Consistent food. Friendly staff. Good prices

We are from out of town and ordered right before closing so maybe that has something to do with it but we were very surprised with how little we got for how much we paid. Four of us ordered the sandwich and side combo deal. The sandwiches were plain...only bun and meat. The sides were also small, the mac and cheese was bland but my buddy says the potato salad was very good. I was also expecting the meat to be drenched or at least prepared with sauce but the meat was plain with the sauce on the side. My brisket was ok tasting. Very good ribs and brisket. Good deep smoke, rub is top notch. Other meats are so-so. Good sauce. I mix sweet with a touch of hot. Pretty good sides. Beans, fries, green salad are good. Not the greatest potato salad, but adequate. Also very good clam chowder on Fridays. I have had exceptional BBQ in Kansas City which is why I'm critical. But I also know that Texas and Kansas BBQ are different. In the top 5 for Portland though. Grade B read more

I REALLY like this place. Not a lot of sauce selection, but the meet and sides are really good. Very high quality for reasonable prices. If my wife weren't a vegetarian, we'd probably eat there more- they don't have any decent vegetarian options, though...hence 4 stars instead of 5. read more

Buster's has a nice atmosphere, good food and good service. My husband and I both got the lite plate with brisket and s side. They gave us a big portion of brisket which was tender and moist. I ordered the potato salad which was good. My husband got the pinto beans which he didn't care for but on their defense he did add BBQ sa use to them before he tasted them and he said they tasted like they had vinegar. I had the 2 meat combo of pork ribs and spicy sausage. Also mash potatoes and a salad. The ribs were great with lots of flavor and so was the sausage. The rib cuts were thick and juicy. The mash potatoes tasted of real potatoes however the gravy was instant. The salad was cold and the salad bar was adequate with other veggies. I liked the chipotle Bbq sauce since I am not a fan of tomato based sauces. Having said that the meat was fine as is and did not need any sauce. The only issue I had was the rib portions. I got two ribs and I felt like 3 would have been better as most bbq rib places give you at least that much on a combo plate. I will come back again for a full rib plate. I typically don't get brisket at places like this as it is hit miss on the dryness as evident by complaints I read about this place. read more

Disgusting. This place does not even deserve a one star rating. The staff were not helpful. The food was over cooked dried out and bland. After we were at the end of the line to pay, we stood and waited for the cashier for over 5 minutes. With nobody in sight I had to hunt somebody down to pay. They woman I found was not very happy about it, but took our money. My wife got the brisket with a green salad and a baked potato. I asked where the salad and potato bar was so she can get dressing and fix her potato. She was directed around the corner. I sat down with the kids. A few minutes later my wife returned with a super disappointed look on her face. I observed she just a slice of butter in the potato. "Where's the toppings?" I said. She said "They don't have any." I went up to the salad bar and looked. There were little prepackaged butters, and a almost empty container of sour cream. So I went to the counter and told them the sour cream was basically gone and asked if they had any other potato fixings like cheese, bacon bits, green onions, or chives? The man I spoke to said "No", and that if I wanted shredded cheese it would be an additional .75 cents. He didn't even address the chives, green onion, or bacon that I asked about..... With the potato experience aside, there were many other concerns about the food. They put a piece of buttered bread on top of your meat portion that resembles a wet soggy pancake, gross. My wife's brisket was dry and tough. Her potato was just plain with butter due to lack of toppings. She said the green salad was the best part because the lettuce was actually fresh. My pork ribs were dry and actually crunched when I chewed the meat. Not a good crunch, but like a pork rind crunch. Halfway through they got better, but not much. My baked beans were alright, but slightly too twangy. The macaroni and cheese was atrocious. I could go on for days about this horrible experience but I will spare you anymore details. By the time we decided our meal was finished, I arrived back to the car with a stomach ache. Steer clear of this place. read more

The food was extremely bland and tasteless, the BBQ chicken was so dry it was inedible, and the the beans and BBQ sauce were both extremely watery. The sampler platter seemed like an afterthought with both the portion size (the chicken strips were barely bigger than my finger) and how tasteless the food was. I am never ordering from this place again. You can get better mac and cheese from a Stouffer's box. We ordered from here on UberEATS. Love using UberEATS, but this place is a HUGE miss. read more

