I had a lovely stay here. Yes the room was small but for one night it was fine. I loved my breakfast that they accommodated to my dietary restrictions. After breakfast, I went for a swim on the private beach and it was nearly empty and the experience was heavenly. My daughter held her wedding at the By The Sea and it was beautiful. The staff made extra effort to ready the grounds and were very accommodating. Our family stayed in the one and two-bedroom suites and they are lovely, clean, modern and very comfortable. It was a delightful week until the weekend came around. They welcome wedding guest and have a bonfire for them which is right below the windows. Than during the weekend they all gathered around and are drinking and yelling so you couldn't use the private beach. If if were to stay again I would go from Monday to Friday to avoid all the partying. read more

Family stayed for weekend. First the good stuff: - nice private beach with corn hole game, small tables and chairs throughout private beach with small umbrellas. - updated room that had issues. See below. - nice big breakfast room with view of ocean - great location. Close to everything - pleasant staff Bad stuff: - Breakfast ! Should be called bed and no breakfast. You only had one choice in the morning. One day it was pancakes and the other eggs (which were not ready till about 9). No pastries, jellies/jams, bread, cereal, etc. NOTHING !!!!!!! Except one pot of coffee for entire place !!! Horrible - Room was updated and nice with everything you'll need but it had broken doors and locks, torn screens/window shades and also not very clean. - View of ocean is from the side by the parking lot with other guests basically sharing your porch as Some windows in the room face their porch ! - check in. No one to be found. Staff is very nice but not very good at accommodations. Room and beach towels hard to find. -WiFi is horrible. Cannot work if you need to We will not return. For the money they charge these basic items should be done. A full continental breakfast should be done every morning on time as advertised. Not when they get to it and more than just pancakes as a choice of food. And repairs should be taken care of before check in. Obviously they built up over time as not just one item needs repair in the room Hopefully owners will read and make it a real bed and breakfast with a decent breakfast ! My mom and I stayed here a couple days ago and we had a very average experience. See below for details: Pros: - Beachfront with great views of the ocean - Sleeping with the window open is great as you can hear the ocean - Beach chairs and umbrellas given which is nice Cons: - The internet is literally non-existent. You cannot even catch a signal. When I mentioned to the front desk, the lady tried to argue with me that they don't say they offer internet on the website (they absolutely do say that on their website so unsure of her argument.) - Not that clean. I wouldn't say it's dirty, but it's not clean either. - I called ahead to let them know that my mother was a vegan and they said they'd be happy to accommodate at breakfast. When we checked in, I mentioned it again and they said "no problem". Then the next morning at breakfast, I mentioned it a 3rd time and they looked puzzled saying they basically didn't know. The lady said they would make something but that "it is going to take a while". I can understand if we had JUST told them at breakfast that day, but I literally mentioned it 3 times. Annoying. Overall, I'd say it's an average experience with nice ocean views and beachfront, but other than that, very average. read more

The beach itself is indeed right out front, and you can step directly from breakfast out onto the sand. We came on a rainy weekend, so we didn't get to take the beach for a full test drive, but we can verify the presence of sand and water. It's worth noting that this section of oceanfront is hacked into private beaches, and the inn's stretch is about 50' long. You can, however, walk a good length of beachfront without anyone hassling you. Rooms are snug and adequately appointed, with honorable mention to especially soft sheets and the chocolate truffles. Absent without leave were typical hotel toiletries like shampoo and body wash. The breakfast is a generous spread, and comes with an unbeatable beachfront view. The food was better on our second day, when it seemed like the regular chef was in. The courses included yogurt and granola, pastries, fresh fruit, and a very respectable vegetable frittata with home fries. We did find that at points there is perhaps less than meets the eye with some of their advertising. We booked a room with an ocean view, for example, but it was from the side of the building overlooking a parking lot. The gourmet coffee and tea, my wife was disappointed to discover, consisted of a Keurig and Lipton. We also noticed that there are a great many rules here. None seem particularly onerous or any more stringent than at any other inn, but their ubiquitous presence -- in the brochure, in the rooms and hallways, and even on the beach -- gets to be quite bothersome. One gets to feeling like their very presence is a source of anxiety for the innkeeper. We enjoyed our stay here overall, and we certainly love this stretch of the Cape. We would consider booking here again if the price was right, but we'd also shop other options. read more

