Major work included a new kitchen, three bathrooms, tile flooring throughout, interior paint, a new electrical panel, and whole-house LED recessed lighting. Even after the job was done, they returned to fix small issues without hesitation. That kind of follow-up is rare in a world full of disappearing contractors. This was the best experience i have ever experienced in any situation where I had work done in my house. Two brothers grew up in this business and they have exceptional work ethics and live up to their model. All within one week my cabnets were refinished , they removed , sanded and painted the frames and took doors back to their shop. I asked for extra work to paint the walls in my kitchen and their man was clean and efficient and along with the brothers his work was high quality and respectful of my space. By the end of the week my cabinet doors were ready to be installed and the work could not have been so perfect in color and the quality of paint and finish was perfect. We had our 24 year old, antiqued, off white, acid washed cabinets refinished to a stunning white, and the whole kitchen brightened and looks brand new. They offered to complete a color sample on a drawer front for me to live with before approval of the color choice, a necessity in my view and not something others happily offered. The finish looks factory baked and they succeeded in correcting existing imperfections to make it all look perfect. They use the highest quality products which makes their finish look terrific. They repaired a few random things along the way at no extra charge. These two couldn't have been more helpful and eager to please. This was a big and long project, but absolutely worth it. There were lots of different folks required (each expert) at their own area for the above work, but I did feel like they each knew what the other was doing and I was kept up to date by either the owners or my service rep. I also like that they are a small business - I felt my project was important to them even though it was not the "biggest" (especially since I broke it into 2 phases for my own budget planning). I'm VERY happy with my updated kitchen and would work with them again.

The good news is they fixed all the problems ... well, mostly. The bad news is that there were just so many problems, causing endless delays. Staff was not available; planning was improvised and sloppy (requiring work to be redone again and again); work quality was indifferent. In the end I had to finish the clean-up, and I'm still fishing loose steel screws out of the cabinet shelves. Delays turned the promised 3-day job into 8 working days spread over two weeks, leaving us with no kitchen and a house mess for much longer than we planned. In the end, we got our kitchen cabinets resurfaced, and it looks fine. But what a frustrating, amateur road we travelled to get there. Cannot recommend this outfit.

Manuel is fantastic! We talked a couple times and got an initial idea of what we wanted to do. Then he came to measure and talk a bit more so we could refine the project. Manuel provided us with renderings and a quote that was well within our budget. We are not starting our project just yet because of timing but once we say yes, I'll come back to talk about that experience. We worked with MJ to redo a built in cabinet in the main living area of our house as well as a…read morereplacement of a mantle. From the beginning Manuel was challenging to get ahold of (no responses on emails mostly). Work started a week later than we had agreed on and Initially the project was supposed to take 3 days - demo, install, finishing- and it was suggested that it could be done in one week. The project started September 25 2024 and was finally finished November 15, almost 2 months. During demo we had to ask them to stop because they did not tape off the space and spread huge amounts of dust throughout our house that we ended up needing to do lead and aesbestos testing to move forward (not to mention, I had to take a day off of work to clean up the mess created). We had to call and text and basically beg them to send people out to finish the work and we could tell we were a very low priority- mostly working Saturdays, canceling multiple times after committing to dates, unwilling to commit to days until a day or two in advance, etc. He pretended he would work around our schedule but if that was the case, this work would have NEVER been completed. I canceled plans 3 times during this process to make myself available to get this work done. After demo, I think they realized this job was more complicated than originally anticipated but instead of telling us that, Manuel just kept us guessing, unsure if the timeline had changed- he did not want to communicate specifics with us which we would have really appreciated and welcomed. We learned quickly that they were not particularly respectful of our space so we began taping up our own plastic space dividers to keep dust and fumes out of the rest of our living space. The workers were very nice and I believe the issue is with management rather than the workers themselves. In the end, the work is nice enough which is why I give 2 stars instead of 1. The finished work was absolutely not worth the headache and displacement we experienced to get it done. It was a truly painful experience. I have other cabinetry projects I would like to do but will absolutely not be hiring MJ Custom cabinetry again to do the work.
