My husband and I bought a custom IKEA kitchen 14 years ago. The kitchen has held up remarkably well, with the exception of slight water damage to the bottom edging. However, we were tired of the wooden color and wanted something more modern and more fun. I know how much new cabinets cost and I know how hard painting over laminate correctly is. Thank god that we found C&D Refinishings. After texting pics of the kitchen and deciding on a budget with them on the phone, they met with us at our house and were quick to cover the basics of the complicated paint job. The doors and facings were removed and taken with them to paint in their studio. While that left us with an open-faced kitchen a little longer than I wanted, the task of sanding, priming, painting and surfacing is complex and should be respected... as well as the work load of a private owned business of two. The impact of painting the actual kitchen was faster but no less arduous. Every surface of the kitchen not painted had to be covered. That's 98% of the kitchen. Along with that was a plastic "bubble" made to incase the kitchen so the larger part of the sanding particles and strong odors of the paints would be incased from the larger house. C&D did this quickly in one night. The next three nights they (1) sanded, (2) primed and (3) painted plus hardened. Two nights later the applied the cabinets. Each night they cleaned immaculately after each job. IKEA cabinets have a flaw in that the inners facings are a different color than the outer cabinets (see pics below)... so that the color difference can be seen when the cabinets are closed. C&D rectified this by painting the inner facing the same color as the chosen blue color. They also puddied and sanded the water damaged bottom trim to look like new boards. THE RESULT WAS STUNNING. A solid and beautiful blue cabinetry that looked better than the original. As my husband said..."We have a brand new kitchen." All I can say about the price is that it was better than any other company offered and possibly less than the job intelled. When can you say that in Los Angeles?!! The pictures speak for themselves. As for Danyll and Marty, they were delightful, relatable and hard f#cking working. You do have to be a bit flexible with them on the time frame as they are two people facing differing jobs of differing circumastances. But the end product is worth it. They are what self owned businesses should be about. Do yourself a favor, and employ them for your jobs!
I hired C&D Refinishings to refinish a cool side table that I have had for several years, but which was showing the signs of age. It was fading, had several scratches and chips. Plus, there was one area that had water damage (which caused the wood to swell and buckle). I asked for two colors...an exterior color and an interior color. Lacquer. Everything was done with very high quality. Looks brand new. And the paint line between the two colors is razor sharp. Plus, the price was very fair and they delivered exactly when they said they would. Highly recommend.
This TV console was relegated to the garage and used for storage. I'm so glad I decided to give it a face lift and a new life. It's now a glossy bright white and matches up perfectly with another piece I have in the same room. Danyel and Casey were so easy to work with - they picked it up from my home, brought it to their workshop, and had it completed and returned all in just one week. I absolutely recommend them
I had two projects I needed to take care. The dresser in our bedroom had an accidental spill issue where essential oils had spilled and stripped the original coating, completely ruining the top of the dresser. C&D came to my house to provide an estimate live, half the price than other competitors and gave me updates on the project. I had full confidence in their ability to color match the rest of the dresser and they did a really great job. I also own an entertainment console I've had for 15+ years, it was pretty beat up from being moved a number of times and was an original light brown wood grain that didn't match my current furniture set. They provided samples to help color match my other furniture and it looks like a brand new and distinct piece. Really enjoy how it turned out to give new life to one of my favorite pieces. I highly recommend working for C&D for any of your furniture needs.

Really bad attitude. I requested a remodel from a different company and yelp sent that request to a bunch of others (which I approved). I received a very negative message back from C&D. The response is posted below. Not the type of attitude I would ever choose to work with. Surprised they have any work if this is how they address potential customers.
My husband spilled acetone on my beautiful table, but completely redeemed himself by finding these refinishers and making all the arrangements before I even got home to find out about the damage. Because we live quite a distance away, they met us that evening halfway between our cities to examine the table and discuss refinishing options. I was pleased with their knowledge and passion for artisanship and craftwork. I told Danyel to use her best judgement as to the exact finish she thought best suited my table. When we received it back, it was glowing, with just the right finish to set off the+ wood and design. We thought the price we paid for the table plus two leaves was very reasonable, especially for results this great. That was several months ago--the table's finish has held up beautifully; I haven't come across any imperfections or other problems that might not be immediately noticed. If we ever have occasion to use refinishers again, whether (god forbid) we mess up another piece or have a renovation project, we will work with them for sure.
C & D refinished our Ethan Allan dining room table, coffee and end table. We've had these piece for over twenty years. The furniture was of good quality and worth refinishing for another twenty years of use. C & D did an excellent job. They took the time to listen to what we wanted and took great care of our furniture. It was clear that this small, family business knew what they were doing and took pride in their work and in their customer service. The tables look great, and were picked up and delivered in a timely manner. We can definitely recommend C & D.

