My Aunt ordered the kolachi kiffle cookies last April for my 70th birthday because I always teased her if she was making them for Christmas. They were an every year occurrence when I was growing up. She said they are too much work now that she is in her 90's. They arrived fresh and were delicious. I just ordered some for Christmas and am looking forward to their arrival. Cookies! This place has that hometown bakery feel. I have only had their chocolate chip cookies and those by themselves are good. They are soft, full of chocolate chips in every bite and not too sweet. You will find yourself just grabbing them and stuffing them in your mouth if you're not careful. Their nut rolls seem pricey but I've heard others talk about how good they are, so that's next on the list. Service was swift but friendly too...definitely worth a stop. Saw the kolachi rolls on TV and then again on line. Looked so good that I had to have some. So I ordered a poppy seed and a raspberry filled on line and had them delivered. Needless to say they were both outrageously delicious. Both were loaded with an excellent filling. Not too sweet. And the raspberry one was a bit tangy. The dough was super tender and rich. I would give a 0 stars if possible. I have ordered from Butter Maid over a dozen+ times. Most of these orders have been shipped to my (now) 95 year old Aunt in CA. On the (VERY) last order for $60+ I shipped two of her favorite rolls to her with an expensive 3 day shipping. These would have arrived on Wednesday before the Sunday Holiday weekend. I received notification it had been shipped. When I checked the tracking I noticed it was not shipped 3 day, but standard. I checked with customer service and they agreed to the mistake but assured the tracking for standard delivery would be Friday. I followed this tracking until Friday evening and received an update the rolls would be delivered on Monday-after the Holiday and over 9 days from shipment. When I wrote to customer service about this fiasco they basically shrugged it all off and took NO responsibility for their chosen shipper-although I paid a premium for the service. Bottom line: They not only refused to refund me. I told my Aunt to throw the goods away because they were made with eggs and were in hot shipping for 9 days. They could have EASILY handled this situation from a long term customer but chose the $ over the relationship. Coincidentally, they removed me from their weekly mailing list. I advise to stay away. Choose other companies for similar products and appreciate repeat business. These people could care less about their customers and what happens to their goods once shipped. read more

The first order 3 rolls and a box of cookies were held up in transit by USPS. It spent 9 days in shipping (Not Butter Maid fault). The cookies and the rolls were a little stale. I called Butter Maid and informed them of the delayed shipping and the condition of the products. The promptly replaced the entire order. The second order was still fresh and tasted outstanding. Fantastic people to deal with, I will order from them again and recommend them to my friends. Update: I just got home after going to lunch and found a shipment from Butter Maid on my front door. The order contained 2 Poppy Seed Filled Kolachi rolls and a box of Apricot Kolachi cookies. I tried the cookies and they are fantastic (they will be gone in a couple of days). I have not contacted Butter Maid yet about the second shipment. I hope it was not a mistake sending them to me. I am originally from PA and have had Poppy Seed rolls made by family members. BUYER BEWARE--FREE HAIR WITH PURCHASE When I received these I was highly disappointed in the size. I was also extremely mad. They make them look like a regular size roll but they are less than 1/2 a roll. When I opened one of the walnut rolls, I found a long blonde curly hair inside the plastic bag. What a turn off. Great tasting baked treats from Ohio. They must shut down for 2 weeks around Xmas and new year so delivery seemed a bit slow for food. They pack well so it's still chilled bt time pkg arrives. Until a few months ago I hadn't heard of Butter Maid. I never saw the QVC specials either. After coming across their ad about a year ago, I finally decided to take the plunge last week. Unfortunately I was VERY disappointed. First, the cookies on the website and the cookies I received looked nothing like the photo in their website. See photos attached. Even though I WAS truly shocked how small they were (for the price), I decided to try one. Nothing to write home about. Then I tried the Apricot Kolachi that I had ordered\. It was basic, bland, and for the number of layers, I thought there wasn't enough jelly/jam. Considering I had spent $56 on 24 smallish cookies and a bland Kolachi, I decided to return the items. Although I was a bit surprised they asked for the items back even though I wrote a lovely letter, they offered free shipping and sent me a label. I received my refund immediately. SO, even though I wasn't happy with the items, I was pleased with their customer service. I donated an additional $5.00 their Military Cookie Program. Bottom line? I didnt mind paying the shipping but to pay $25 a pound for cookies that arent made of some semi precious ingredient is pretty bizarre. Nut horns. Drove from Pittsburgh to get some of these, as their website and many others raved about how wonderful they are, only to be profoundly disappointed. Walked in to their store, which was very underwhelming, small, and unimpressive. Horrible parking lot. If you go I recommend walking, use Uber, or a bicycle. We asked the young man behind the counter about purchasing some nut horns, and he says "I'll get them, they're in the back." HE THEN BRINGS THEM UP FROM THE BACK AND SETS THEM ON TOP OF THE OTHER THINGS WE WERE BUYING. Then, while trying to total our order he couldn't find to button for the nut horn. So another employee comes up and says, "Oh, these are not for sale to WALK IN customers....these are only for sale to the ONLINE CUSTOMERS!!
