said "If you want it cleaned thoroughly, you have to pay more." WTF??? What a poor excuse for a business owner. Let me get this straight, you did a piss poor half cleaning job on my shoes because you said "I HAVE TO PAY MORE??" I paid what I was charge silly old man. My dog ate an entire heel off a brand new pair of shoes after I only got to wear them once. She also ate the insole and half of the sole (by "ate" I really mean tore in to 2394872 pieces all over my house). Anyways, this place is right across the street from my house so I brought them over. The guy working asked how soon I needed them. I said 2 days. DONE. He replaced the whole heel (and these are tall heels....4 inches), added new insoles to both shoes, fixed the bottom sole of the torn one (doesn't look absolutely perfect but nothing anyone would notice while I'm wearing them), and shined them for $40! I didn't shop around so maybe it could be less somewhere else, but $40 is way less than a new pair of shoes. To sum up, great small business. Very friendly. Go here. read more

They suck. I would rather have lit ten dollars on fire. I paid UPFRONT for a repair and was told by the son to pick it up MOnday it'd be ready. Come monday the old guy was there (the dad) he had no clue. Gave me the bag THAT HAD NOT BEEN repaired and when i said, SOrry NO, this has not been fixed, he told me "lfie is too short" I said HEY I PAID FOR THIS I want it repaired. Went back the next day, HALF of the repair was done, the old guy said "This is all my son said he'd do" I said NO HE IS SUPPOSED TO FIX THE WHOLE THING. The dry cleaners I use in Manhattan Beach sends out their customers' shoes for repair to Eagle Shoe Shop. Upon request they will call you with an estimate before they begin the work. They have repaired the lifts on my short black leather boots (they look brand new) and did a major refurbishing of a pair of Merrell sandals that are several years old but so comfortable that I cannot imagine parting with them, ever. Cost was less than a new pair and the work was done very fast. The boots were dropped off Monday and I had them back 2 days later. The sandals took a little longer but they needed more work. read more

The man is always nice when I go to drop off my shoes, usually to replace that heel thing. They usually charge me $7 each. I guess you get a small discount if you bring several pairs. They did a good job stretching my leather boots (to fit my big calves) and charged ~$20. The place is cool as it is what you'd expect a shoe repair place to look like and smell like - it hasn't been changed in like 30 years. Squeaky Rockport dress casual shoes. Tried all the usual homemade fixes but still a loud annoying squeak with every step. The owner of the shop Giovanni and his son are familiar with this problem. Seems Rockports are having this issue more frequently lately. Both gentlemen were polite and personable. Giovanni explained the cause of the squeak: a bar in the shoe's instep which breaks. He showed me a sample of this bar on another shoe. Seems Rockport is using a plastic bar instead of metal these days on some of their shoes. I asked for the replacement of the bar on both shoes (he uses metal) and to resole the shoes. Very reasonable price, ready the following week (I was in no hurry) and the work was absolutely stellar. Looked brand new. They do very good work. Impressed me as a shoe repair place where they take pride in their work. Very satisfied and will be a return customer. read more

I have used shoe repair shops all over the Westside with mixed results until I got to Gio's. Souls and heels on my wife's pumps were done very well and affordably. They are always willing to fix to my satisfaction. However, I brought them a vintage pair of Bruno Mali leather half-boots that I bought in Italy years ago. The souls were shot and needed to be built new from the upper shoe. I was ready to throw them away. Not only did they do a terrific job, they updated the boots so that the soul style is now current. This is a $1000 pair of boots with a new life that I probably couldn't buy today. These are more than "shoe repair guys." These are craftsman! read more
