The one time I needed to return something that I happened to have misplaced the receipt for, they issued a store credit as it still had the store sticker on it and I was able to use that which worked out well for me. Not sure what happened with Diana M's experience, but mine thru the years have always been positive. I like the old school hardware store feel from my youth, the knowledgable employee's and their help in finding the odd things I usually end up there looking for!

They are very disrespectful of disabled customers. My husband had to walk through the store for needed items despite being in pain. We've complained before without any action taken by the store. They harassed us about receipts from the pickup area. They treat you like a criminal! Don't shop here.

I ordered a product in-store, at the same time as purchasing other items and the employee said I'd receive a call or email in a couple weeks once the item had shipped. After a bit passed the time I hadn't heard anything so I stopped in to check in on it. To both of our surprise, and mistake, we saw and realized the order had a delivery date of the year 2027. I asked if it was real, or a typo, or something that could be addressed and fixed. Then he checked for it online, and the item and all its variations were gone, even the corresponding sku number was attached to a different item all of a sudden. He was unsure and was eager to help, get more information from the vendor. He notated my contact info, and said he would get back to me soon. Almost a week later, I was called and told the item was no longer available to Menards, and that I would need to be refunded for it. I said okay, but that I had just had foot surgery literally 2 days ago, and that I would be in for the refund as soon as medically allowed to be up and on my feet again. Since then, that Menards store has called me EIGHT times, leaving voicemails asking me to come in for the refund, it had only been a month. I let them know I had an appointment that week and would then know better when I could make it in. She was insistent I come in, to which I asked why it was so urgent I rush foot surgery recovery to come in for an error in your system. It was said to me that the paperwork was cluttering up the work area and needed to be cleared up. Are seriously expecting me to believe a big box company of your stature doesn't have filing cabinets or proper processes to keep paperwork in order? I went in yesterday to get the refund, however I was denied the refund of the money I paid because the card I used was no longer active- it had expired. Credit and debit cards all come with expiration dates that are enforced and are out of the cardholder's control. So, I was told that basically, my money is being held hostage and the refund was available as store credit only, regardless of the receipt in my hand or the base error being of your cause. This is wholly unacceptable and certainly feels not legal at all. I am prepared to provide the dates and times of the phone calls if necessary. Walked in the door I was the only customer at 2:30pm…read more Scrutinized visually by the two workers standing near the counter I proceeded to search for the multi-outlet extension cord I needed. Instead of asking me what I was looking for one of the employees trailed after me as though I was a shoplifter. Since I could not find what I was looking for I finally turned around and asked if they had the item I sought and if so where I could find it. Turns out they had a sparse selection and did not have the item I was looking to buy but I found a cheaply made cord I thought might suffice. It was expensive and the clerk was almost hostile when I plopped down a $20 bill to pay for it. No greeting, no thank you, nothing but nastiness. She counted out the change as though she was giving blood. Turns out the cord I bought would not work for my intended purpose but no way I was going back to that place to return it - ever. Now I travel the extra few miles to Menards or Walmart to puchase hardware items. I'd like to give my business to hometown 'small business' but not this store.

The rest of this I couldn't speak higher of my experience with this shop. sooo If you don't want to read my gushing stop here and do your self a favour and GO HERE! instead of home depot, cause you will actually get the right tools and the right hardware that you need rather than a bunch of prefab crap that will rust, wear or fall apart within a year or 2. I went in for a few separate projects and needing a few different items for different weather, both high stress and weather and underwater chains and links. They had galv/stainless/zinc/bare options for bolts screws and chains. I thought I died and went to bolt heaven when I walked into their entirely dedicated second floor nut and bolt room. I got some stainless Nylock nuts and everything else that I needed. The lady who assisted me was both courteous and knowledgable, her and I discussed the projects and we confirmed our reservations and made choices on the right products. It set my under 15 bucks for everything and I was able to finish my projects to a T without a problem. For anyone who knows anything about building and tools, this place is the place to go, Im SO SO SO SO tired of the crap that you find at home depot and you just cant get what you need for spec projects (which almost every project is). You can tell when you see all the kits that someone has to half build so they can get the parts they need. Please go to this place and support local shops cause if they go out of business were screwed when we need to build anything that isnt a prefab kitchen or shed or some crappy plastering kit. This place is the bees knees!

The customer service in this store is outstanding! We were given individual attention, friendly service and personal assistance with the purchase of 80 pounds of birdseed. And we met the sweetest dog, Dutch. We enjoyed watching him fetch tennis balls. So, listen up Battle Creek! This is the store you should be shopping at for everything you need for your home needs. We highly recommend you shop here instead of a big box store. You will receive the BEST customer service. We will probably never pass that way again, or visit this store, however we won't forget our visit there. We wish every store could be like this one. It's a gem! Thank you so much.

I went back to Wayland's hardware to get more live bait because the first batch of crawlers lasted…read moreso long in my frig I couldn't believe how nice they were. They were in the taller tubs and were great. Grand kid had a blast fishing with them. I bought 3 more tubs recently but these were in the small tubs. Put them in the same spot in the same frig, 2 of the containers turned to goo in days and the one I kept only about 3 crawlers look healthy, the rest on the verge of death. Recommend you don't buy any if they are in the small tubs and that you inspect them yourself before purchasing. Should not sell them like this.

I moved to Wayland just over a year ago and dropped off my Uhaul truck there. I needed help…read moreunloading the truck and they set me up with two strapping teenagers who unloaded the truck in a little under 2 hours (it took us 4 days to load it). I have found them to be very helpful in the store. Whether it's finding the right plumbing fixture or a screw for my screen door they are always smiling and helpful. The owner, Vicki, is a sweetheart.
