First time coming here. Lots of parking in the front and back area. A water trough is in the front of the restaurant. Came in and there is a gift shop and an area where they sell baked goods. Very big restaurant. There is even a separate banquet area for a private celebration. Ordered my French toast. Light and sweet. The restaurant staff and servers are in German uniforms. Had dinner here tonight. The service was outstanding!. One of the servers was being trained, and the two of them were super kind, and efficient. I ordered the cod fish fillet for dinner. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy as well as chicken and dumpling soup. I also had with a cornbread biscuit. The fish fillet mashed potatoes and gravy were very very bland. No flavor to any of it. The presentation was nice and the fish was flaky, but really no flavor to speak of. The cornbread muffin was so crumbly. You could not cut it open to put butter in it. It just fell apart. I had to eat it with my fork off of my plate. My wife had a patty melt and fries. She said it was nice, but nothing special. The fries all were delicious. My father-in-law had chicken fried steak and he seemed to like it just fine. The atmosphere is old school and seems pretty tame and quiet for the most part. Tonight they were only four other tables that had people seated and it still took 45 minutes to get our food. I think the Cook was a little behind with what little people were there. I would stop in again just for the atmosphere and the gift shop, but would not come here for the food. I've been here a dozen times and the quality of the food is hit and miss. read more

We visited on a Sunday and sat in the bar. The bar offers slot machines, drink specials and friendly staff. We tried the cheese fondue. The cheese was amazing and the brown bread tasty. The sourdough was a bit dry. The pork schnitzel had a nice crust on it and came on a bed of cabbage. There was tooo much gravy on the entire dish. I scraped what I could off and went with that amount. Each element was tasty and enough for two people or in my case three meals. I had read in one of the reviews that being a German restaurant there weren't enough German dishes on the menu, but I found several on the menu and my dish today was very good. This is a delicious stop for dishes on the European slant, in addition to mainstay diner dishes. Beautiful waterwheel and flower displays. I love how the servers are in dirndle outfits. They also have a gift shop. Lots of parking. Large servings. I got the beef Stroganoff and it was special. It had the twang in the creamy, beautiful sauce. The meat chunks and mushrooms were super soft and tasty. The buttered noodles were perfectly cooked and actually grabbed the creamy sauce. To start, I've always liked eating at Heidi's. The prime rib is great. The eggs Benedict and Club Sandwich are my go-to's after fasting as a treat. I've had the wings before and enjoyed them. Breaded, fried fall-off-the-bone goodness but the order I placed tonight was inedible. The batter could have done with 75% less salt. I didn't know if it was from the batter or the sauce until I tried each separately but it was definitely the batter. I'm glad I also ordered the Mac & cheese because after 2 wings, I had to throw the rest away and the Mac & cheese offset the previous sodium bomb. I have been to this place a lot. This visit was extra special simply because of our sweet waitress Vanssa. I totally enjoyed her service. She is an incredibly talented waitress and she is so kind. Her jokes were hilarious and her service was so quick. She was incredibly kind to my sister who tends to be nervous to order. She brought my brother chocolate milk as soon as he ran out and we never had to ask her to grab something twice. She is very good at her job. She 100% made our visit memorable. read more

Our funeral reception was exceptional. We were very impressed. The staff was kind and accommodating. Everyone there voiced how impressed they were with the buffet. Accommodated, special requests and packed up all the left overs. We highly recommend and appreciate them. read more

You know, I drive by this place four times a day probably... Eating their handful of times over the years but a lot of times it was based off of who I was hanging out with they wanted to give it a try. Not saying anything bad, but it is a bit expensive and definitely quite time-consuming to go here often. One of these places I'm surprised I haven't reviewed yet. Probably the assumption that I reviewed it many years ago being that I've spent a lot of time on Yelp in the past 10 years. I went to try and see if I could see a photo of this chicken cordon blue burger... That I saw advertised on their signage. So I didn't leave a review and thought that's just awful. This place is cute absolutely cute. It's got a great gift shop. Great staff people are super friendly and everything is themed up. We go to multiple October fast each year and I can tell you one thing is that the food here is better than half of the places I've eaten at Mount Angel and half of the places I've eaten at Leavenworth. Things are good here they're fresh, but they are a bit on the expensive side and it doesn't quite have that massive plate diner fee that you might expect from the outside. My side salad had a big horse fly peeking in n out of lettuce. Gross! The formerly good sized n tender prime rib, is half the size n tough as nails. U can't get " medium". I love Heidi's and come at least once every week. Today I'm working a double on my job so I ordered food and picked it up specifically asked for real butter. I don't eat margarine. they gave me margarine anyway I had to go all the way back up to Heidi's and ask for Real butter. The lady at the counter said that's real butter, I explained it is not real butter. You have real butter in pack. Once she realized I knew what I was talking about she went and got real butter for me. The lady kept telling me I did have real butter, I told her the real butter comes in packs. This restaurant is filled with seniors and folks who like to eat. The portions are generous, the food is fresh, the preparation consistent. And that seems to be good enough for this crowd. It's such a cute restaurant. We popped in on a Saturday for brunch. They were fairly busy, but we were sat tight away. The service was really good. A few different people checked in on us. We ordered chocolate chip pancakes and the Swedish pancakes. The chocolate chip pancakes were so fluffy, and they were huge! The whipped cream tasted like it was made in house and was delicious. The Swedish pancakes came with a sauce over the top of them, but it was SO MUCH SAUCE. It really drowned the pancakes. This also came with bacon, and the bacon wasn't crispy. It was rather limp. Our waiter was very nice to us, at the end, I told him: I can't believe you guys are getting 3.5 review ratings, I'll do an update and give you 4 stars! I do love an old school diner. Heidi's has the character and the vibe of an old school diner. It's great. Everyone was super friendly, good came quickly, reasonable prices too. I got the German sausage omelette and added some green peppers. It needed the breen peppers for some texture and freshness but the German sausage was amazing and super flavorful. Great wurst. The hash browns were pretty average though as they were not super flavorful and a bit mushy - they just needed to be flipped and crisped up. This place was a great last minute find while we were in town visiting family. We went for breakfast on a Friday morning. Service was quick and very friendly. The interior is really cool and lots of things to look at. Coffee was great and so was our food. I splurged and got the fresh crab omelet with hashbrowns and a muffin. It was so worth it! Lots of delicious Dungeness crab. I always order hashbrowns extra crispy and usually don't have much luck with the request (so it usually saves me on some carbs). These hashbrowns were perfectly crispy and just how I like them. Hubby got the chicken fried steak with hashbrowns and a blueberry muffin. He literally cleaned his plate. I am traveling so I used Yelp to find something good in the area. Yelpers led me to Heidi's. Good choice guys! This place is awesome. Lots of old school dishes. Liver and onions (don't judge), cabbage rolls and some swedish meatballs. I went for the cabbage rolls ( don't worry, going back Thursday for the above mentioned liver and onions). These things were so good. Lots of meat and the tomato puree was on point. For the side...TATER TOTS!!! Now when I rate a place, they get a bonus star for tater tots. The staff was friendly but I did feel bad because they had to wear swiss maidens dresses. If you're not driving, order a jolly rancher. Tasty. read more

