The chain seems to have shrunk in the last four or five years, and spotting the open window on the Royal Hibernian Way was a delightful surprise. At last, those little almond-topped nougat squares draped in rich white chocolate can be mine. The hours are a bit funny though and it's not the cheery, luxe experience that competitor Butler's has going; but sometimes there's nothing sweeter than Leonidas... and being right.

I met the owner, a Belgian lady called Inge, who recently opened the shop with her Irish partner Declan. She was really lovely, she told me all about how she came from Belgium to open a Belgian chocolate shop in Dublin after falling in love with an Irish man. Very warm, welcoming friendly service and possible the best chocolate you'll ever taste!

It's an English company, and there stores have slowly started dotting around Dublin and beyond. I like their chocolate, but I have to say, I think it's a poor man's Butlers. Controversial! I just think everything is just so packaged and thrown out there - there's not a whole lot of luxury attached to the brand. However, I do like their Easter eggs, especially the way you can have them personalised by having the person's name written on them in white chocolate.
