Have driven by a few times and decided to drop into Glebe Tramsheds for late brekky. All the shops are new and appeals with an industrial feel. Took a quick lap before deciding on Butcher & the Farmer. Waitress was friendly and took our coffee orders. Flat white and a long black on ice. Then we ordered meals from a man (manager/owner) who did not look like he wanted to be there. In fact it looked as though he was stressing out the rest of the staff.
Anyway, big breakfast for me, with bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, potato, poached eggs on rye. All good.
My wife wanted the same and asked what was gluten free and he said half would have to be excluded. Fair enough, what can they be replaced with? Bacon, mushroom, spinach? The answer... Nothing! They will remove items but will not change items on the menu. So pay full price for half a meal.
I would understand if they were busy and could not arrange it but we were one of four tables at the time with three others wait staff walking around.
So following his recommendation, ordered individual items. A piece of thick bacon, two eggs and mushrooms - $20. I know it's not a lot but still felt they did not care. Certainly did not feel welcomed.
My standard breakfast and coffee was good!
I would eat here again but may be avoid the grumpy dude. read more
