Building a new house with a large master closet. We didn't know where to start. We tried using The Container Store's designer to design our master closet and it was not impressive, plus way over budget ($11k quoted for closet plus install). Saw this company on Yelp and asked them to come out. First off, it's a family business and the owner and his daughter Florencia came out and did the measurements. That was impressive. They're very knowledgeable and professional. Florencia designed a beautiful space and was open to any adjustments I requested and also made some great suggestions. A Top Notch Shop! We had a competitor do one of our closets and were very frustrated with the process. They had a sorry attitude and a total half ass approach. I met with a total of 7 cabinet/closet/garage contractors and I'm over the moon that I chose Adjustable Closet & Cabinets. From my first contact with Florencia and Rodolfo over the phone to my meeting with them at my home to go over my garage cabinetry and workbench needs was truly a wonderful experience. There attention to detail was incredible, their true spirit of wanting to please me the customer was undeniable. Not fake at all. All the others I had meetings with felt like I was meeting with salesmen, some evidently coached or reading from a script that they were given just to make the sale. Not so with Flo and Ro. Adjustable Closets & Cabinets is a great company with great customer service and great workmanship. I honestly can't say enough good things about Rodolfo and his team. I guess I'll just let their track record with me speak for itself: I lived in a house where the owner had used Adjustable Closets & Cabinets to build custom closets throughout the house. I lived there for about 10 years total and the closets were installed after about the first two years I moved in. Wow, what a difference. It was so much easier to organize my stuff in the new closet. I could fit so much more in there too! When I purchased my own place this last year, I knew I wanted the same closets in my new home as well. I contacted Adjustable Closets & Cabinets and received quotes for my closets and for this weird cutout thing in the wall of the master bedroom (we ended up turning the cutout into a built-in entertainment center). The quoted prices were very fair...and to be honest, cheaper than I expected! I had a couple changes I wanted to make to the closets in order to serve my specific functional needs and the changes were not a problem at all. I received an original blueprint with my quote and, after I requested the changes, I received new blueprint with the adjustment so I could see it firsthand. Both the closets and the entertainment center turned out fantastic. I'm so happy I opted to use the same company as the owner of the previous home in which I lived. Fast forward to this year and I've decided to have more work done by Adjustable Closets & Cabinets. I have yet another weird cutout thing in a wall just next to my kitchen. Since cabinet space in my kitchen is limited, I've decided to turn the cutout into a set of side-by-side drawers. Rodolfo came out to do a consult and I received a quote the very next day for a price that is again below what I expected. I'm thrilled--I can't wait to have more kitchen space. I've just made arrangements for the installation. I'll try to remember to post pictures when it's completed!. I'd like to make a note about the negative review from John D. below. I am honestly surprised at this review. It is so far from anything I've seen from Adjustable Closets & Cabinets and I've seen/had multiple large jobs done by them. John notes poor workmanship as one of his main complaints, yet everything I've seen and had done by Adjustable Closets & Cabinets has been of excellent quality. John also states that the cabinets that were installed in his closets were not standard depth cabinets and that the closet designer gave him no room for long hanging items such as trousers and coats. I'm also confused by these statements because Adjustable Closets & Cabinets gives blueprints of the planned installation before the job is started. The blueprints are VERY detailed and had John looked, measurements are given for every aspect of the job. For that matter, if John took issue with not having a long-hang section in his closet, why didn't he ask the closet designer to make these adjustments prior to installing the closet? It's his closet after all--only he would know his functional needs. It seems silly to put the blame on Adjustable Closets & Cabinets for his own lack of attention to the details that ultimately affect him. read more