Excellent customer service! It almost got to the point where I wanted to tell her to give us another 10 minutes before checking in on us again, but I loved the attentiveness! We ordered two dishes, I got the Swedish pancakes with huckleberry jam on it. It wasn't bad but it was much egg-ier than what I am used to. It felt more like a sweet omelette than a pancake. Waiting for warmed up pie again. It came 15 minutes later, nuked and melted. Husband was finished with his cold pie. No one likes to eat after everyone else is done. Assume this place is very understaffed (on a Friday night) as the wait to take our order, and the wait for the food was far too long. They have regulars, maybe they know what to order. At the beginning of this transaction, I thought it was not going to go well. But I'm here to say Heidi's stepped up to the plate in every way and I just am so impressed, that is why this review will be lengthy. Let me set this up: I called in a Togo order and ordered two entrees, a chef salad and the fried chicken, the salad looked fabulous, the dressing was watered down, the chicken was on the burnt side and the fries were limp. I got home and realized this was not going to fly. I called and spoke to the manager, she readily made good not only on the chicken but the salad as well, and then comped the whole meal. And the replacement food was fabulous, it once again reminded me why we bring all of our out of towners here to enjoy a great meal. I want to say Thank You so much. The theme is German... but not all the food is German. I have liked this place in the past. The food is pretty ok and i've enjoyed my time and visits in the past that's the only reason they're getting two stars. The fondue is pretty good... it's $12... most meals are near $20 and the bill for us going is often nearing $100 (for three of us)... it's not an affordable place but the meals have been decent. The place is seriously dated though. I like dives but this is just a thematic restaurant with a very worn and dated interior. Think cracks in the booth vinyl etc... but it was character to a degree. When speaking to our server once I asked about her outfit because it was so cute... and the colors were attractive. She explained to me she had to buy it herself custom made so it was a Christmas present to herself. I was astounded because it's definitely a German themed outfit that is consistent and clearly required to be worn by servers. It's a uniform and she had to pay for it? This most recent visit they kinda lost me for the future because of the customer service... I have recently had surgery and cannot eat more than about a cup of food.. I asked to see the kid's menu. I have ordered off it before because I can only eat a tiny portion now... Unequivocally the server this time said I could not even see the children's menu. I asked to speak to the manager and she said the manager wouldn't allow it me to order from it either. I said well this situation will impact whether I want to come here in the future. So I asked to speak to the manager again. She said well ok. The manager came to the table and said I heard you have a few questions... I said I have asked to see the children's menu and she said no sorry it's just for those 12 and under. I explained my medical condition and the limitation I have. Without hesitation or pause she said sorry I won't be able to show you the menu its only for 12 and under. She asked if that was all and then left. It was very clear she came to the table with an answer prepared and did not care a bit about the situation. The server came back to take orders. My parents wanted to leave right then but my dad really wanted the liver and onions and I wanted him to have it and it's not a very common option... so I made sure they ordered and when it came to my turn I ordered nothing. Literally the server said "that's perfect i will get it started for you." Customer service has typically been good here but the response this time is shocking to be honest and it will absolutely impact my decision to ever return. If I were ordering to go I could easily get a kids meal... additionally I've been able to order off it in the past... and really it's just basic customer service.... let's be logical. How much of a loss in $$ is it to have one person order (wait even LOOK at a children's menu) when the other two at the table are ordering $20 meals? Note: I have a medical card that verifies I had the surgery I had... and additionally sometimes I have ordered full meal and then take home leftovers because a regular meal is like 3 for me... but now I'm leaving town and cannot have leftovers so it would be a complete waste of food and $. It's not that I won't pay a full price meal sometimes... as I said I actually do. What rubbed me wrong is the customer service and them being completely ok without hesitation to not even consider the circumstances. If they had given some empathy and said I'm sorry we just aren't allowed to do that or even any conversation it would have been better. Customer service is so lacking now in this world and this is just another example. I'm sure this review won't matter. They're busy so they probably don't care... but I will continue to share my experience. read more
