We came here hoping to grab a late lunch around 3pm. The space is somewhat small, you enter there are some small tables and a counter with baked items sitting out on display. We sat down, received full service menus, and put in an order for a sandwich and a few other lunch items. The server returned a while later and told us lunch was no longer available and the kitchen was closed (this is not mentioned on the menu). While I understand that this is a bit later in the day, it was frustrating that this was not communicated up front, and we could have went somewhere else instead. We ordered some bakery items instead, some that would be a bit more substantial including a sausage roll and a ham and cheese croissant. Another server approached our table and informed us that 2 of the 3 items we ordered were sold out. At this point I was pretty angry and felt like this was sort of a waste of time. We ended up ordering a slice of cake and a scone with tea and coffee and I immediately asked for the check. I was really looking forward to this place because it was recommended by a friend. And the bakery items were delicious. But the service was frustrating and there needs to be better communication with the kitchen closing. If you come here I would recommend coming earlier in the day, because I guess they run out of items. And I don't know when the kitchen closes (this wasn't listed anywhere) but I would call ahead to make sure you can actually order off the lunch menu.

wonderful! Absolutely wonderful. Fresh. Quality ingredients. The eggs and fennel scone was memorable. The owner stopped and chatted with my sister and I, and shared her 7 year journey in NY with us and made our presence feel important and homelike. We're from the States too. Yummy mochas too!
Queen of Tarts, you stole our hearts! My wife and I came here for dessert, were lucky enough to get the last table on a busy Sunday afternoon, and proceeded to have one of the best carrot cakes we've had in awhile. The cake was moist and had a good strong carrot flavour, the cream was rich and generous, and the whole thing was topped with flecks of pistachio that added a different taste and nicely cut through the sweetness. This was a definite hit and we highly recommend this to anyone who likes carrot cake (or cake in general). We also got Baileys coffee and Baileys hot chocolate. Both had great amounts of Baileys in them (no scrimping here), and there was a very generous dollop of thick cream in the hot chocolate that just took it to another level. Would definitely recommend both drinks, though note they can only be served after 12:30. Overall, Queen of Tarts is a must-try if you're in the area (Cows Lane or Cork Hill). I can't wait to try more of their treats next time I'm in Dublin.
Delectable treats to fill and feed anyone sweet tooth. Highly recommend you don't miss this treasure if in Dublin. Service was prompt. Friendly waitress and a nice spot to stop and fill your cravings.
Nice brightly painted red cafe across the street from Dublin Castle. We arrived early for our tour so popped in for a quick hot beverage to warm us up. On this Saturday morning just before ten, there was a table for two still open in the corner. It's a cozy room with eight or so tables and a nice display case full of lovely pastries and scones. My wife ordered a cappuccino while I went with AB hot chocolate. Both drinks were delicious and I had bonus pink marshmallows in mine. In and out in minutes, we were all set to go on a tour.
This was my second time visiting QoT. Both times were complete with delightfully tasty and fresh food along with friendly service. I appreciate their twist on the traditional Irish Breakfast and really enjoyed the apple crumble tart. I certainly recommend coming here for breakfast or a sweet treat.
When I began researching places to visit for my trip to Dublin, I found Queen of Tarts on Yelp and thought the pictures of the chocolate chip scone looked absolutely delightful. I knew it was on my must-go-to list, and I definitely did-- three times, in fact. The chocolate chip scone was just as amazing as I had hoped for. I loved everything about it. I also had their pork sandwich, and I loved the combination of flavors. It was so very good. I also ordered it all three times I visited, so that should tell you how much I liked it. The restaurant is small, but we always managed to find seating. The staff were always friendly and welcoming. When I return to Dublin next year, you can bet I'll be dining at Queen of Tarts again!
Absolutely a must stop. The scones are amazing coffee is great! Friendly and attentive service. 2019 was the last time I was in Dublin and stopped in. I'm happy to see they're still in business, There location has moved, Yelp and Google maps take you to the old address. I've attached the business card with the address and mini map . ( the down side, in two years I've not been able to find a scone in Philadelphia area that's even as half as good as theirs)
It says 5 stars but I mean 6. An absolute treat, our first stop in Ireland that made a lasting impression. We were a rather large party of 6 in a small quaint restaurant in Dublin city. They have so many accolades on the front post of the restaurant we knew it was worth our time and the wait. The hostess informs us of how small the restaurant is but does not give us a ridiculous wait time she bites her finger nails and asks some of the patrons to move seats to accommodate our party, and Believe it or NOT they DID. We were able to be seated in just a few minutes. We ordered scones, avocado toast, and a few other items. Everything was fresh and delicious. The customer service was impeccable. Everyone was so friendly. We enjoyed our first meal in Ireland and it set the bar high for the next morning's breakfast.
This place is so cute and decadent. The atmosphere reminds me of a quaint coffee shop (which, I suppose, it is). I went here for breakfast and ordered their Irish Porridge with seasonal fruit, cream and toasted almonds along with a blueberry scone (can't visit a tart shop and not order a dessert). The porridge was huge. There was no way that I needed both the porridge and the scone but when in Dublin... It was creamy and had a great thick texture. The scone was light and fluffy and paired well with the butter and jam they give you. My only complaint was that I would have liked a larger cup of jam for my scone but only because it was so good! I would definitely go back and I highly recommend this place. read more
There has been a line up outside this popular cafe whenever we walked by. On a weekday afternoon, we happened to be in the area and there was no line! Since we were on the way to dinner, we stopped quickly to share something and check out the hype. On the recommendation from our waitress, we got the Queen of Chocolate Fudge Cake. A layered cake with a thick layer of chocolate ganache on top. It was served with some whipped cream and berries. It was a good slice of cake, but not sure I wouldn't rave about it. The atmosphere is nice to have afternoon tea and unwind for a bit. A nice café, a bit on the expensive side but don't fully get the hype. read more

