My 11-13 year old GE side-by-side refrigerator died late Friday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. I packed it with ice and called Byrd to come repair it. I was told it would be $500 because the circuit board had to be replaced. (Byrd also charged less for the service call than a couple of other appliance repair services I called - $95 instead of around $130.) I decided to buy another and the Byrd repairman said Byrd would give me a $95 credit I could use to have them set up the new one regardless of where I purchased it. He also suggested I look at what Byrd had, brand new out-of-the-box appliances sold for big discounts. I looked for a new frig at two Lowe's, a Home Depot and Byrd Applilance Specialists' showroom, which is downtown on Airport Drive. I chose a Frigidaire French door 17.5 c.ft. frig with the freezer on the bottom. It was $1299 at Lowe's and less than $1000 at Byrd. Some of their appliances have cosmetic damage from being dinged and they are marked down accordingly, but this one just had a few minor scratches and I saved around $400 (if I include delivery/set up fees). From the original service call through the showroom sale through the delivery/set up I had a nice experience with every staff or repair person. The $95 I paid to have the old one diagnosed was used by Byrd to pay for delivery and set up. It's a beautiful refrigerator and much nicer than the huge old GE. Boyfriend made an appt to have someone come repair a washer I bought from them a year prior. They changed his set appt to a day earlier and arrived then 15 minutes before the appt time as I live very close to their shop. I wasn't home yet and the tech left before I arrived. I called him back and he wouldn't answer, so I called the store and they said he had gone to the following appt and I needed to reschedule. If my appt was for 9-11 am, I don't understand why he was at another appt by 9:15? What was their appt time? Later, I received a bill in the mail for $95 for a missed appointment. I didn't pay it, I YouTubed how to fix my washer. And they turned me into the credit bureau for $95. We needed a simple repair on our refrigerator. The initial visit to diagnose the tech was rude. He seemed aggravated to have to be there. I thought "maybe he's having a bad day ". Two weeks go by and we hear nothing. We call and they just hadn't bothered. Two and a half weeks the tech says he went to my house but no one heard him knock ( four people in the house). He called my wife who can't have her phone on her at work. He has my number but doesn't call. So he leaves. Then Byrd informs us it's a $95 missed appointment fee. A Psychic Reading I called this company to come out and FIX my washer. But what I got was a psychic reading at the customary charge of $79. The repairman (and I use that term loosely) came to my house, LOOKED at my washer and told me that I needed to order a sensor. Then he predicted the cost for him to come back, for another READING, I THINK NOT. So needless to say I will NOT be using this company again. I am out of a day of work, 79 dollars to the psychic, and I'm still stuck with a broke washer. read more

Half ass work. They came out and changed an igniter in my gas oven. The technician just cut and spliced the new igniter wires into the old ones. Instead he should have removed the old wires completely and replaced them with the full new igniter wires. Very displeased don't call them again read more

Wonderful service! We are first home buyers and the first day of moving in, our dishwasher flooded. We called in a panic and in less than an hour someone was at our door. Knowing our situation (being new homeowners and just moving from out of state), they provided us great knowledge of our appliances, fixed everything we needed and answered every question we had.