Our friends suite had no bathroom tissue or soap and a ripped broken screen. Honestly I can't believe people pay these prices and go there. I traveled a far distance for a Cape experience and was very disappointed. Do yourself a favor for this kind of $ look elsewhere. Oh and no pool. Who goes to breakfast at 9 AM and the coffee pot has coffee from previous day. . Overall the place looks very neglected and worn. Parking lot is dangerous and full of pot holes. The breakfast was good. The shower handle was broken off, when we got there and still broken off when we left, as well as ripped screen. First time staying here; first night our a/c unit was broken but the owners brought us a new one at 11pm when we called them. Great customer service, room was cozy (and cool!). Only reason I'm giving this place any stars at all is because I'm unable to give it negative stars! This place has been a disappointment from the moment we walked in to get our keys. Jean is not a nice lady, the place is run down (our windows are filthy), the room is half the size shown on their advertising, every where we turn there are signs telling us to do stuff. For what we paid they should put their cheap lawn chairs back, clean the veranda, not us! I'm so angry. I hope Jean sees this, kicks us out and gives us our money back. The bad reviews on Yelp scared me at first, but as this was one of only 2 beachfront B&B in Dennis Port, I reserved a room here anyway for my weekend getaway. I'm glad I did, for it was a very pleasant experience. Very nice and friendly ladies at the reception. Room was clean, bathroom was spacious, good amenities, and the housekeeper was more than accommodating. Breakfast was great, and changed everyday for the 3 mornings I was there. By the third day, they knew what I liked and didn't like and served me exactly what I would've wanted, which I thought was quite receptive of the chef/kitchen helpers. I had to knock a star off because my "ocean view" room literally had a kiddy-corner view of the ocean from the bathroom window. Other than that this could potential be my annual coastal retreating place. read more

This place is terrible. I paid 650$ for two nights and when we got there the room was similar to the closet under the stairs that Harry Potter lived in. Smallest hotel room I've ever seen. Advertised a flat screen tv, it was 16" maybe. Advertised as handicap accessible but would not accommodate my mother who has to use a cane when we surprisingly found out we were booked on the third floor. The doors to the room and bathroom open from wind if you don't lock them. Said they had a fridge but you can't even fit a to go box in it nor do they have a microwave to warm it up in! No ice, no pool, "private beach" with a public beach next door with frequent trespassers without repercussions. Worst vacation ever. Do not book a stay here! August 2020 read more

This is an easy review to write because we can only say glowing things about the SeaShell Motel, By the Sea Suites & Guesthouse, and the English Garden. We booked each of these places (located within feet of one another) for our wedding weekend. We also had our entire wedding party do the same, and let me tell you, we had the ABSOLUTE BEST WEEKEND. From the Friday night bonfire/pizza party on the beach to the goodbye breakfast on Monday, Erin and her team did everything that they possibly could to make our weekend so special. They worked around the clock to ensure that our experience was superb- and it was. Their oceanfront view is breathtaking, their family friendly private beach is so welcoming, and their food is absolutely outstanding. We challenge you to find a better combination on Cape Cod for a better price - you can't. This trio is the real deal and the best kept secret on Cape Cod. Some of the best memories (and photos) that we will treasure for the rest of our lives occurred on their special beachfront property. My wife and I spend several wonderful days at this terrific place right next to the Atlantic Ocean. We stayed in an apartment with lots of room, lots of windows, beautiful views of the Ocean, and great accommodations - beautiful bed, roomy living room, functional kitchen, and a deck with ocean view. My parents spent $1600 for 4 nights and it was a terrible disappointment. First they were told to move to another (smaller) suite in the middle of their stay, just unacceptable. Second, don't call yourself a B&B if you don't offer your guests breakfast! Suites aren't allowed breakfast without paying extra because they have a stove?? Third, the suite's only bed is a small double in terrible shape, old and bouncy. Fourth, no wifi. Fifth, a lot of noise above them, a guy who apparently lives there, walking back and forth all night long pounding the floor and moving furniture all night long. Sixth, the manager is nothing you'd expect, rather crass. They had to take a pointless winding "tour" where the dining room is highlighted after which they abruptly were told they don't get breakfast. My parents are older and not as mobile as they used to be, just show them to their room after their long drive! Never again!! read more

By The Sea was an incredible experience from the first second on to the very end (and actually even further than this, because I left my jogging shoes under the bed and they sent them to me without charging a fee or anything). The location is just beautiful, right on the beach, the house is terrific, so well maintained, every single detail so carefully prepared, just amazing.. The staff is so friendly, the breakfast delicious and also the little pastries and cakes they serve all day on the terrace is great. This place is on the beach, which is a plus. However, it looks like it was decorated by your spinster aunt who was set free in a Michaels' with a Visa gift card several years ago. The breakfast was mediocre at best, but the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. There were a lot of children, so if you are looking for a romantic getaway, there are probably better choices. read more
