He also gave me some great tips on keeping my apartment more secure. I got the impression he truly cared about my safety. My experience with Andy: I had to change my locks last May in the middle of the night after a pretty horrible break up. I called another locksmith company (Maple Leaf) who came and changed my locks. A few months later, I found myself short one housekey. Not sure where it went, I decided it would be in my best interest to change the locks again. The day after researching locksmiths, I received a call from the guy at Maple Leaf, asking about my lock plate, or something along those lines, because my neighbor wanted one like it. While I had planned on going back to him, this phone call really weirded me out because he never worked on my lock plate and none of my neighbors should know about it because they haven't been to my apartment (that I know of). I called Andy at Advantage Locksmith. He showed up quickly, changed my lock, made my keys and gave me some tips to better secure my home. I asked him if he knew the guy at Maple Leaf. He said yes and I told him what happened. He was really sweet and called the other locksmith to figure out exactly what was going on. When the other locksmith told Andy he hadn't called me, Andy verified the number from my phone to make sure it was the other locksmith (Bjorn) when all of a sudden he remembered calling me and had just gotten the customers confused. It was very kind and I could tell that his concern for me and my discomfort was genuine. I also appreciate that Andy explained he won't have my receipts after the end of the fiscal quarter, so he would have no way to contact me, as they go to his accountant. They left the new keys under the old hardware in a box on our kitchen counter. Not realizing that's where the keys were, we threw out the box with the old hardware, and the keys went with it. The HOA which bought the new hardware and hired the installer was no help. The building management company which orchestrated the installation was no help. The locksmith that installed all of the units' new hardware was worse than no help, wanting such a high fee to rekey the locks that we considered buying an entirely new keypad and handle and attempting to replace it all ourselves. The problem with that plan was that we had recently sold the unit and the new owner was taking possession in 10 days. We needed a professional to get this done. Sadly, the locksmith we used when we bought the condo back in 2012 had moved to the other side of Puget Sound. After considering our options, we contacted Element Locksmith online and within two minutes received a call back. We explained the problem and were told that a technician would call us to set up an appointment. Within five minutes Emanuel called us. He quoted an extremely reasonable charge for a visit and if he couldn't rekey the locks that's all we'd pay. We were able to set up a time to meet at the condo. Emanuel was there as promised and he was able to rekey both locks at a price far below the quote of the installing locksmith. Emanuel was professional and prompt and very kind. Our lost key problem was solved without extraordinary expense. Such a relief! I highly recommend Element Locksmith. Note: I called what I thought was an Aurora Avenue location but they are actually completely mobile now.