We love the work Danyel & Casey did for our bathroom cabinets. You can see what a difference they made in the pictures I've uploaded. What made it more difficult for them is that I was too cheap to pay for the cabinet above the toilet (across from the vanity they worked on) to be worked on, so they had to match the finish to that cabinet. It was difficult to get on their calendar but that's because they are popular due to their wonderful work. Danyel was honest about their availability and communicated well. She has so much energy and enthusiasm. I met Casey only once but can tell he takes pride in their work. I found their price reasonable also. I am currently waiting for them to come back to pick up a Chinese Rosewood table to work on. I didn't want to commit until I saw their work first, so they didn't bring their bigger vehicle when they came to work on my bathroom. There are so many scammers out there that I wanted to be careful. We highly recommend them and look forward to their return.
Found them through the quote request function on yelp and Danyel responded promptly and came out that same day to give me a quote. Our cabinets- especially those under the sinks (bathroom and kitchen) were getting worn down. They have this matte lacquer finish to them that we weren't sure would hold up to being sanded and painted and we also did not know the exact shade or what to do. Danyel did though. She was great and took our two under the sink doors with her after our first meeting. She then came back next week and did the panel that could not be removed in our home. Took about 2 hours and she even touched up all the dings around our kitchen and bathrooms on the other cabinets. The cabinets look like new and you could not tell they were refinished. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
I have a bathroom in my house where the wood has become completely damaged by water, as well as faded from sunlight through the large window. It looks ugly and old and inconsistent with the rest of the house. I thought about spending a fortune on replacing all the cabinetry, but then I found C&D Refinishings on Yelp. I've had the absolute best experience with them! They are a true mom and Pop outfit, two people who are artists and who do their work with deep passion, not some big corporation that's out for your money. They reached out to me immediately after I contacted them on yelp. We texted back-and-forth with what my needs are. They closely examined all of my photos. They arrived promptly to examine my bathroom at home and the very same day dismantled it and took everything with them. Within just a few weeks, they were back better than you. You cannot tell that these are not new cabinets. See my photos attached. They take great pride in their work as their work is very detailed. They may not do it the next day, but it's worth the wait because they put a huge amount of effort into their work with fine attention to detail. Equally importance, they are deeply professional, and the nicest people on earth. You're going to have a very good experience with them. Their price was exceptional as well. Trust me when I say you will not find or receive the kind of prep and outcome that you get with Danyel and Casey. We first hired them to change our kitchen cabinets from brown to white, and our island from brown to black. My father who worked his whole life in the paint industry, still runs his hand over the kitchen cabinets every time he comes to visit, just to remark on how excellent they turned out. In fact, my brother (also in the paint industry) was disappointed in his own painted cabinets after seeing the work I had done. Not only are they highly skilled at what they do, they are beyond friendly, especially to my two small kids who won't leave them alone. We will only hire Danyel and Casey for all of our finishing/painting needs, and are currently having our master bathroom cabinets done by them. Call them. You will NOT regret it. read more

Water Damaged Night Stand - Restored! Danyel and Casey restored my water damaged night stand to it's original color and finish. They are both professional, courteous, and take pride in their work. Danyel and her partner did a wonderful job refinishing our Modernica table that had significant wear and tear. It was over 10 years old and had some water damage, paint, highlighter marks, and varnish removal. They picked up the table, provided updates as they refinished it, and delivered the table within the week. Highly recommend! read more

Got my 80's oak table redone by C & D Refinishings, and it looks terrific! The table is solid and they don't make them like this any more so I wanted to keep it and just update the look/finish to match our remodel. I have some before and after pictures to post. Definitely looks modern with our new decor. Danyel and Casey did a wonderful job. They carefully took our furniture, kept us up to date on the job, and returned the finished product just in time for Christmas Eve dinner. Highly recommend them. Thank you! read more