Far and away this place has provided me with the worst restaurant experience ever. I ordered an appetizer and my girlfriend ordered the brisket, beans and mashed potatoes. Shortly after beginning our meal she started talking to me about her food tasted like chemicals. I tasted her dish and it was saturated in lighter fluid. Despite trying to wash my mouth out with water and other foods the foul taste persists and she started feeling ill. She decided to eat her beans instead but they were soaked in the junk as well since they use the drippings from the beef brisket to make them. The waiter gave provided a flimsy excuse about how cooking with lighter fluid can sometimes add a flavor but the liquid permeated throughout to probably toxic levels. The waitstaff gave us another dish but they still were unwilling to try their own food off the line and they continued to serve the tainted dish. Overall this is a place that places its bottom line above its scruples and I will not be patronizing them in the future. read more

Told servers it's our first time there, they argued about who should explain how to order to us, Fail. The beef brisket was dryer than cardboard. The beef ribs were just that. Sides Mac n Chz, cole slaw, beans are far worse than a Safeway deli. It was way OVERPRICED. In short, this is a fast-food bbq joint with big prices that fail to deliver. I had never been to this BBQ place before and for the price and the atmosphere and the level of service you get I will not be returning. The food is good don't get me wrong but for the portions and the prices it might be a bit outside what I'm willing to pay. The lack of table service and the fact that most of their food tastes canned or pre-made was my biggest question the meat is excellent but the portions are less than i expected. Because of my infinite love for BBQ, I have tried many BBQ places in my lifetime. Buster's seriously dropped the ball on this one for me. I ordered their brisket and it was sooo dry I had to drown it in with their BBQ sauce, which literally tasted like something I could buy at Safeway right next to them. However, I'm all about second chances (just with food), so I went here a second time. Result? the same. Dry brisket and a poor excuse of a BBQ sauce to cover it up. Buster's in Gresham seriously dropped the ball on this one we had them catering my daughter's wedding this is what some of my guests told me about their dinner on spet 24th 2016 Very dry Beef Brisket with lots of hard end pieces and tough and Pulled Pork so thin and very mushy and corn on the cob was tough and fresh fruit tasted like it was made 3 days prior awful and garlic TST bread very little butter and hardly toasted and the Beans no good like out of a can . This was only some of the remarks from the guests... I'm so very embarrassed for me and my family would like to say I don't want any money back from busters they did show up on time and they did have to stand round waiting for 45min to start serving but they did serve on time at 6:00pm ...I would like to hear from more guests or anyone one who has eat at busters in Gresham and you can also go to YELP and your 1 to 5 star rating I know we will never have them catering any more of are parties read more

well i have been eating here off an on through out the years it was deffinitly better back in the 1990s the Gresham Busters location for some reason seems to be the worst location of all i mean the Brisket is always dry an Tuff or they hire meat cutters who just dont put the effort into cutting an are obviously not thoroughly Trained to cut the meat you desire Tuff dry barbecue beef brisket at this location does not go over well with me im through with this location once an for all i have givin them too many chances to clean up there act an im tired of wasting money on Tuff dried out Meat common Guys read more

Just moved to the neighborhood and with too many boxes still waiting to be unpacked, I decided to take myself to dinner. I had passed Buster's a few times when I was out running errands and such, so I went there with a beef brisket sandwich in mind, which is in fact, what I ordered. I had the green beans as my side. I will say the brisket sandwich was pretty good - not amazing, but not bad either. It did taste like brisket and it only had a few tiny pieces of unnecessary fat in it. There were 3 choices of sauce so I mixed two together. The beans seemed more like the straight-out-of-can type; pale green and flavorless. If I'm hungry for beef brisket again and I don't find a better place in the meantime, I would probably go back, but I'll get take out next time. They have speakers everywhere playing the most awful Nashville pop (or pap) with every singer sounding like Tim McGraw and or a Tim McGraw wannabe. I didn't realize it was playing until I sat down with my food, otherwise I would have ordered to-go in the first place. I lived n Texas for two years and Nashville for three, so every now and then I've just got to find some good beef brisket or pulled pork. read more
