Even walking in with high expectations, I was blown away by the level of service. George, Kemesha's husband, was working the store on his own today. When I walked in and I asked for his help to select a gift, he apologized that his wife wasn't there. Then he called her. He put her on speaker phone and she guided me to an amazing gift. I could have looked at the shelf all day and not "seen" it. She wanted to give me another option too -- and I appreciated her integrity in that, but this first one was perfect! Next was gifts for my nieces and she directed me to a selection where literally everything was so perfect. And there were things there that I would buy for myself! When I mentioned I also needed a gift for another nephew, whose birthday is in a couple of weeks, she encouraged me to come back. She said that she could have recommended something in stock, but that she was getting more merchandise next week and didn't want to just sell me anything. This store isn't exactly around the corner from me; it was a detour to come here. Shopping online would be more convenient, in theory. But some things are more important than convenience. There is a level of care in how Kemesha and George run their store that cannot be replaced. Within 5 minutes Kemesha and George won me over as a raving fan client for life. This is a business run on integrity and caring, and I'm thrilled to give them my business. PS - I rarely take the time to write online reviews, so consider that for what it's worth to you.

I have three young grandchildren with August birthdays and ended up buying just one item. When I walked in (I was the only customer in the store), I remarked that the store layout has changed, but the salesperson didn't ask me what ages I was shopping for or explain how the store is organized. I found a book I was going to purchase and noticed two pages were torn, which I pointed out to the saleswoman. She first said that's because the book isn't new, but then acknowledged it is new. I had to request that she look in the back for another book (she said she didn't have another). I found a toy in a box and left it on a table, and the saleswoman said she was cleaning there and would put the box at the front. I asked about another type of toy and was told it wasn't available. Tired of mumbled responses from a woman with cleaning spray in her hand, I gave up. At check-out I requested the present be wrapped, but I changed my mind when I saw the wrapping paper is thick brown paper that looks as though it should be at a fish or meat counter. I used to go to this toy store pre-COVID, and yes it could be a little chaotic. But the updated store is too far the other direction, not welcoming. I have six (soon to be seven) grandchildren age four and under, and the store wasted an opportunity to serve a repeat customer.

My 12 y.o. son is a huge Star Wars collector, and he discovered HH on Yelp about. year ago. We've gone maybe a dozen times now even though it's an hour round trip. We often find rare and impossible to get items here and if it's not on the shelves, it's probably in their basement, so just ask. We became friendly with Jordan and Val on our trips there, and Jordan has been especially gracious. He always has time to talk, answer questions, and be friendly. Even when we come to just window shop, we still have great talks. Recently my son was looking for an ARC-170 gunship, and Jordan and Val had just gotten one in that had missing parts, and they gave it to my son as a thank you for being a loyal customer. It made my son's month. The store is a block from the central shopping district, so when we go we get bagels or Korean chicken and make a day out of it, or go the few blocks to Trader Joes. I know a Trader Joes isn't a selling point for a store specifically, but as a parent of someone who loves shopping here it's nice to have a cute town that can be part of the experience.