When I began researching places to visit for my trip to Dublin, I found Queen of Tarts on Yelp and thought the pictures of the chocolate chip scone looked absolutely delightful. What a cute place to have afternoon tea. Conveniently located near the Dublin Castle, I had late lunch/afternoon tea here one day. I ordered the soup of the day, and it was tomato soup. Soup is served with two piece of bread and bread really went good with the soup. I also ordered two different flavor of macarons with earl grey tea. Macaron wasn't the best I had but I am comparing to the best of best in Paris... Earl grey tea was fantastic. I enjoyed the nice smell of earl grey... I saw a person next me eating scone. They looked so much tasty, I was secretly wishing I should have ordered scone instead of macarons. I also had someone else had three tired trey for their afternoon tea with nice small finger food. They looked really nice too. While I enjoyed my soup and tea very much, I still wished for scone. I saw at least five people eating scone... They all seemed to enjoying them. Perhaps next time, if there is such thing as next time.... Based on my observation, I think they are famous for scone. So have one and let me know how good it is.. read more
Loved this place! I had a super smooth latte and the eggs with potato cakes for breakfast - delicious. Table service was good. Also picked up a raspberry scone and an apple crumble tart to go at the other location. The tart was just amazing - the apples were super sour (which I love) and the crumble part was perfect. Very reasonable prices for a New Yorker like me. read more

I came here right before a walking tour in Dublin that I did. It was kind of on the way to our meeting spot but we were running late so it was a very quick in and out that I couldn't pass up. It has a really cute red exterior that reminds me of a London bus which makes a lot of sense for the name too. Upon walking in my eyes grew wide to see the plethora of cakes, cookies, tarts, and other goodies spread out everywhere. I really couldn't decide but I remember going with a strawberry cupcake that was delicious. They serve solid meals too that look pretty good. If I come back to Dublin I will definitely here again to sample more goods. read more

Excellent little cafe for tea and treats. After seeing other Yelp reviews, I couldn't wait to try one of everything. My hot chocolate was rich and decadent (not to mention pretty with pink marshmallows). And the chocolate chip scone was amazing - dense but sweet and tender. My friend tried the vegetable quiche and it was also delicious. With a flaky crust, pesto flavor and loaded with veggies. I'll certainly be back the next time I'm in Dublin! read more

Small cute crowded cafe, and good for a light snack or lunch. None of the desserts I tried were bad, and my latte was the perfect boost. Only real issue I had was that the menu items that weren't dessert, pretty much everything that was geared more for lunch, all incorporated pork in some way limiting food options read more

