As an out of towner, I couldn't tell if the reviews for this store were real or fake. They're real, this place is awesome. The photos looked much better than the other store (that was closer to my hotel) so I came here instead. Was approached by a helpful customer-friendly guy who showed me everything that they had in the categories I wanted and left me to it. I worked in customer service for a while and was impressed. Way more selection than the big chains, it was actually same and more diverse stuff compared to the big box stores (in my town Target often has the best toys, but they often only carry the same things - this place had that and more!). They had stock of stuff you can usually only find online (Ex: Brio, Gabby's Dollhouse, even some die cast planes that I normally can only find at a certain online shop). Whoever is ordering the stock here gets it. They aren't simply reordering the same old stuff you find everywhere else. Prices were on point too! Didn't feel like I was "paying up" for this place either, because we all have budgets at the end of the day. He did offer to wrap the toys, but my kids could care less about wrapping so I declined. He asked if I was sure and I said yea, let's skip it. If I lived here, I would regularly support this shop. Their prices are competitive, and the customer service cannot be beat. Love supporting local spots and this place is no exception. Super friendly staff. They have a wide variety of toys (including newly released, hard to find ones). They are a tad more pricey than a Target but the personalized service is deifinitely worth it. There is parking in the back (plus an entrance) or park on the street and enter through the front. Super helpful when you are in a rush. Bonus - they wrap your toy for free. Awesome spot. Enjoy! read more

I was in a jam! My grandson's 6th birthday and I could not get to him. Called Tons of Toys and Sebastian was phenomenal. He helped me shop, texting the images of the items my Maxi would want, wrapped up the present and even delivered the gift. Get this, without knowing, I called about 10 minutes before closing. I love the customer service, the grace and courtesy. Will never shop anywhere else for my 5 grandchildren's toys. read more

There are certain types of retail establishments I am very comfortable in. Chinese restaurants, comic book shops are among them. Another kind? Toy stores. Large, small, medium, having online shopping options has not dampened my enthusiasm for toy stores, even smaller ones like "Tons of Toys". From the outside, "Tons" is welcoming with large stuffed animals in the front and toys in the window. Inside is shelf after shelf of toys packed in tight, creating a bit of a wonderland effect of colors and childhood joy. I saw everything from "no bake" donut makers, Rock'em Sock'em Robots, Star Wars toys, remote controlled vehicles, dolls and of course board games. The staff was very friendly and offered help twice. I also noticed for a small shop, their prices were very fair. In some cases only a dollar or two above prices you'd see at Target or Toys R Us. I was quite impressed! This is a great little shop to pick up some toys in Madison. Definitely worth a visit! read more

This place is adorable! They are filled floor to ceiling with toys and the workers are friendly without being bothersome. What I really like is they have a lot of toys that require children to play using their imagination. They have a lot of creative projects and art projects for all ages. They also have adorable (and safer) wooden toys for babies and toddlers. They have some great toys for nostalgic gifts. My mom comes here whenever she is in town to buy reasonably priced creative gifts for the kids in our family. Very sweet store :) read more

This is a small chain of family owned toy stores and a great alternative to the big box chain stores that we all know. If you are looking for personalized service when you are looking for that gift for the special kid in your life than check them out. The store is much larger than you would think and they have a very large selection of all the popular toys. Stack floor to ceiling with toys, Tons of toys lives up to it's name. They have a wide variety of toys for age groups 0 to 12ish years old. The staff is exceptionally helpful and good humored. I was able to do most of my Christmas shopping for the kids in my family in very little time. As many of my reviews indicate, I am small business friendly, located on a Main street, they are a perfect example. Pricey, yes they are, but Tons of toys also provides free gift wrapping, and if you are savvy, they offer a 15% off coupon, but it expires before December. In my opinion, the convenience of free gift wrapping in addition to no shipping or handling, makes the price gap small. Please be advised, they do not appear to have much for video games or larger toys. (bicycles, power wheels etc) Bottom line: Excellent Customer service and good variety beats Lord Satan TOYS R US, and evil overlord Amazon any day. read more

Tons of Toys and its excellent staff provided us one of the happiest moments of the lockdown period of 2020. Locked within the confines of a small ranch house that made us wonder whether we were experiencing cabin fever or had actually bought a small town version of the Overlook hotel, our family had developed an unhealthy puzzle obsession. Burned through two decades of dusty, backlogged puzzles in about two months. The Beast of Quarantine demanded more, lest its worshipping natives become restless. With few options available, Tons of Toys answered the call. Literally. Their wonderful staff somehow made the process of choosing a puzzle by phone more fun than it had any reason to be - there is no reason, to be clear. And these guys KNOW their puzzles. We arrived at the store for an easy handoff, only to be given one more surprise. The puzzle was wrapped in layers and layers of wrapping paper. Every time you thought you'd reached the puzzle - more wrapping paper. And then MORE wrapping paper. My family and I were laughing so hard that I genuinely had to stop and momentarily force myself to breath. The puzzle was great and lasted a week, but this store gave us an experience and sense of happiness that has lasted for many months since. Best toy store ever. read more

Can you buy toys for cheaper on Amazon? Yes. So why do you go to a place like this? The typical story you get is to support local businesses, but I'm of the belief that best product for best price wins. I do buy a fair number of toys on Amazon. However, two reasons to shop at Tons of Toys: 1) Instant gratification. My kids want a toy and I want them to get it right away. They love being the ones to pick it out. And, it teaches them math because I give them a budget. 2) The guys that run this place are super helpful. I'd say we buy almost all of our gifts from here because they offer helpful suggestions about what to get. Also, it makes it easier on locals to exchange. I went in there wanting a toy that helped with spelling and words. They suggested Zingo. Kids loved it. All of their suggestions are spot on. So, the product here is the fact that you get great product suggestions from people who like kids and toys. read more

Not crazy about this branch - the staff weren't very knowledgeable about making a recommendation for an 8 yr. old girl's birthday present...they're more like college students with a part-time job. The better branch is the Tons of Toys in Chatham...the main proprietor Keith is way more knowledgeable and helpful than the Madison store (because the Chatham store is closed on Sunday, I went to the Madison one and experienced the lackluster service). read more

I like Tons of Toys. I've had better experience at Madison location rather than the Chatham location. I like the owner....always very friendly, helpful and willing to wrap anything you buy. My only complaint is that they can be pricer on certain things. I try to shop local as much as possible, but if a toy is 19.99 at Toys R Us, and is 24.99 at Tons of Toys, I will buy it at Toys r Us. That markup is just too high for the price point on the toy. So, I usually double check. I am willing to pay a little more, but not $5 on a $20 toy. Anyway, I shop here as much as I can and hope they stick around until my kids outgrow them! read more

I just brought the girls i babysit for (ages 6 and 10) into the store and let them pick out whatever they wanted. They could've spent hours in there if I let them. Owner Chris was helpful as usual and the kids love him. Rainbow looms are the hottest thing now so girls got new limited edition refills they couldn't find at any other store so they were super excited. They also got some tie dye bags for school and lip gloss. They even got this cool y'all ball to play w outside with their dog. Always impressed with these guys and the array of stuff they carry. Side note: if you don't wanna park on Main Street there is always parking on the side street by the store and there is a parking lot in the back. read more
