    Had my storage for two years. The managers were great and I really enjoyed doing business with them. I always felt my stuff was safe

    I am posting this review based on my experience trying to get Cubix Asset Management to respond…read moreregarding a serious issue at Skyway Self Storage in Chico. My storage unit at Skyway was burglarized and property was stolen. I had been told at move-in that security cameras were functional and that walkthroughs were done daily at close of business. The facility's website also repeatedly advertised 24/7 security cameras / 24/7 video surveillance. After the burglary, I learned that the cameras near my unit were apparently not connected to Wi-Fi, and there was no useful footage available. I repeatedly requested basic claim information: ownership contact, insurance information, preservation of video/access logs, and a substantive response. I also contacted Cubix through a general contact account because of its apparent involvement with the facility. No meaningful response followed. Meanwhile, my same unit was later targeted again in a second attempted break-in, where the bracket securing the lock had been cut. I was eventually referred to Nestor Campos, Cubix's regional manager, who said he was waiting to hear back regarding insurance information and next steps. I followed up again. Still no insurance information, no explanation, no meaningful response, and no accountability. At one point, documents in the payment portal, including my lease, appeared to have links removed or disabled, preventing me from downloading or viewing them during an active dispute. In my opinion, the handling of this matter has felt dismissive, evasive, and in bad faith. A company involved in managing or overseeing storage facilities should not advertise security, fail to provide usable security footage when a tenant is burglarized, ignore preservation and insurance requests, and then leave the tenant chasing basic information for months. If Cubix is not the proper party, it could have simply said so and directed me to the correct owner, insurer, or claims contact. Instead, the silence and lack of accountability have been the most consistent part of this entire process. Based on this experience, I would be extremely cautious dealing with Cubix Asset Management or any facility connected to them. Before renting at a property they manage or oversee, I would ask: Who actually owns the facility? Who manages claims? What insurance contact is provided after a loss? Are the cameras actually connected and recording? Who preserves footage and access logs? Can tenants reach anyone with authority when something goes wrong? My experience has been that getting answers to those questions after a loss is nearly impossible.

    Went in on Dec 26 around 3:00 PM and worked with Ian Johnson... we rented a 18" truck through…read moreBudget (horrible truck) and filled it up for our move to Idaho, early the nest day). Needed a big trailer but there were none at the location (or anywhere in Chico). Ian tried to find trailers in other locations, found one in Orland at a independent garage, but it cost twice as much than through U-Haul directly. Mark Jimenez (regional manager) was there helping out, as the store manager was away. He said he was just up in Magalia CA and there were three trailers there. He offered to go up there and get the trailer (which he did) and bring it back to Chico. At 5:00 I got a phone call from Ian, the trailer was there... come get it! Employees like this need to be recognized for their hard work and customer centered attitude! We were able to fill the trailer and left for Boise at about 7:00 the next morning. Even though we are now in Boise ID, I will continue to use U-Haul here.

    Walked in and there were 2 people at the counter. Both made eye contact with me and said nothing…read moreyet they were doing nothing except sitting there staring off into space. No "hello, welcome in, how's it going" ... NOTHING. I was looking around at the boxes trying to figure out why the large boxes didn't have handles (seems odd that only the small boxes have handles when the large boxes are the ones that REALLY need handles). I waited to see if any of the two people would ask if needed help but alas, STILL no customer service. I ended up taking a large box up to the counter and asking where the handles were. One person came out and looked at the boxes and said, "I guess they don't have handles" and went back behind the counter. I grabbed the boxes that I needed, walked up to the counter to purchase them, and when I tapped my card for payment, I was told they don't offer tap. It's either you bring in your physical card or pay cash. So aside from the horrible customer service their business is also in the ice age. Who doesn't have tap to pay as an option at this point??? SUPER ANNOYING. I rarely carry cash nor do I carry the physical cards because they're all stored in my phone to use for TAP PAYMENT. Luckily, I had a couple bucks in my car for parking meters and paid with that. I was asked if I wanted the receipt, I said yes, took it and walked out. No surprise that there was no, "thanks for coming in", "have a good day" or anything else. Literally even the most basic customer service skills are lacking here. Great place to go if you want to be ignored.

    MY LOCK WAS CUT AND HALF OF MY STUFF WAS STOLEN…read more The first time I rented a storage space there, the place had recently opened. The owner or manager lived there on site with his wife and was extremely nice. He was so helpful and easy to talk to; really made you feel like you picked the right place. So, I went back. Because I was a returning customer they did not charge me a deposit fee, which was nice. Good feelings stopped there. Somewhere along the line they hired some young people whom were not very competent. Extra Storage does not send you a bill, instead they call you on or about the 8th to tell you your bill is due by the 10th. If you want a bill sent to you then you have to pay an additional monthly fee. This was soooo frustrating. There were a few times that one of the incompetent employees recorded that he had called me when he DID NOT. So then I got charged a late fee. I kept my stuff there for three years. I had everything in there I owned minus clothes and books. Stuff from childhood, stuff from traveling, you know, MY STUFF. I paid just over $2200 to keep my stuff at a gated place under lock and key. Supposedly someone stays on site, supposedly there are video cameras... My lock and my neighbors lock was cut. I had everything stolen except 4 boxes and my furniture. As you could imagine, I was very upset. I'm still upset. There was nothing I could do because Extra Storage was not liable and I didn't have insurance. Extra Storage never apologized. They never returned my phone calls. They did nothing at all.