Extremely busy cafe at which you may have to wait a while for a table, unless you arrive early as we did. Specialist in cakes and tarts - hence the name! Offers a daily vegan cake, when I visited this was a luxurious, rich, sticky chocolate and raspberry cake (so good I went back the next day to order it again). Breakfast menu could have a few more vegan dishes - all that was available to me was porridge or avocado sourdough. The avocado sourdough was very nice. Great breakfast place. Got this recommendation from a friend and it didn't disappoint. Large choice of breakfast sweets and a few hot items as well. I chose the full breakfast while my wife got the raspberry scone. Both were delicious. Portions were appropriate, but I didn't feel overly stuffed after leaving. I highly recommend this place for eat in or take away. read more

Hearing wonderful things about Queen of Tarts, a group of four of us stopped in on a Tuesday mid-morning for breakfast and were greeted with a packed location with no tables. Now, most places would ask if you wanted to do takeaway or ask you to wait but the staff here at this location told us about their second location just down the block at Cow's alley and explained that there was more tables and a bigger space there. We so appreciated not having to squeeze tightly into this location while waiting for a table or having to rush through the menu to do takeaway. We went back the following day to this location to show our support and get a bite from them too since they had been so kind when we came in prior. The quality is just as good -- fantastic! And the staff is very friendly. If you are going with a larger group than two, I'd suggest the location at Cows Alley, otherwise stop in here for a table or a quick snack. The Queen of Tarts is a popular breakfast place amongst foodies, locals and tourists. So many people have pointed me to this place: it's long-considered among one of the 100 Best Restaurants by McKennas' Guides (local ratings), it's recommended as one of the cheap eats by Rick Steves (Europe guru), it has solid ratings on Yelp and TripAdvisor (#3, over 5000 reviews) and the hotel front desk staff highly recommend it. If multiple sources of different types recommend a restaurant, you know that you got yourself a winner. There are actually two Queen of Tarts, but both are situated right next to each other. The smaller of the two overlooks the busy Dame Street while the other one lies near the entrance to an alley. Both lie right on the edge of Temple Bar and close to Christ Church Cathedral. Also helped that this place was less than a 5 minute walk from my hotel so I wouldn't be stuck with hotel breakfast all the time. The one overlooking Dame Street really is quite small. Tables look as if they are a tight squeeze but it is relatively cozy. I had breakfast here twice - first as a way to get fuel after a 6 hour flight from the US, the other to try out a traditional Irish breakfast. My first stop I didn't want to eat too heartily as the plane fed me well so I just ate the first thing that caught my eye - a chocolate scone (~€3). Had it also with a mocha (€3.25). Scone was served with Irish butter and jam. I thought I would need clotted cream for my scone but due to the Irish butter and chocolate chips turns out I didn't need any more cream. Went well with my smooth mocha. On my second visit I got their hearty breakfast (bacon, pork & leek sausage, fried egg, potato chive cake, roast tomato, relish & toast, €10.50). This is their interpretation of an Irish fry-up. Keep in mind that the bacon served in Europe is akin to a fried ham and NOT taken from the pork belly (what makes American bacon a noteworthy breakfast item). Was a rather average breakfast but satisfied its purpose to be a filling breakfast for a day's worth of walking. Eggs are cooked over-easy. Sausage is of medium thickness. Potato chive cake was very bland and needed salt and hot sauce to make it better. I did like the Irish soda bread served on the side. Queen of Tarts has its place on a foodie tour of Dublin. While I won't come back here for their full breakfasts I'll certainly come back to try their scones, pastries and cakes as this is their specialty. They also have cute branded items to take away as souvenirs if you have a foodie friend in your life and you want to get them a unique souvenir. read more

Every listicle about good food in Dublin lists this place, so we had to try it. It's an excellent place to stop by for some tea and sweets. Half of the place were tourists and the other half seemed to be locals. There are two locations that are within a block of each other. Both are good. The Bailey's Cheesecake is superb. It was dense and creamy, but also not too sweet. I couldn't really taste any alcohol in it. I loved the crust, too, which provided a nice contrast. The whipped cream was heavenly. My friend got the Chocolate Cake and he said it was the best chocolate cake he has ever had. I'm not a big fan of chocolate cake, so I just thought it was OK. I also wanted a pot of Chamomile tea, but they ended up accidentally giving me Earl Grey. It still tasted good. Prices are reasonable considering the area. read more

Great place for dessert. Presentation was fantastic, service was quick, ambience was enjoyable, beverages were will provisioned They missed out on the last star because the scone was a little too much on the crunchy side for my liking, although it was still good read more
