You will not get what you pay for with BDF. We paid over $7k for the all inclusive package. It started with engagement photos and those came out great. It was with one photographer and she was professional and courteous. She was the lead photographer at our wedding, joined by other photographers and a videographer and a couple others. When we got our photos and video back, we did not think negatively. Some great moments were captured. We've reviewed our photos and videos ad nauseam at this point--our wedding was over 2 years ago. We've been to multiple weddings since then and had a chance to review photos and videos from other vendors, albeit from different states. BDF is, without a doubt, a sub par production. We had the lead photographer in several photos that should've captured only guests or the bride and groom. The lead photographer was also in video shots. Other people taking photos and videos were in shots. In retrospect, there was virtually no creativity with the shots that were taken. You will have no way of knowing what's happening with your vendor here. Not sure what could've prevented this. BDF's portfolio on their website looks much better than the product we received. The main complaint here is the price. For $7k, in Los Angeles, you'd think every single photo and shot would be magical. But it was not. This felt more like a $2k product. To top everything off, we had photos / selfies of the BDF crew. I'm all for having fun and enjoying your job. But producing a sub par product and then gratuitously including yourselves in someone else's magical day without their consent is just a slap in the face. read more

Horrible. Was promised a second photographer which was not assigned until days before wedding and the photos from him were absolutely horrendous. I could've taken better photos from an iPhone. They truly hire anyone off the street, don't trust this company for the one day of your like you can't get back the photos from my main photographer were fine but extremely limited and he did not select ideal locations with shade and sun. I honestly felt like he was taking good pictures then when I got them back they just were all from weird angles and not composed or positioned properly. A friend of mine recommended ByDesignFilms as he was very happy with his wedding film. Recommendations go a long way so we jumped in and hired these guys and we just can't say enough about the customer service, filming and editing. Everyone we spoke to about changes and updates up to my wedding day were so accommodating and kind. The film makers and photographers were unobtrusive and a joy to work with. I thought everything was going to be great....I put my down payment down but I never got any information after that. 10 months until my wedding and nothing!!! ZERO communication from them!!! Hands down the most awful company I've ever worked with. The photos they took of our wedding looked like someone had put a 2014 Instagram filter on them. Trying to get them to fix them or just provide us the originals so that we could get them edited elsewhere was like pulling teeth. We used by design for our wedding and we did not have a good experience. working with them before hand I was very excited about this company, but once we got to the wedding day it was a mess. One of the videographers did not show up to record me (the bride) getting ready and now we have zero videos of me getting ready. Once we got to our wedding videos back, the long wedding video was so disappointed. It was basically a bunch of long clips put together (something that I could have just did myself). I reached out about my issues after the wedding and they were not helpful. I was very hopeful but was very disappointed. The amount of money we paid for what we got was a big let down. read more

I hired two videographers just so we could get our dance recorded. One videographer was seen in the background of photos just texting on his phone while the other videographer cut off most of our bodies and could not keep the camera straight. The videographers were also 45 minutes late to film the bride. I would not recommend. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! This has been an absolute NIGHTMARE dealing with this company. They were quick to take our deposit and payments, but they are unresponsive to emails and contacts. We never received details of our photographer and videographer until the day before our wedding. Every time we have tried to contact them, we are always given excuses after excuses. Please save yourself the headache and avoid this company like the plague. They were without a doubt the worst vendor we worked with. After we received the photos, they turned out awful. Just plain amateur editing. we were so frustrated, we decided we will take the photos to be edited elsewhere. Now, they are even requesting that we pay additional charges for our raw footage. Very disappointed in the video that was meant to capture one of the most special days of our lives. Our videographer made me feel uncomfortable from the start, and when I said something, stopped putting in any effort. The voiceovers sound bad, sound quality of the day is completely off, and key moments were missed. On top of that, the videographer dropped a heavy camera on one of our guests heads on the dance floor... so so disappointing and sad! I submitted this in our feedback survey and never received a response, which was also disappointing. The editors were willing to work with us, but it seemed like they used AI or some sort of software to put film together rather than really thinking about it and trying to make it quality. I wish I could go back and pick a different vendor - so be warned :( read more