I can't recommend Danyel and Casey more highly! They completely restored my 10 year old dining table. The finish was coming off in several places and it was looking really beat up. I couldn't believe my eyes when they dropped it back off. It looks like new! They really brought it back to life! Turnaround time was ~2.5 weeks and prices were very reasonable! Danyel was super responsive throughout the process and even sent progress pictures. I will definitely go back to them for refinishing services in the future! Their work is fantastic! Danyel and Casey did a Remarkable Job of refinishing the two bedroom dressers of the 1950's. It is so beautiful and like brand new. Great communications - always lets me know in the status of the projects and always asked questions and shared their professional suggestions/recommendations and even send me pictures of the progress. This is not a licensed contractor! Really tried to like this young couple as it's admirable to see people so young working in a dying craft. HOWEVER, I cannot recommend them at all after completing a job at my house. We purchased a 107 year old historic home in July 2021. We needed our front door restained as well as a built in sideboard in the dining room. These people made an offer through yelp to give us an estimate. When they showed up, they started unloading all this equipment, setting up tables, etc., which was very weird. They didn't explain that they were going to do any of this. They ended up taking a drawer out of our sideboard and refinishing it! I thought, "what the hell is going on?!" But, they were very nice and polite and at least acted like they knew what they were doing. When they finished, it looked pretty good and they assured us if they did the job it would look even better. The color they hand-mixed was fairly close to the color we were going for, albeit a little darker. We ended up hiring them, but they said they couldn't do our front door until the weather warmed up...something about it making the varnish fog over. There were no written estimates but at one point Danyel took a photo of her notebook where she wrote down the price and texted it to me. The appointment ended up being a couple of months away. The morning of, we got up early and showered so we'd be ready for their arrival. They didn't show up until early afternoon, which really irked me. We have a roommate that's highly allergic to paint and stain fumes and he had left the house so as to not be bothered by them that morning. By the time they got here, he had returned and had to barricade himself in his room. They first said they'd do it all in one day and come back the next day to work on the inside of the door. They didn't even finish the sideboard the first day (because they were so late) and came back a 2nd day (late) and worked on it again, again forcing our roommate to stay in his room all day and night. Everything was totally enclosed in plastic and they were going in and out of the window! Weird. We decided to take a peak after they left and were shocked at what we saw. The color was so much darker than what we chose and didn't match the rest of the historic Craftsman trim in the room at all! Needless to say I mentioned it when they texted they were on their way the next day. Oh, again late. They were supposed to show up at 3 pm and didn't show until 5:30. So I was really, really angry by that time. They came in all faux cheerful and started cleaning up and installing the drawers and doors that they had taken back to their workshop to do. When I finally saw it all together it was just heartbreaking and again, just made me furious. Danyel was just a bucket of excuses and at one point I said, "Are you going to have an excuse for every single thing I point out??!" She ended up saying yes. She said, "Let me go get some lights and set them up so you can see that it's actually much lighter." I said, "Lights? This is the light we live in in here. This room is on the north side of the house, it's not going to get any brighter in here. We will always see this color in this amount of light. I continued to give her hell as she exited the house and her wimpy mate (Casey?) stood at the car and watched. She said, "It can be fixed!" to which I replied, "You didn't offer to fix it, you were all excuses and only offered to let us not pay the remaining bill." Frankly, if this is the kind of work they do, I would NEVER trust them to fix it and do it correctly. Danyel is a motor mouth and will sell you a swamp in Florida. I'm sure they CAN do some good work, but be forewarned. UPDATE in response to Casey's reply: 1. You did NOTHING to try to satisfy THIS customer when I brought this problem to your attention. Danyel was NOTHING but excuses, and now you in a similar fashion. 2. If this is what you call an "exceptional job," you need to get out of the business. You just ruined a 108 year old historic piece of furniture because your egos were bigger than your professionalism. 3. I did not agree on a color several shades darker than the historic wood in our dining room. That's nonsensical. Who would do that? Further, Danyel already apologized for the misunderstanding "on your part," so are you now negating her apology? 4. You didn't get paid, huh? YOU GUYS texted me to not make the final payment! Don't you DARE make it sound like I didn't pay you when it was your idea! I have the text message! 5. No "legitimate" business keeps invoices handwritten in a notebook like a high schooler. Further, you're not even licensed to be doing this work. read more

I can't recommend Danyel and C&D Refinishings highly enough! We had four very challenging dining room chairs to refinish...we had them built about 30 years ago...the wood had split and chipped everywhere. It turned out this was anything but a simple, easy job and required far more care and craftsmanship than we had initially thought. But C&D put in the work and time and didn't charge us more than the original quote. Their concern with quality was amazing and we are thrilled with the result. We would absolutely use them for any of our refinishing projects and recommend them to all! read more

Beautiful work! I had an '80s golden oak dinette set I inherited from my parents. The company was very responsive via Yelp and even did a couple of test pieces for me to help settling on a new finish. We went with white on everything but the table top, which got a dark finish. Finished product looks great! read more

Danyel and Casey are pros. They are very good at their craft. My front door and patio doors were extremely weathered and I was worried it couldn't be saved. But behold, my doors are beautiful again!