I recently contracted this company to install a couple of their adjustable closet products in my home and was extremely pleased with the entire process! It was refreshing to deal with people that know and understand there jobs. It started with the designer coming to my home and discussing the project with me, taking measurements, while making suggestions of what also can be placed inside my closet areas (options!!!). I had an idea of what I wanted but couldn't believe all the options available... The draft design was drawn up and emailed to me for my acceptance or modifications. Runaway! Runaway as fast as you can from the Adjustable Closet Company. I have 4 specific complaints about them that I will address below. 1. I just had them install four walk-in closet cabinets in my new 4,500 square foot home. I thought I would be getting proper walk-in closet cabinets with an industry standard 14" to 16" depth. At no time did Dan, the sales person, ever discuss or write down the depth of the cabinets I would be receiving. I am a very busy professional and assumed a standard depth would be used in such large walk-in closets. To my surprise, after I arrived home on the Friday evening after the install, all of the cabinet depths were a mere 12". What I received in all 4 of my walk-in closets were essentially BOOKSHELVES. Are you kidding me? I paid these guys $7,500 for what amounts to some 12" depth BOOKSHELVES that they try to pass off as closet cabinets. I have photos of the closet cabinets from my prior home that show them as having a 14" depth. With a 12" depth BOOKSHELF as a closet cabinet, how am I supposed to hang my suits on nice wooden hangers without them scraping against the wall. This is just asinine. How do you hang up a jacket or trenchcoat without it twisting and turning and scraping the wall? I don't know. Any reputable company would have used at least a 14" depth shelf or disclosed up front in writing with bold print that they would be trying to pass off 12" depth BOOKSHELVES as closet cabinets. Now, apparently, I am stuck with 4 walk-in closets filled with BOOKSHELVES instead of proper closet cabinets. If this company does not do the right thing and come back and rectify this matter, I will definitely be seeing them in small claims court where they can explain to a judge how 12" depth BOOKSHELVES equal expensive custom designed walk-in closet cabinets. 2. There was a 1/4 inch wide gap at the bottom of every cabinet where the base shelf meets the back wall. What is that all about? It seems to me that professional competent workmanship would require the rear of the bottom shelf to sit flush with the wall. It did not. As I stated there was a 1/4 inch gap on the bottom shelf of every cabinet. This would allow dust to get in under the cabinet and build up over time without the possibility of vacuuming because these are the built in base shelves of the BOOKSHELVES, I mean "closet cabinets." As I stated, I had closet cabinets in my prior house in Chatsworth, and they had no such gap. This gap, provided by the Adjustable Closet Company, screams of poor quality workmanship. 3. Dan, the salesman/designer, used an outdated pencil on paper method of showing me what my "closet cabinets" would look like. In this day and age of technology, it would have been nice if he had used some kind of a software/computer based design tool that would clearly show dimensions and have some kind of 3D rendering capability. In fact, many websites that I visited, before unfortunately deciding on the Adjustable Closet Company, allowed me to do just that; i.e., enter my own dimensions, add my own components, and see a 3D rendering of my designs, complete with exact measurements. The pencil and paper designs that Dan provided were definitely not to scale and never specified a 12" depth on these BOOKSHELVES/wannabe "closet cabinets." 4. Dan, the salesman/designer, actually created a walk-in closet design for my closet that did not include any cabinets for long hanging items. Every hanging cabinet was a double hang. I like to hang up my trousers unfolded on jawbreaker hangers so they don't get creases in them. How am I supposed to do that without any long hanging cabinet space? Or how am I supposed to hang up long coats, long jackets, my full wetsuit, or my hanging garment bag, for that matter? I don't know. This just seemed like it wasn't well thought out or professionally designed from somebody who allegedly does this on a daily basis as a profession. Again, this just seems to show the lack of competence and attention to detail I would expect for $7,500 worth of closet cabinets. When you get your closets done, you want it done right the first time and you never want to have to think about it again. If that is what you want--professionalism, quality, walk-in closets cabinets with a depth greater than a 12" BOOKSHELF--runaway, runaway from the Adjustable Closet Company. Find a reputable closet cabinet company which will disclose the depth of your cabinets in writing, up front, without hiding the ball. read more