Unfortunately, I have to recommend that you avoid the added stress of working with ByDesign. While our videographers were wonderful (I believe all videographers are *independently* contracted through ByDesign) I cannot recommend ByDesign. First, their "client experience" director, our main contact, changed three separate times in the less than a year between us signing and our wedding. After our wedding, we were contacted by yet another new person. This is fine, it just makes me wonder about the quality of the company and how frequently their staff turns over. Second, we selected a videographer for our wedding and were confirmed months in advance, and then ByDesign let us know about a month prior to our wedding that this videographer was double booked and they would need to assign a new one. Another example of lack of organization and professionalism. Lastly, and most importantly, it took 6 months (well beyone their promised window) to receive our films. A few weeks prior to that date, they let us know it would be late and they offered us the raw footage free of charge. We accepted, but still have yet to receive that 2 months later. It has now been over a month since we've received our films - we made some requests for edits, as the highlight film included clips from all speeches except the father of the bride (?!) and the sound in the full length film was all over the place - and they have not been able to provide even an ETA on when they'll be able to get the edited versions back. All we're asking for is an ETA and they haven't been able to provide that after a month. Overall, the professionalism just isn't there for this company. You don't need the stress of having to manage vendor disorganization on top of everything else! read more

My husband and I are the least photogenic couple .. EVER. The posing, the shape of our face, the smile.. you name it, one look at our photos and first word that comes to mind would be "awkward". Most of my days are spent ducking with a quickness whenever someone busts out their camera phones. Avoiding getting photos taken are fairly easy during random social gatherings but what are you supposed to do for your own wedding? It's just one of those things you HAVE TO do and theres no avoiding it. Now what do you do when you're a strong 6 that looks like 3's in pictures? Get video. One of my bridesmaids who got married a few years back had hired a video crew to capture her wedding and the end results BLEW MY MIND. I knew right then and there to hire a videographer for my own wedding. Something to enjoy watching and remembering our most important day as I stow away the wedding photos in the attic. But I also remembered the steep ass price tag her vendors charged and made it my quest to find the perfect videographers to fit the budget. It wasn't easy.. I must've asked for over 30 quotes from vendors, watched close to 100 videos on vimeo, read through 200 reviews on yelp.. and it was seriously disheartening. If the price fit the budget it was pretty obvious from their quality. If their videos were amazing they had the price to match. There was also a certain aesthetic I was going for and too many wedding videos were on the cheesy side. In swoops By Design Films. I think I was just going down the list of videographers on Google but regardless of how I found them i'm just glad that I did. I watched some of their works on vimeo and they fit my ideal video to a T. I requested a quote with low expectations and was surprised that they also fell within budget! I booked them on the spot. I went with the premiere package with raw footage of the wedding as an add on. Day of, the cinematographer is beyond amazing as he documents everything discreetly, unlike my obnoxious photographer who's busy barking at us to stand in generic poses. Within a month, the highlight film was emailed to us and I was beyond impressed with the finished product. Best. Decision. Ever. The video felt natural. Wow! Josh and his team just totally surpassed Kelly and myself's expectations for our wedding video coverage. His young and hip crew was very professional and flexible. Good communication throughout the process and very timely with the responses. He accommodated each one of our requests and even did a few extra things out of their way. This is LONG overdue, but byDesign filmed our wedding last June, and I could not be happier with the result. I barely knew what I wanted, but they asked thoughtful questions ahead of time and picked up on our vibe as a couple at the wedding, and the result was beyond our wildest dreams. I love that I have a quick clip for social sharing (and let's be honest I watch it often) as well as a full-length version to catch everything from that day. It's amazing how much of the action you miss when you're the bride - plus the day goes by SO fast, so I'm very grateful that I can relive every moment. I'm also someone who was absolutely not used to having as much attention as a wedding brings, so the concept of being followed around with a videographer freaked me out a bit. Honestly he made me feel extremely comfortable and we barely noticed he was there following us around (in a really good way, ha!) My mom was hesitant to even have a videographer, but was SO beyond happy that we did once she saw the final product (wedding videos have come a long way since the '80s). We hired Josh and his team at byDesign Films to shoot our wedding video and we couldn't be happier. Actually, we were totally and completely blown away! My husband was so happy that we not only pulled the trigger and had a video of the day, but that we hired byDesign Films to make it. I was speechless when I saw it. Seeing it changed how I saw the entire day. As the bride, the big day escapes you, no matter how present you try to be. There is just so much you miss because you're either tucked away in the bridal suite, or can't get to the see everything you set up at the wedding because you're too busy taking pictures with every single person that came. So when I saw the video, and how they captured it, I FINALLY felt part of it. Everything I worked so hard on came together and made sense. And it was far more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. What byDesign Films captured and created was like a movie, and we were the stars. That's how mind-blowing the quality of work is. All because Josh and his team showed up, hours earlier than anyone else, blended into the background and just shot away. They took shots I had totally forgotten to ask them about. They captured all those sweet little moments that were so dear to me, like my mother and I at the ceremony, when she stops and rests her head on my shoulder, for just one last moment together before the ceremony began. We were able to pay for the video in installments which was such a huge help. That way we could get through the event and all the other payments and not have to worry about our final video payment until the video was complete.
